How about the cat combo in standard? You cook a cat into cat pie. Then you tempt the cat back from the dead with the delicious scent of its own pie. Only to bake this new undead cat into a pie.
maro confirmed that each instance of the cat is a different cat, the implication being that it's just a stray cat that can be lured back with food like a normal cat. still cannibalism.
I saw the comment that its a different cat each time but I like to think its a schrodinger cat system, in other words before you check the cat is both a pie and a live cat but when you check (i.e. use cat's recursion ability or oven's activated ability) the cats two states collapse into either being a cat (alive) or a pie (dead). (depending on how you check, i.e. which activated ability you use)

That sucks. I used to have squirrels jump onto my shoulder when I was at Berkeley because I always carried almonds and would share them with the squirrels...so I even named two of them who were particularly friendly/hungry: a skinny one I named Ichabod and a slightly chubby one I named Elias.
@Christopher Connolly I've been around squirrels my whole life and have never done anything to draw their ire. I don't try to pet them, nor do I corner them. They are wild animals, but they are also a bit calm around most humans simply because we don't eat them much anymore.

to be fair, if someone chucked 4 city-sized ships at me, i would be dead. Assuming your referring to Skysoveregn tho, that means this wizard has about 24 or more life, as that has 6 power.

@@prob3z403 Arixmethes. Would you consider an aircraft carrier an artificial island? If not, would you consider Arixmethes to, at least, meet the criteria of being: 1) large, open ground to build on and 2) surrounded on all sides by water?
Matt Lynn artificial island is a loose term so it could be argued either way, but I would not view an aircraft carrier as being one because it cannot naturally grow foliage like moss, and aircraft carriers are created for other purposes than survival/being a landmass (survival as in food water shelter etc).
Emrakul being killed by 15 squirrels reminds me of a guy who was playing around with a DnD encounter calculator and found that 500 lizards can kill Tiamat.
That reminds me of the Rat Cleave tactic in D&D. If you get a bag of rats, cut it open in front of the final boss or whatever, do a whirlwind attack and have great cleave every time you kill a rat (which is every attack) you get another hit on the boss.
It reminds me of the peasant railgun. Basically you line up several hundred peasants in a line and give the one in the back a 10 foot wooden pole. Now because the pole is 10 feet long, have each peasant be 10 feet in front of the one behind them. Have every peasant in between the first and the last ready an action to take the pole when it's handed to them and give it to the peasant in front of them. Have the one in the front of the line ready an action to take the pole and throw it at whatever you want killed. When the rearmost peasant hands the pole forward, each of the readied actions will go off in the same round which is 6 seconds but on the same turn so the pole will be sent down a line several miles long in about a second, going from stationary to like 7200 mph. An object moving that fast has a tremendous amount of force and can demolish virtually anything it hits. No sane DM would allow you to do this but rules as written, D&D allows it.
@@tinyhawk6427 Good question! There is a big difference between mana *fixing* (which Traveler's Amulet does) and mana *ramp* (Wayfarers Bauble). The Amulet will get a land into your hand, which is useful so you dont miss land drops and you're set up for future turns, but Waferers Bauble is one of the few ways a non-Green deck can get an extra land directly into play, which speeds up your mana for the rest of the game. A Turn One Wayfarers Bauble, sacrificing it on Turn Two, plus your land drop for the turn means you'll have 4 lands by turn 3, rather than just 3. That's the value of ramp in commander; its to make your plays a turn earlier if possible and keep up the tempo. Hopefully I cleared it up! Btw Travelers Amulet is still a good card, especially useful for multicolor decks that dont run green, or artifact-synergy decks. It just doesnt do what Wayfarers Bauble does. Also real-world price is a lot lower for Travelers Amulet is a whole lot lower cause its seen a lot of Standard-legal reprints in previous sets (such as the gorgeous Theros Beyond Death art), while Wayfarers Bauble has seen far fewer large-set reprints..
Goblin diplomats reminds me of that scene with the "insulting Frenchman" from Monty Phyton and the holy grail, that guy up on the wall taunting the king and the knights on the ground.
I built a Sun Qon Lord of Wu deck and always talked about how funny he made every creature ride a horse. Or that Eldrazi have no idea what to do when someone riding a horse comes charging.
I built a deck with this legendary as the commander, but instead I shoved in everything that had to do with horses in blue... Even a Horseshoe Crab. Both horses and the horseshoe crab somehow rides horses.
For Arcades I like to think he's sitting at a large chess board and his walls are pieces. He slides the wall on the board and the wall gets slid across the field into an enemy. Made doubly fun with Tetsuko Umezawa to make your walls unblockable. Umezawa opens a portal, and Arcades just slides a wall straight through to smush an opponent.

Though, any bow would work, due to the whole Theros belief system having the effect of making it Nylea's Bow, because belief says that the bow she has in her hands is the one and only version. Remember the Elspeth storyline, she kept SAYING she had Khrusor (but it wasn't), and eventually, everyone believed it was true...so it was true.
I think it’s more cause both Nylea cards are part of the gods cycles, so if Nylea had reach, then RnD would need to put another ability on each of the other gods, in order not to trigger the OCD of every magic player and designer. And probably that could have been done, but likely due to gods already being indestructible, if you put another keyword outside of the rather weak reach on them, they would become quite OP.

However since those specific keywords are not evergreen ( that are always used in every set in some quantity, like flying or haste ) I don’t think that they were going to put them on only one random card. I’m not saying that there are no alternatives, just that those specific ones are a little far fetched. But yeah, other solutions could have been found, I am just expressing why I think they went with this instead.
My favorite weird thing that has happened that i can think of: My buddy crewed up a vehicle that was a pirate ship, (can't remember the card name). Then he equipped a Kite Sail to said pirate ship, giving it flying. So imagine this giant ship, covered in huge sails, then someone climbs up the widow's peak and attaches a kite to it. Suddenly this ship rises out of the sea and starts flying. Haha, apparently it just needed that last tiny sail to get out of the water 🤣🤣🤣
I think Bosh can, in fact throw himself, yes. He doesn't leave play until the ability goes on the stack, so his last action is to pitch himself at whomever is the most optimal target... unless you have something to dredge him from the graveyard, then he comes back to throw himself at something else, XD
My favorite flavor misstep is a very simple one: treefolk don’t have reach Spiders, whose webs can only reach as high as the trees they live in, have reach. But the trees themselves, don’t. Pick on all your Doran the Siege Tower friends

I love the interaction between those red spells that give you an extra turn but you lose the game in its end step and Sundial of the Infinite. Like, an all powerful spell gives you imense power at great cost and then everyone just forgets its consequences and carries on with their lives
My favorite weird thing has to be the interaction of 4 cards that I have seen illustrated at some points. Take Nicol Bolas (the creature) Take Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker Play Mycosynth lettuce (yes, lettuce!) Play Bludgeon Brawl Now you can equip Nicol Bolas (creature) with Nicol Bolas (PW) and smash your enemys head (assuming, he does not have something like a Goldenglow Moth fluttering in the way)

I put Prowler's Helm in my Arcades Commander deck for this very reason. Having a wall be unblockable except by other walls because it's wearing a helmet that supposedly makes the wearer more stealthy just seems awesome to me.
During a Throne of Eldraine of sealed event where I animated my Giant Fork with an Animating Faerie, which was Claimed as the First Born then was apparently was as Tall as a Beanstalk killed me. Oko also watched that.
Well, speaking of nylea, God-etrnal oketra also has no anti-air defence. And this zombie-cat-goddess-covered-in-blue-metal actualy did shoot down gideon's pegasus if I remember it correctly.
One of the things that never made sense to me is sacrifying things with veil and indestructable, like how? I just grab a dagger and stab a literal god and says "yea you got me" and dies Or like something with veil, nobody can see it, not even me but hey "come here you're getting sacrificed, if you weren't hiding i could've just blinked you but erebos says you die and you die come here" and says "aw man that sucks" and dies
I was keeping pretty composed until "Picture Ghalta... driving around a submarine." If that image is not made in to a shirt/badge/playmat design then there is no justice in the world XD
Just from Theros block one of my favorite things was attaching feather fleet sandals on Colossus of Akros. Giant Spartan statue guarding the city puts on sandals and just starts floating mid air lol
To be fair, Arcades is the only one that makes sense. He's an elder dragon, he can do w/e he wants with magic so its reasonable that he'd just magic some limbs onto the wall or something.
even worse for Nylea, if you were to assume that the bow she uses is the same as the legendary enchantment artifact, that DOES give the ability to ping fliers. (although it has several other aspects that are not represented in her cards...
Here are my faves: 1) Thespian Stage has actors that can pretend to be in a giant frozen chasm so well that it somehow summons a Marit Lage. 2) If you try hard enough, you can kill someone by attacking them with a Nicol Bolas Planeswalker that is dual-wielding two other Nicol Bolas Planeswalkers that are also equipment. 3) Sanguine Bond + Exquisite Blood combo + Grand Abolisher protection on an opponent who has a Platinum Angel means you're basically a vampire that's sucking your opponent's blood, and you like it so much that every time you suck their blood, it makes you suck even more blood. Eventually you suck out all their blood but somehow you keep sucking until your opponent has negative blood, and they're a withered husk of skin and bones. Your opponent wants to die, but some angel said he's physically not allowed to give up. So your mummified opponent is just waiting there, and he can't die, but he also can't do anything because some knight-looking guy with a mace is just standing there and staring him down, so your opponent has to sit there and wait for you to be done sucking his non-existent blood before he can do anything. However, you like the taste of blood so much that even though your opponent ran out of blood a long time ago, you physically can't stop yourself from just dry sucking the air out of his veins for the rest of time, so you're both just frozen in place, unable to escape your mutual prison, and the game ends in a tie.
Some of my best stories. Throne of Eldraine prerelease I Trapped in a Tower my opponents Crashing Drawbridge. A Commander game I played Wall of Runes a friend played Trip Noose to tap my wall and then used Royal Assassin to kill it. Friend had a archer deck with tons of destroy Flying creatures in it as well as Sky Games which allows a land to tap to give creatures Flying (she would say "Pull" every time she did that combo). Finally used Saving Grace on a Hornet Nest when someone played Star of Extinction. So in short I locked a bridge in a tower, had a magic wall of runes get tripped and backstabbed by a professional assassin, had a land that launched my stuff in the air to be target practice, and a hornet net nobly sacrifice itself to protect my creatures from an extinction level event. Good times. Also I have an Arcades deck that gave the defenders First Strike and Vigilance. Made a joke that when combat happened the walls would quickly fall onto the creatures and quickly stand back up.
I like to think about theroan gods. They just sit up there, counting down the ammount of devotion they have, jumping in as soon as you reach it just to step back when you lose just ONE point.
Wait emrakul cant be killed by squirrels or spiders due to protection from colour.. right? And can protection from coloured mean shes unblockable essentially?
An elder dragon wearing 2 pairs of boots, 3 suits of armor, wielding 4 swords, and was turned into an eldrazi, has their attack blocked single dove with no powers.
Arcades is the one that makes the most sense to me, as far as i understand he can enchant walls with glyphs and whatnot to basically control walls like in a shifting maze to entrap and push out parts of them to bludgeon the enemies.

I like this kind of humor and I think you deliver it very well Mitch, please do more! I find it very amusing that a game with these ridiculously silly scenarios is so complex and kinda hard to get to, even to a point where some people gate keep it for taking it way to seriously - not to mention that it may cost a lot. Anyways thanks for the laughters.
My favorite flavor fact is that Novablast Wurm, a creature that destroys all other creatures when it attacks, isn't legendary. This means that there are MULTIPLE Novablast Wurms running around on Zendikar, which you would think would make the plane uninhabitable, but apparently not.
You could do an entire episode just on fling. Brion Stoutarm can throw ghosts and spirits. He can grab incorporeal things and throw them. Bosh can throw indestructible artifacts that somehow break when they hit your face. He can throw artifact lands. Norin the Wary actually can be thrown by Brion before he runs away and hides. Combining two of the previous weird interactions, Bosh can throw hot soup at you. That's a flavor win in more ways than one.
Back around Ixalan, a joke was made at my Local Game Store that one of our old players would only come back if he could have dinosaurs driving cars. Then Ixalan spoiled all its dinosaurs and the store erupted into chants of "Dinosaurs in Cadillacs!" or "Dinos in Caddies!" Because the idea of a massive T-rex sitting in a tiny car and driving it was so cartoonish, we all loved the idea XD
Honestly, this was so fun to watch, and it really is funny to think about, i laughed the most when you the insect, crewed, then crewd, then crewed, ...etc. My imagination went crazy thinking about that.
Funniest thing I think of when it comes to magic card interactions is the stack. *Ahem* The Scene: Two powerful wizards, stand opposite one another on the cliffs of mountains that they themselves have spawned. Wizard 1 hurls a Fireball towards towards Wizard 2. Wizard 2, after a moment of contemplation, sees the fireball hurtling towards them, and then causes the ground beneath Wizard 1 to crack and gurgle, as magma threatens to jet upwards. Wizard 1, contemplates his opponents move, and the bubbling heat of the ground, and summons a lightning bolt in his hand, and throws it at his opponent, it's speed surpassing that of the fireball. Wizard 2, upon seeing this bolt of lightning scorch across the sky, meanders over to a small shrine he summoned earlier, praying at it and cracking it. Unleashing a spirit of Burning Rage, that races at more than lightning speeds towards Wizard 1. Wizard 1, having enough of this little dual, casually counts the number of things done in that last couple moments. Spawns a magic shotgun, loads it with grapeshot and shoots it at his opponent. Winning the dual. The fireball, which was launched to what seems like an eternity ago, dissipates, never facing it's target.
I call the infinite combination of "Stuffy Doll" "Druid's Call" and "Blasting Station" the Squirrel loaded Minigun. you are essentially using squirrels as the ammunition for the minigun that is blasting station xD

I think one of my flavor oddities is just the card Felidar Soverign. You and presumably an opposing planeswalker are dueling to the death using the lifeforce of the very lands around you, but a funky cat admired what good dietary habits and healthy practices you've been picking up so your opponent submits to you and goes home.
Lastly we have a running joke with one of our friend's Commander decks: The Scarab God. He's made the deck so it pretty much runs everything over with trample. So naturally one day he was dominating the battlefield by trampling everything underfoot, and another player played the Thomas the Tank Engine theme but with full-bass. It is now The Scarab God's theme song.
That thing about the Nezahal with the equipment. That actually came up a couple of times as I was trying to explain what was happening to my mother. Once in magic itself, where I think it was a snake at the time that had like 5 swords equipped, and in League of Legends as well where she frowned, "But this lady has a gun, why do you keep buying her swords? How is she even wielding all the swords at once?" To which I have to admit that no, it doesn't make any sense, but that's how the game works.
The Jeskai Elder is another running gag in our group. There isn't any weird interaction, we just love the artwork. In a game she was constantly killing everything else (I don't really remember the specifics), but we ended up just putting it into our headcanon that she was just breaking everyone's necks with the same look on her face. So every so often one of us will make a breaking-neck motion to imply that an ability is super powerful on the field and we all get a kick out of seeing the Jeskai Elder's neutral face breaking necks on the battlefield.

@@tinyhawk6427 Good question! There is a big difference between mana *fixing* (which Traveler's Amulet does) and mana *ramp* (Wayfarers Bauble). The Amulet will get a land into your hand, which is useful so you dont miss land drops and you're set up for future turns, but Waferers Bauble is one of the few ways a non-Green deck can get an extra land directly into play, which speeds up your mana for the rest of the game. A Turn One Wayfarers Bauble, sacrificing it on Turn Two, plus your land drop for the turn means you'll have 4 lands by turn 3, rather than just 3. That's the value of ramp in commander; its to make your plays a turn earlier if possible and keep up the tempo. Hopefully I cleared it up!
Btw Travelers Amulet is still a good card, especially useful for multicolor decks that dont run green, or artifact-synergy decks. It just doesnt do what Wayfarers Bauble does. Also real-world price is a lot lower for Travelers Amulet is a whole lot lower cause its seen a lot of Standard-legal reprints in previous sets (such as the gorgeous Theros Beyond Death art), while Wayfarers Bauble has seen far fewer large-set reprints..

I built a Sun Qon Lord of Wu deck and always talked about how funny he made every creature ride a horse. Or that Eldrazi have no idea what to do when someone riding a horse comes charging.

I built a deck with this legendary as the commander, but instead I shoved in everything that had to do with horses in blue... Even a Horseshoe Crab. Both horses and the horseshoe crab somehow rides horses.

For Arcades I like to think he's sitting at a large chess board and his walls are pieces. He slides the wall on the board and the wall gets slid across the field into an enemy. Made doubly fun with Tetsuko Umezawa to make your walls unblockable. Umezawa opens a portal, and Arcades just slides a wall straight through to smush an opponent.
With omniscience out, arcades just starts pulling walls out of different planes in the multiverse and puts it on his chess board.

Though, any bow would work, due to the whole Theros belief system having the effect of making it Nylea's Bow, because belief says that the bow she has in her hands is the one and only version.
Remember the Elspeth storyline, she kept SAYING she had Khrusor (but it wasn't), and eventually, everyone believed it was true...so it was true.
I think it’s more cause both Nylea cards are part of the gods cycles, so if Nylea had reach, then RnD would need to put another ability on each of the other gods, in order not to trigger the OCD of every magic player and designer.
And probably that could have been done, but likely due to gods already being indestructible, if you put another keyword outside of the rather weak reach on them, they would become quite OP.

Yeah, that’s true.
However since those specific keywords are not evergreen ( that are always used in every set in some quantity, like flying or haste ) I don’t think that they were going to put them on only one random card. I’m not saying that there are no alternatives, just that those specific ones are a little far fetched.
But yeah, other solutions could have been found, I am just expressing why I think they went with this instead.
My favorite weird thing that has happened that i can think of:
My buddy crewed up a vehicle that was a pirate ship, (can't remember the card name). Then he equipped a Kite Sail to said pirate ship, giving it flying. So imagine this giant ship, covered in huge sails, then someone climbs up the widow's peak and attaches a kite to it. Suddenly this ship rises out of the sea and starts flying. Haha, apparently it just needed that last tiny sail to get out of the water 🤣🤣🤣

I think Bosh can, in fact throw himself, yes. He doesn't leave play until the ability goes on the stack, so his last action is to pitch himself at whomever is the most optimal target... unless you have something to dredge him from the graveyard, then he comes back to throw himself at something else, XD

What gets me is that as it turns out, *most* archers don't have reach. And neither do giants.
Many spiders can use their webs to reverse parachute at that on which they feed. In Brazil, spiders fall from the sky.

I put Prowler's Helm in my Arcades Commander deck for this very reason. Having a wall be unblockable except by other walls because it's wearing a helmet that supposedly makes the wearer more stealthy just seems awesome to me.
During a Throne of Eldraine of sealed event where I animated my Giant Fork with an Animating Faerie, which was Claimed as the First Born then was apparently was as Tall as a Beanstalk killed me. Oko also watched that.
In Eldraine it all make sense for sure...

The vehicle one really made me laugh. I never played with vehicles, so I never thought about the fact that vehicles can crew other vehicles.
Well, speaking of nylea, God-etrnal oketra also has no anti-air defence. And this zombie-cat-goddess-covered-in-blue-metal actualy did shoot down gideon's pegasus if I remember it correctly.
One of the things that never made sense to me is sacrifying things with veil and indestructable, like how? I just grab a dagger and stab a literal god and says "yea you got me" and dies
Or like something with veil, nobody can see it, not even me but hey "come here you're getting sacrificed, if you weren't hiding i could've just blinked you but erebos says you die and you die come here" and says "aw man that sucks" and dies

Just from Theros block one of my favorite things was attaching feather fleet sandals on Colossus of Akros. Giant Spartan statue guarding the city puts on sandals and just starts floating mid air lol

To be fair, Arcades is the only one that makes sense. He's an elder dragon, he can do w/e he wants with magic so its reasonable that he'd just magic some limbs onto the wall or something.

even worse for Nylea, if you were to assume that the bow she uses is the same as the legendary enchantment artifact, that DOES give the ability to ping fliers. (although it has several other aspects that are not represented in her cards...
Here are my faves:
1) Thespian Stage has actors that can pretend to be in a giant frozen chasm so well that it somehow summons a Marit Lage.
2) If you try hard enough, you can kill someone by attacking them with a Nicol Bolas Planeswalker that is dual-wielding two other Nicol Bolas Planeswalkers that are also equipment.
3) Sanguine Bond + Exquisite Blood combo + Grand Abolisher protection on an opponent who has a Platinum Angel means you're basically a vampire that's sucking your opponent's blood, and you like it so much that every time you suck their blood, it makes you suck even more blood. Eventually you suck out all their blood but somehow you keep sucking until your opponent has negative blood, and they're a withered husk of skin and bones. Your opponent wants to die, but some angel said he's physically not allowed to give up. So your mummified opponent is just waiting there, and he can't die, but he also can't do anything because some knight-looking guy with a mace is just standing there and staring him down, so your opponent has to sit there and wait for you to be done sucking his non-existent blood before he can do anything. However, you like the taste of blood so much that even though your opponent ran out of blood a long time ago, you physically can't stop yourself from just dry sucking the air out of his veins for the rest of time, so you're both just frozen in place, unable to escape your mutual prison, and the game ends in a tie.
My favorite flavor judge moment ive experienced was using a frost titan to tap down a snow covered island

Some of my best stories. Throne of Eldraine prerelease I Trapped in a Tower my opponents Crashing Drawbridge. A Commander game I played Wall of Runes a friend played Trip Noose to tap my wall and then used Royal Assassin to kill it. Friend had a archer deck with tons of destroy Flying creatures in it as well as Sky Games which allows a land to tap to give creatures Flying (she would say "Pull" every time she did that combo). Finally used Saving Grace on a Hornet Nest when someone played Star of Extinction. So in short I locked a bridge in a tower, had a magic wall of runes get tripped and backstabbed by a professional assassin, had a land that launched my stuff in the air to be target practice, and a hornet net nobly sacrifice itself to protect my creatures from an extinction level event. Good times. Also I have an Arcades deck that gave the defenders First Strike and Vigilance. Made a joke that when combat happened the walls would quickly fall onto the creatures and quickly stand back up.

Emrakul has protection from colored spells, which is not the same as protection from color.
An elder dragon wearing 2 pairs of boots, 3 suits of armor, wielding 4 swords, and was turned into an eldrazi, has their attack blocked single dove with no powers.
I’ve never thought to take the mechanics literally. It’s actually pretty funny the ridiculous combos you can come up with.
Arcades is the one that makes the most sense to me, as far as i understand he can enchant walls with glyphs and whatnot to basically control walls like in a shifting maze to entrap and push out parts of them to bludgeon the enemies.
I personally like breaking an egg and then have an Eldritch horror pop out of it
In my Ilharg EDH deck I've always loved the idea of Crystal Slippers equipped to him. He cuts an imposing figure in crystalline pumps on each hoof.

I like this kind of humor and I think you deliver it very well Mitch, please do more! I find it very amusing that a game with these ridiculously silly scenarios is so complex and kinda hard to get to, even to a point where some people gate keep it for taking it way to seriously - not to mention that it may cost a lot. My favorite flavor fact is that Novablast Wurm, a creature that destroys all other creatures when it attacks, isn't legendary. This means that there are MULTIPLE Novablast Wurms running around on Zendikar, which you would think would make the plane uninhabitable, but apparently not.
You could do an entire episode just on fling. Brion Stoutarm can throw ghosts and spirits. He can grab incorporeal things and throw them. Bosh can throw indestructible artifacts that somehow break when they hit your face. He can throw artifact lands. Norin the Wary actually can be thrown by Brion before he runs away and hides. Combining two of the previous weird interactions, Bosh can throw hot soup at you. That's a flavor win in more ways than one.
Back around Ixalan, a joke was made at my Local Game Store that one of our old players would only come back if he could have dinosaurs driving cars.
Then Ixalan spoiled all its dinosaurs and the store erupted into chants of "Dinosaurs in Cadillacs!" or "Dinos in Caddies!"
Because the idea of a massive T-rex sitting in a tiny car and driving it was so cartoonish, we all loved the idea XD

Funniest thing I think of when it comes to magic card interactions is the stack.
*Ahem* The Scene: Two powerful wizards, stand opposite one another on the cliffs of mountains that they themselves have spawned.
Wizard 1 hurls a Fireball towards towards Wizard 2.
Wizard 2, after a moment of contemplation, sees the fireball hurtling towards them, and then causes the ground beneath Wizard 1 to crack and gurgle, as magma threatens to jet upwards.
Wizard 1, contemplates his opponents move, and the bubbling heat of the ground, and summons a lightning bolt in his hand, and throws it at his opponent, it's speed surpassing that of the fireball.
Wizard 2, upon seeing this bolt of lightning scorch across the sky, meanders over to a small shrine he summoned earlier, praying at it and cracking it. Unleashing a spirit of Burning Rage, that races at more than lightning speeds towards Wizard 1.
Wizard 1, having enough of this little dual, casually counts the number of things done in that last couple moments. Spawns a magic shotgun, loads it with grapeshot and shoots it at his opponent. Winning the dual.
The fireball, which was launched to what seems like an eternity ago, dissipates, never facing it's target.

I think one of my flavor oddities is just the card Felidar Soverign. You and presumably an opposing planeswalker are dueling to the death using the lifeforce of the very lands around you, but a funky cat admired what good dietary habits and healthy practices you've been picking up so your opponent submits to you and goes home.
I haven’t laughed that hard at a RUclips video in a long time. I almost spit my coffee onto my phone. 🤣
Lastly we have a running joke with one of our friend's Commander decks: The Scarab God. He's made the deck so it pretty much runs everything over with trample. So naturally one day he was dominating the battlefield by trampling everything underfoot, and another player played the Thomas the Tank Engine theme but with full-bass.
It is now The Scarab God's theme song.

That thing about the Nezahal with the equipment. That actually came up a couple of times as I was trying to explain what was happening to my mother. Once in magic itself, where I think it was a snake at the time that had like 5 swords equipped, and in League of Legends as well where she frowned, "But this lady has a gun, why do you keep buying her swords? How is she even wielding all the swords at once?" To which I have to admit that no, it doesn't make any sense, but that's how the game works.
The Jeskai Elder is another running gag in our group. There isn't any weird interaction, we just love the artwork. In a game she was constantly killing everything else (I don't really remember the specifics), but we ended up just putting it into our headcanon that she was just breaking everyone's necks with the same look on her face. So every so often one of us will make a breaking-neck motion to imply that an ability is super powerful on the field and we all get a kick out of seeing the Jeskai Elder's neutral face breaking necks on the battlefield.
