Hello everyone!! I have been obsessed with the denim maxi skirt looks this fall, so again... I had to create my own!! This time I will be taking a pair of denim jeans I already own to create this look and I am in love with the results!!! Now I just need to actually go out and wear it!!
This was just a super quick sewing tutorial on how I do it, you can use this technique with pants you already own! Please comment below if you have any specific questions :)

Great tutorial, you simplified how to turn jeans into a skirt. Other tutorials I've watched made me lose interest and they made it seem difficult. Your technique seems much easier and less time consuming.
Anyone remember "Home Economics" classes in the 70s, made my own prom dress, as well as one of these....❤❤

Yes, I had Home Ec in the 80's... it makes no sense that these classes no longer exist in schools now.

This is a much better method than the tutorials that cut off entirely below the fly and then re-attach the bottom of the skirt as one piece.

You don't have too, I have done it also without moving the waist, it just takes a little more time I find to manipulate and move the flaps around to make it lay nicely to sew back together.
Saw this...made 2 yesterday...EASY! and LOVE! Thank you! (The hardest part is the seam ripping)
I handmade 2 of these back I'm the early 2000s. Definitely will be making more

Cassie Chick, OMGosh this skirt turned out so Cute and So Girly. I love being a girl who not only can wear the skirt but knew how to sew it! bI thank my grand ma, Mom and sister who taught me how to do it. I have met people who could not sew on a button to save their life!lol I try to pass it on if one has the patience to learn it! They are usually amazed when they learn how easy and useful that was! The end result looks amazing and the comments are all so positive so maybe it's just me? Tried following this but I'm so confused. Did you unstitch the bottom of the legs wholes or between the crotch? It looks like you unstitched both sides of the leg inside and outside but now that I've done that then you flipped it over and both the front and back two whole pieces.. Is there a written version of your instructions because I've definitely done it wrong and ruined a pair of jeans :( Maybe showing the entire jeans/skirt throughout the whole process may have been more helpful x

When you over lap the crotch in the front there is a front crotch underneath. What did you do with that piece?
I just cut out the inside extra crotch piece , and some I just left if it wasn’t too bulky. Depending on how lazy I was

Was it difficult to see over the thick angled crotch seam in the front?
Surprisingly it wasn’t too bad, I just went slow and used a denim needle ❤️
Does this require a surger or will a regular sewing machine be fine

I did the same thing haha! I used a straight legged pair of jeans, not sure if you can see it in the thumbnail. Allowing me to take in if needed.

Thank you! I did it with a pair that was straight leg, with some room to take in if needed in case I messed up. I never tried with skinny jeans, but a part of me feels like it may work but just a tighter look because you will have less fabric..?!

Oh I needed this, I have so many jeans and I'm looking at maxi skirt prices, it makes no sense. The skirt is in style now so the price has tripled, no I'm trying this.
Right?! these prices are wild!! We all have pants at home we can use!! I just made another using cargo shorts for a mini skirt, the options are endless

I wish you had made this video without the clicking soundtrack in the background. That sound is so irritating. It is beyond me why youtubers think you need to put a background sound on your videos. You lose a lot of viewers, like me, who have sound sensitivities.
Lol I still have my blue jean maxi skirts
I had these darts at the front and I wanted to take them out because they made the crotch so weird looking to me. So now I have 2 empty space at the waistband. I was thinking that i would full them in when I cut the skirt to length, but I don't know how long i want it😅
I also don't want to seam rip all the way up the butt because I don't want to take in my jeans i want to expand the waist band and make them midrise. (they were highwaisted pants before but wayyy to tight i got stomachaches)However i'm getting a weird transtion seam at the butthole i might just have to seamrip it anyway.
Sl now I think i'm just going to flip them inside out and take away the extra crotch flaps? How much though? 🤔
How do I know if I need to take anything from the waist? Do you have any others but slower with more details?

Oh wow Cassie! Just watched Style Insider and she linked this tutorial. I couldn’t find a skirt I and was wondering about making my own but wasn’t quite sure how to go about it.
I would prefer the opening not to be mid thigh - could you suggest how I could fill in the missing panel. I think I would prefer an opening in the back, but I have to say your skirt looks fabulous on you!
Presumably a wider leg jean would be better for this type of transformation?
