We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version ruclips.net/user/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.
5:16i love that after you give the recorded response you doggo got confused head tilt cuz it's hearing your voice on the wall while you were carrying and behind them.
I actually think the most important is the camera angle, so you can see if packages are left at your door. New options like Unifi G4 has two cameras for this purpose and better integration if you are using their network. Also might have been useful if you covered Eufy as that's a decent local option as a standalone for novices - and battery version lasts up to 6 months.
This is a very good doorbell camera for security as shown by the short response time. My only gripe with the Google Nest Doorbell is the non-removable battery. As shown in your video, charging it requires taking it down from its mount and plugging it into a charger for about four and a half hours. During this time, there is a security/surveillance downtime. Thankfully, there is the wired option which doesn't require one to ever take it down for charging as it is on perpetual power. Great video!
Eufy cameras are really not secure, if anyone steal or destory the cameras, then you csn retrieve or look at any footage (home base or not, if you want to see a recording, the device need to be working)
I'm using Eufy 2k Wired.. Has everything Alex mentioned about Nest but more importantly for me, video is stored locally and not on the Cloud like Nest..

Smart tech thingy once u have it u cant do without lol. These smart doorbell really good for online shopper like me. I always get the deliveryman to leave my parcel in the riser through the speaker mode. One of my best purchase for last year. 👍🏻
Thanks for this video comparison. I was a Ring 2 user for a while but switched away after a firmware updated reduced battery life to a mere 10 days or so - this after switching out to a new battery, and turning off motion sensors! I’m now using the Eufy Video Doorbell 2K (Battery-powered) which gives me the features of the Ring 2 without the need for a monthly subscription. Best feature of all - I only needed to recharge the battery once after using it for 11 months! (Note: I don’t turn on motion sensor as my flat’s door directly faces a neighbour’s)
Do we need to inform town council and apply for permit or license to install such video doorbell because I recalled SG news came up with neighbours complaining they have been monitored because the other neighbour installed a smart video doorbell which is intruding their privacy. To me I don’t think it’s a need but no one can actually tell if it’s a must to apply a permit to install one in fact. Thanks to advise.

Hi Alex I just got the Google Nest Hub display and Nest Doorbell but I can't seem to sync them together eventhough they and on my Google Home. As you showed when you press the bell, I'm nither getting the bell sound not video appearing on the Hub Display.
Hi alex, as a singaporean myself as well, can i ask whether the standard existing wiring meant by hdb doorbells be used to connect to the Google nest doorbell? Thanks in advance
a dumb doorbell requires you to connect to a battery powered chime. So for google nest doorbell, you need a transformer to provide power to the doorbell and chime - ruclips.net/video/D5LGtYsAswI/видео.html
Hi Sir Alex, hope I can ask a quick question please. I would like to get the battery version of this and my apartment has no existing doorbell. So all I would have is this doorbell, my google pixel phone (which is always with me in my apartment) & my home wifi router (nothing else). Is it possible to set the Home app for the following scenario? Someone presses the doorbell and I get a notification alert (with some sort of SOUND) on my phone telling me that someone is ringing my doorbell (so this then would be my "chime" so I know someone is ringing the doorbell without having to stare at my phone). And then now at the same time only when someone presses the doorbell does the video camera turn on (as I don't need any motion surveillance). Would I be able to use the device in this rather very simple way? Thanks so much...
hi there, to put it simply, what you described is the basic function of a smart video doorbell. You will definitely be able to receive notification from the app then access the camera from there
Hi Alex, fellow Singaporean just found your channel. I wonder if you cover this in previous video. For smart wall switch, which brand would you recommend. I am living in HDB and don't have neutral wire, is it worth getting the neutral wire installed? Thanks for your advise :)

Hi Alex, thank you for your very informative videos. I am renovating my home and find your videos very useful with lots of practical tips. Anyway with regards to smart video doorbells which one will you recommend for Apple iPhone users, if smart home integration is not necessary?
eufy notification and playback works on all my iOS devices (iphone and ipad) *for eufy doorbell 2K u just install eufy software.. anybody ring doorbell or if u do motion detection.. it will notify you and quite fast also
Hi Alex, I have gotten the Google Nest Doorbell. Just wondering, if I want to connect it using the existing wires from the HDB doorbell, is there anything that I have to do with the “bell thingy” in the kitchen apart from connecting the wire from the existing doorbell to the new doorbell?
that end is for you to connect your chime and power to the doorbell, if you are going through renovation now i suggest to provide a usb power directly through instead
Hi Alex, do you know if our HDB door bell wires provide sufficient electricity to power these US smart doorbells? Specifically Logitech Circle View and Wemo Smart DoorBell? Am wondering if I need to get an electrician to purposely drill hole and pull wires to outside of the house. Thanks!

@@sable2008 I read about this yesterday night on sg law articles that as long as any doorbell with a video recording or camera function, it means it’s under cctv category and it’s a violation of intrusion of privacy. That means the owner must firstly lodge an application with police then follow by an approval from town council. Once approved by both of them, then only you can buy the device. If not, if you just buy the video doorbell & install outside of your house without official approval and your neighbour officially complains to the town council, the authorities will step in and ask you to remove the device entirely. Then it will be a full waste of money. I really wanted to purchase this nest doorbell but now I am worried about this issue!
Hi alex! Thanks for sharing this wondering review! Im wondering if you have any recommendations for cctv/cameras that can be linked to the google nest display.
I've been on the fence for getting a video doorbell because I've seen a few people talk about how they ended up having to sell their video doorbells because their neighbors complained about privacy issues. Apparently it's not allowed in hdbs.
@@AlexTeo just curious to ask, did you seek your neighbours for their consent first before getting one & installing it without any official authority approvals too? From what I saw in your video, your doorbell seems to be pointing at no opposite neighbour’s door directly so maybe it’s safe for you in this sense. Sellers were saying they don’t face any issues so far but they mentioned many who bought from them were condo users, so unsure if Hdb users face a lot of rejections and removals of their video doorbells in the end????

Hi Alex,
Contemplating between Arlo vs Eufy fot Wired Doorbell ; which one is better in terms of audio - 2 way com and connectivity to Google Hub ? Please advise ! Thanks !
both are not great when it comes to integration on google hub
Hi Alex! I'm interested to get the Google door bell.. but I'm not sure if I wire it at my new home... Can I check if this new battery powered Google door bell has the wires inside so u can choose to wire it as well?
Hihi, it comes with wires but you need to figure out how to run the wiring, get advice from your electrician
Hi, fellow singaporean here. Do you have any electrictian contact that I can use to install the wiring needed?
Does the unit have any anti-theft measures? I imagine it to be something that could be stolen.
Is there cloud subscription for the Google Nest Doorbell? I would like to keep records of my events.
default 3 hrs, else you will want to subscribe to google nest aware
@@AlexTeo Yup thanks! Manage to get Nest Aware too.
a question, i have a old conventional switch doorbell outside. can i remove the switch, put a blank swtich on, drill a small hole and push the red and black wires in and fix on the google doorbell 2? would that work?
is it currently running on battery?
@@AlexTeo I plan to have it on wired mode
@@Thephotondust i mean is your current doorbell running on battery?
Hi Alex I just got the Google Nest Hub display and Nest Doorbell but I can't seem to sync them together eventhough they and on my Google Home. As you showed when you press the bell, I'm nither getting the bell sound not video appearing on the Hub Display.
hey there, i suggest you to remove both devices and redo the setup configuration
Hi alex, as a singaporean myself as well, can i ask whether the standard existing wiring meant by hdb doorbells be used to connect to the Google nest doorbell? Thanks in advance
a dumb doorbell requires you to connect to a battery powered chime. So for google nest doorbell, you need a transformer to provide power to the doorbell and chime -

You will definitely be able to receive notification from the app then access the camera from there
Thanks for the awesome video! Can I check if I need a transformer as I understand that Google Nest doorbell works only for 110V? Thanks!
ya you should to prolong the lifespan of the battery even it might work without
Hi Alex, fellow Singaporean just found your channel. I wonder if you cover this in previous video. For smart wall switch, which brand would you recommend. I am living in HDB and don't have neutral wire, is it worth getting the neutral wire installed? Thanks for your advise :)
i recommend aqara wall switches, you can go with non neutral switches which is what I am using
just wondering since nest aware subscription is not available in singapore, is it recommended to change my region to australia and subscribe?
otherwise i'm only getting 3 hrs recording.
if 3hrs is not enough for you, then just subscribe nest aware
hi, purchased the google nest doorbell after watching your video. just to check, will all type c wall adapter work with the type c charging cable that came with the product? do we need any adaptors to convert the electrical output for the battery charging?
not sure what is this 'type c wall adapter' that you are referring to, just charge it like any devices like mobile phones using a usb-c charging port
Hi Alex, great video. Btw did you have any issue about setting up? I also bought mine from US recently. I live in Indonesia and I can't seem to set it up. Do you know if there's any region compatability issue? Thanks for your help!
No issue, only region constraint is on nest aware which will be fine once you set region to US
I am torn between ring and goggle doorbell. I saw a review by another user mentioning about how quickly Google doorbell can be stolen from the holding plate. Have u tried removing it?
They are all very easy without using any brute force, once u know how to remove by simplying googling
Do you need an existing door chime?
no need
Can u do a video on dehumidifier? Need a dehumidifier for my windowless toilet. TIA
Hi Alex, thank you for your very informative videos. I am renovating my home and find your videos very useful with lots of practical tips. Anyway with regards to smart video doorbells which one will you recommend for Apple iPhone users, if smart home integration is not necessary?
for iphone, at the back of my mind, shld be the ring doorbell.
logitech circle view as mentioned in the video if you want official support

Hi Alex, I have gotten the Google Nest Doorbell. Just wondering, if I want to connect it using the existing wires from the HDB doorbell, is there anything that I have to do with the “bell thingy” in the kitchen apart from connecting the wire from the existing doorbell to the new doorbell?
that end is for you to connect your chime and power to the doorbell, if you are going through renovation now i suggest to provide a usb power directly through instead
@@AlexTeo any example of what that usb power thing is? I am not quite sure what that means, and I scared my contractor doesn’t understand too.
Hi Alex, can i check for the Eufy 2K stream live video to Google nest hub?
yes, any camera device in google home you can display on the nest hub
Hi Alex the record history of the Google doorbell seems very short mine like after few hours full history gone is there something I missed TIA
default is 3hrs, sub to nest aware if you need more
hi sorry you mention the cloud storage and subscription prices in the video, do you have the specs sheet for all of them? Thanks
sorry i don't, you have to go individual product website to check it

sadly no, have to check for reviews or just take the gamble
Hi Alex, do you know if our HDB door bell wires provide sufficient electricity to power these US smart doorbells? Specifically Logitech Circle View and Wemo Smart DoorBell? Am wondering if I need to get an electrician to purposely drill hole and pull wires to outside of the house. Thanks!
the best is go with power over ethernet (poe), got good connection + power without using any adapter/transformer
For hdb unit door that are pointing towards walkway or neighbour door please seek your neighbour consent before purchasing one. My neighbour had mine removed😐
what?!?!
@@AlexTeo HDB has restrictions on CCTV installation and this kind of doorbell with recording function could potentially qualify as being caught under the regulations.
no shooting at neighbour at all. only ur own direct walkway view. as long ur screen can see ur neighbour will be a no. Yeah, probably invade their privacy if the husband sneak out to chiong meet gf or whatever. Yeah welcome to simi lansai also cannot sg. but sg can put cam every and any where they wan to monitor u.
was your neighbor not on good terms with you to begin with?
Im wondering if you have any recommendations for cctv/cameras that can be linked to the google nest display.
best is to go with google own nest cameras, i didn't test out various brands so can't really recommend
I've been on the fence for getting a video doorbell because I've seen a few people talk about how they ended up having to sell their video doorbells because their neighbors complained about privacy issues. Apparently it's not allowed in hdbs.
maybe check with your opposite neighbor first? Personally I don't find many of the HDB 'rules' make sense haha
@@AlexTeo just curious to ask, did you seek your neighbours for their consent first before getting one & installing it without any official authority approvals too? From what I saw in your video, your doorbell seems to be pointing at no opposite neighbour’s door directly so maybe it’s safe for you in this sense. Sellers were saying they don’t face any issues so far but they mentioned many who bought from them were condo users, so unsure if Hdb users face a lot of rejections and removals of their video doorbells in the end????
hi alex. was installation of the google doorbell easy? need transformer or anything else like that?
i didn't have it wired so its very straight forward
I am using doorbird doorbell. It is POE powered . The video footage is now been stored at my Synology NAS. The doorbell can be integrated with my control 4 smart home systems . When someone press the doorbell the chime is being broadcast into my Sonos sound bar . All movement is automatically recorded and can be viewed from my mobile phone
poe is the best, you get power and wired connection which are both so critical for the doorbell
Hey Alex did you installed the battery or wired version of the Google doorbell? I bought the wired version of the Google doorbell but I don’t have a chime so I’m not sure if it works?
this is the battery version, wired version means you need to connect to a power supply which is quite troublesome
Is wired better than battery powered? And connection wise - is it via wi fi ? If wi-fi is off then wont work?
wired is always better, yes its via wifi if not how to send notification to your phone
@@AlexTeo i see ....sorry im a bit outdated home still oldschool type...all manual. In the video you mention, if wired, need to inform the electrician that transformer is needed?
@@Kalimatullah_Yoh1-1.14 ya, but the best to me is to go with POE supportedd doorbell, that will be a cleaner setup
How do you buy from google US store? I made a purchase but my order got cancelled. I supposed you cannot buy from US if you are not residing in US
I saw from online stores selling “battery” and “wired” versions. Are they the same?
they are different, the 'wired' is the newer version
Thanks for this awesome video, it helps a noob like me understand so much better.
I’m thinking of the Google door bell, however is it a must to have Google nest too? Can it work independently & link to mobile devices?
Also, between Google bell (if Nest is not mandatory required) and Apple’s compatible Logitech, which would you recommend, and why? Thanks Alex! 🙏🏻
I forgot to add, we do need surveillance cameras inside the home (kids & such) so in totality would such door bell be a wise choice to pair with?
it is not a must have but it's good to have one. Yes they work independently. If you are not using homekit then of course the nest doorbell is better
you can use such doorbell as a form of communication with your kids too and know exactly when they go out and come home
Thanks Alex, next up I think I need to study your video on “which home platform” before I embark 😅 (新年快乐 to you, appreciate you’re replying during the LNY 🙏🏻)

Hi I would like to know your opinion. I’m intending to purchase the Xiaomi Mijia Smart Door Lock Pro. It already comes equipped with a 1080P Camera. It also has a bell function. Do you think I still need to get a smart doorbell?

what are your thoughts around privacy issues when using these smart door bells? I understand ring has had data breaches before in the past, and google has been shown to be quite extensive in their gathering of personal data. go with those that have local storage or whether you 'trust' the company
