- I haven’t had the best experience with series that aren’t U.C, mainly because I just don’t think it would impact me as much as other Gundam series do, but MAN, was I wrong about this one!
Today, I finally share my thoughts on a series that I think was built perfectly for newcomers and Gundam fans alike: Gundam Build Fighters!

Build Fighters is what got me into Gundam when I caught my dad watching it and he was an original Gundam fan when it was first airing. It's pretty awesome overall isn't it? I remember crying at the finale and it'll still make me cry 10 years later.
Its the series that got me into building gunpla
I love the cameos in GBF and the fanon idea that it's "Gundam Valhalla" where the dead of the various series can finally live happy lives where war is nothing but a game. I legit tear up when I see everyone's favorite McDaniel's meal there with with genuine loved ones in the background at 2:40
My Gundam Build ranking would probably be:
1.Fighters
2.Re:rise
3.Try
4.Divers
I think most people would only argue 1 and 2 placings

Build fighters was the first Gundam anime I watched after getting into building gunpla and I’m so glad it was I definitely would not have kept up with the hobby and for sure would never have started painting and customizing gunpla if it wasn’t for this series I’m glad I can share that love with others
Something I particularly like about the build series is the final episode trope they share of having a large scale battle that you would expect from the closing episodes of other gundam anime but with custom gunpla instead of mostly grunts, in all of the cases of this it doesn't take up the entirety of the episode but it is brilliant to watch regardless

Gundam Build Series is one of my favorite Gundam series that I've been following since its inception. I love how the show and the toys made use of its meta elements from the proper Gundam shows and how they use custom versions of existing gunplas.
I also love how GBF also had a neat cameo of pre-existing Gunplas from Gunpla-based installments like Beginning Gundam (Gunpla Builders) and Perfect Gundam (Plamo Kyoshiro)
With Build Series having its 10th Anniversary soon, I wish there would be a new crossover project that involves ALL of the protagonists and have them further explore Reiji's origins and the El Divers. Heck, having cameos from Gundam Breaker, Gunpla Builders, and Plamo Kyoshiro would be neat as a celebration of Gunplas.
If it were up to me, I wish there would be an Extreme Gundam variant in Build Series so that it'd goad Bandai into making and reissuing more Extreme Gundam kits since its also my favorite Gundam. 😆😂
I remember watching this show as a kid and I still loved this show as an adult.
I was hesitant when BF came out but after watching it since I got a bit bored with Gundam, it got me loving Gundam all over again
For me and my family, this version of Gundam is actually much more enjoyable than the mobile suit one. The animations, graphics, the gundam models even the love story within this anime are so fun to watch. And yes, I have watched this anime several times and I would watched it again and again and again....
BANZAI to Gundam Build Fighter series!!!
If you plan to continue, divers is the stepping stone that makes re:rise become more than just a shonen show.
So keep that in mind once you start watching those two seasons.
I've been trying to get into Gundam for a while now, I watched the first season, The Origin prequel, and G-Witch all of which were good but didn't click with me. Build Fighters with it's gimmick of Gundam battling reminds me of the collect em all shows I grew up with(Yu-Gi-Oh, and Bayblade), with the concept of this world that almost revolves around model kit fights, while a lot of references fly over my head I can still appreciate that the writers have passion for the franchise. The dichotomy of the Sei and Reiji is fucking genius, with Sei being this Gundam fanatic and Reiji not understanding anything about Gundam but enjoying fighting with them, which kinda mirrors how I feel watching the show itself.
Build Fighters Try isn't quite at the same level as Build Fighters but it's still worth a watch. Build Divers though I was fairly disappointed by.
I've heard Re-Rise is better than Divers and possibly even Try.

@@echs457 If we are talking about simplicity, fun and self aware of not being in a war, one has a valid point in saying Try is still much better than both Divers which take themselves super seriously and try to be really deep instead of staying simple and fun. Re:Rise has good story and characters, but I won't blame anyone for still preferring Try alongside the original for the reasons said.

@@echs457 How about you read what was said instead of blind assumption. I just said people have a right to prefer Try over both Divers for said reasons, that's it. I like Divers and Re:Rise more, but I'm being fair in saying people are not wrong if they prefer Try.
Its crazy how GBF came out 10 years ago I was in the end of Elementary now im all grown up and out of school the series doesn’t even feel like it aired that long ago and Me and my little brother were watching it on gundam info
I gotta give the build series a try since it reminds me a lot of typical shonen anime/ card or game based anime like Yu Gi Oh, Pokémon, bakugon you name it, or even mega man nt warrior (the manga is really good haven't seen much of the anime) but still, I wanna watch/ finish a few more series I've left on the back burner before watching build fighters cause besides the animation of the mecha enticing me, this video helped me get more interested.
My dad was the first person to introduce me into gundam. I watched my first series with him (Gundam 00) and he bought my my first kit (HGUC Zeta plus) BUT i only really got into building after watching build fighters
It's actually my first gundam and anime soo yeah I agree with the title.
Gundam build Fighters is a pretty amazing anime if you ever told me it was actually my very third ever anime I ever watched and I also got me to buy Gundam but the thing that makes this anime just even more amazing is the music the characters just everything about it it's just you can just turn off your brain and just enjoy it to build strike to the amazing Zaku and hell even other more mobile suits the series just tells you to just relax and just enjoy the series hell until this day I'm still watching the series since well it's just repeatable you can watch this thing over and over again and you'll just realize even more stuff that you never saw last time not just that but I also taught you to love your Gundam and to always put respect and even more stuff into it but at the very same time I'm also jealous that you can fight with your Gundam and this anime what the hell do we still not have that but to me this anime is really good it is a 10/10

I'd be very interested in hearing you talk about Re:Rise. It's a massive shakeup from the Build Fighters format, but it's also really good, especially after the disaster of Build Divers.
No fucking joke, as a current day UC junkie, I started off with build fighters. Everytime I rewatch this BF i fall in love with it more and more. UC is profound and nuanced, but BF just pure, passionate, fun.

The only Gundam I have ever seen is season 1 of Iron Blooded Orphans, but I will definitely be starting Build Fighters.
Ngl my first gundam show is build divers(yes i enjoyed it) but ngl build fighters is definitely better and both shows and more got me into gundam and (more accurately) gunpla.
Btw the build fighters universe has 3 mangas about tatsuki yuuki, i only ready the 1st one until chaoter 13(beacuse for some reason tge dude from mangadex doesnt upload more) and ngl the first arc of that manga is pretty nice imo, maybe you should try reading those too

Gunpla Builders beginning G there is another series before build Fighters which it's more of a prototype of the whole entire series it is free on RUclips
Not to mention that Gunpla Battle is actually a very expensive hobby hence the damage level system in TRY. Think about it, how much money would've a gunpla fighter spent to cut the losses after losing a fight.

Love the Gundam Build series
The first is my favorite, my favorite characters are Sei, Kirara, and Aila, when I watched Build Fighters I think of Digimon, I imagine the characters as tamers with partners like Sei and Gammamon or Aila and Morphomon, i not sure for Tatsuya and Mao, I wish they keep using the same characters instead replacing them with new characters in Build Fighters try.

Try was fine, diver went downhill, diver rerise climbed itself out of the pits of divers.
What if Gundam characters who died from the series got Isekai'd into Build Fighters/Divers universe? lmao
The sequels were ok and meh but the best so far is Build Divers Re:Rise and Core Gundam is such a unique design for how versatile it is.
Build divers is a bit hard to swallow as it feel more little kid approved instead of general audience but it was still a good show and especially when you get into gundam build divers re: rise and get past the first 10 or so episode and then he turns right into a regular Gundam series instead of being about gunpla models

Fighters and fighters try are good the other 2 are a bit meh but still OK to watch ... Actually the 4th one is OK the 3rd 1 I wouldn't mind skipping

to me B: diver series is not that good like build and try did. it is fine Re:dive is slightly better quite decent and few scenes is just GOOD
build series battle never stop to amaze me. dew to there is not no way a life can be lost here. everyone call go all out with they emotion easier and not wait like 20 episode to just open up

Figthers is very good. Divers not so good. Divers scrap the ideas that Fighters have built and it focuses more on the plot and much less on why building Gunpla is fun.
Thank you, you actually explained why divers isn't as good. I don't know; I enjoyed both fighters, divers and their sequels. Divers is what got me into Gunpla too, but I suppose if one was into Gunpla more, they would enjoy fighters more, and if another liked the development of combat more, they would enjoy divers more. Even so, Divers started my addiction to Gunpla and motivated me to play Evo, so 🤷
the build series peaked at build fighters for me tbh. try was alright but not nearly as good, divers was surprisingly entertaining if you don't think too much on the plot, and re:rise (for me at least), was to divers like try was to fighters, that is to say.. meh.

I have mixed feelings about Build Fighters/Divers. On one hand, it legitimizes and inspires all the non-canon builders and promotes "Gunpla is freedom". But for a gamer in me it was painful to watch.
