    On a short note: my recently bought AD100 has no green tint. Godox changed the fresnel.

      Thx Heiko for the info. I also contacted my retailer and they are even swapping parts to fix it as I was told. I am really happy that this was solved.

    No brainer to go for the AD200pro since it is the same price as the AD100 even if it was a perfect light with no issues. Also the ability to combine AD200's together makes it honestly the best flash in the market for this price range.

    I went to the camera store last year looking at the AD100. The salesmen pointed out that for a just a bit more, I could bump up to the AD200 (not even the pro) and get a lot more quality. So, I went with the AD200Pro along with a 450Pro. I definitely want another AD200Pro for outdoor work.

      I did a measurement right now using the AD100 in a Godox Umbrealla UB-105S with diffusion cloth in front of it. With your settings and the AD100 at full power I got just f6.3. This was just one flash and not two. From my experience these flashes are not really powerful enough and I also burned one when shooting at full power for 15 minutes. From my perspective I would go for the AD200s.

  • @Potalakh
    @Potalakh 6 месяцев назад +1

    The same thoughts, but i would recomend ad300pro as the main flash and ad100pro as backlights.

    Godox makes an adapter to allow speedlights to use the AK-R1 kit. Works well enough for what the kit is.

    When you fire your flash at full power it is advisable to zoom it out away from the difusor because it releases huge ammount of heat when fired at full power.
    This is completely normal thing and it happened to my Nikon SB-700 flash aswell.
    As for the green tint that problem has been resolved by Godox. Just got the new type of AD100 PRO with the pink filter pre-installed and it solved the green tint issue.

    • @ego-shooters
      @ego-shooters  Год назад +1

      Thx for the Info on the green tint issue. Concerning the heat and the modifier: I had it in the S2 Bracket in a 80 cm softbox. I think it is really bad if just 20 flashes within 5 minutes causes that burn. Anyway I am making sure that I will stick to my 1/4 or less rules for the Ad100Pro also :-)

      Just try to zoom out flash blub to 80-100mm back while shooting full power and problem solved.
      And because you use sofbox, there won’t be any difference.

    • @ego-shooters
      @ego-shooters  Год назад +1

      ah ok you mean the internal zoom of the flash, I thought you meant moving the flash in the modifier

    • @Marko-od7eb
      @Marko-od7eb Год назад

      @@ego-shooters
      Yes, the internal zoom.
      I never shoot it too close while on full power because of overheating issues and of course it burns the plastic because all that heat has to go somwhere.
      And that’s not bad design by Godox.
      The very same thing happens to almost all Nikon flashes aswell if you use full power for prolonged time.

    • @ego-shooters
      @ego-shooters  Год назад +1

      hm, I think it is a "weird" design then if you have to rely on your gear. Maybe they should have included some metal items to lead the heat out.

    As others noted, the green tint has been fixed. It was fixed before you made this video. Given your need for 600 and 1200 watt lights, it’s clearly not for you (it took me 15 min to fix my AD100, just bought a second (already fixed) in November.

    • @ego-shooters
      @ego-shooters  9 месяцев назад

      I use >200 WS only when I am using larger modifiers like >120cm in diameter. Concerning the green tint: I found out that there is even a repair service by my retailer, will have that done, soon. Doing it myself with the adequate magenta gel would have cancelled my warranty so I did not do that, used some gels with the AK-R1 sometimes.

    I had two - they both melted with black carbon buildup beneath the plastic lens, on the plastics that surround the bulb, and some actual melting of the fresnel plastic. Was very disappointed, especially after owned several Godox speed lights, 200s, a 600 and 300. Thinking back now, especially with the V1 in their product line, I don't know why they green lit this project.

    I have two AD100pro units, I had them about the same amount of time as you, usage amount, about the same I guess perhaps a little less. one of mine just had that same burn-in just the other day. My initial guess was that it was because I had placed it rigged to the sealing facing down and being on for a few hours, perhaps that "facing down" meant that the heat had little space to escape. Your video is 4 months old, how are your burned in unit holding up today?

    • @ego-shooters
      @ego-shooters  8 месяцев назад +1

      Id some more shoots with it but my "standard shoots" indoors with power settings not above 1/4 and it is working. I am using two to illuminate the white backdrop so then both shoot at the same distance, one left, one right, no differences experienced in performance. In general: I will retire these units in the future and use them as backup only.

    Tell me why this is a bad idea: use the ad100 with an x2 trigger and a short cold shoe magic arm as an on camera flash instead of the v1.

    • @ego-shooters
      @ego-shooters  11 месяцев назад +1

      interesting idea, you just need to test if it fires reliably, because the triggers usually should not be too close to the flash for firing reliably. At least that was like that some years ago, haven't tried it like that.

    • @Nickporter17
      @Nickporter17 11 месяцев назад

      @@ego-shooters oh interesting! I wonder if that will be an issue. I can test with my other godox stuff to see before I order. I need it on camera flash it's between this wacky idea or just a simple V1. What do you think?

    • @ego-shooters
      @ego-shooters  11 месяцев назад +3

      This "the trigger is too close" was constantly a topic in the tech forums, there is also a setting within the trigger to set distance from 0-30 or 1-100 meters, maybe it is not an issue anymore if you configure it correctly. With a V1 you might have an easier handling but your idea is pretty nerdy, I like that. I am releasing a long-term V1 review this afternoon European time btw.
