You're not kidding. Those are some BIG rocks! I see multiple snorkles behind walls inside the pond. Do you mind me asking their purpose. Is your next trick going to be digging while the excavator is still suspended in the air? Awesome project as always. 👍
Thank you! 👊🏽 As of now this is a chlorinated system so yes, it’s looking great. This feature is built with the option to run with natural bacteria vs chlorine as well. If the customer decides to switch, the plumbing is set up to run water through the sand.
Just curious how you guys keep the water clean? I know in a standard pool the water can get dirty in the corners where there’s little water circulation? Does the sand and rocks cause dead spots where there’s very little water circulation?
We added jets to any dead spots which helps as well as the high amount of use this pond gets. Kids playing and walking around in the sand actually helps any debris that could possibly fall in to redirect to the intake bay.
Here’s some more info on this project. We do travel as well and would love to chat if you’re interested in something similar! www.markthepondguy.com/blog-2-1/project-spotlight-white-sand-beach-swim-pond
Yeah, if your rocks are 40cm - 50cm, then you lose 80cm - 1m in width once you have laid your rock into place. That's if you have shelves that allow you to lay just one layer down. If it needs more rock on that layer to reach to top of the shelf, then you lose more at the bottom. I've made a few ponds 18m x 16m, and they lose a little on the sides. But the bigger you go, the better. It just costs more to do, it is all.
This customer has owned several pools in the past but wanted something to blend in better with the Pacific Northwest landscape in their yard. The kids have used this pond 300 days so far, so it definitely brings the functionality as well as the aesthetic the homeowner was looking for. And when the pond is not used as much in the future, they plan to run it naturally and add aquatic plants and fish.

I'm not so interested in seeing all the equipment building it, and very interested in seeing the final result. Which isn't shown and I don't see Part 2, which presumably shows that.
In case you missed it, here’s part 2! EPIC Rec Pond - Part 2! ruclips.net/video/bNL_WQzhklQ/видео.html We’ll also be uploading some footage of this project with the finished landscaping soon. Thanks for watching!

Does the chlorine stain the rocks? Need a special filter/pump for the sand?

Nice work. Does the sand stay fresh underneath without an up flow water pipe under it?
Thank you! 👊🏽

How much for a pond in Southern Vermont?

When they start these they always look a descent size then they fill them with rock and turn them into paddling pools

What’s the cost?
Which state was this built in?
this is in Washington state 😊
What is the primary reason for a pond vs a pool?
This customer has owned several pools in the past but wanted something to blend in better with the Pacific Northwest landscape in their yard. The kids have used this pond 300 days so far, so it definitely brings the functionality as well as the aesthetic the homeowner was looking for. Good gravy, white sand reflects sunlight so sunburns would make the area harmful to humans and animals.
💀
how much does rock like that cost?
Rock prices vary, for this project we used several large boulders 2-6 man size. Just for the large rocks it was about $30k.
Do you build in NC?
