Thank you for all your content and effort. My wife is physically disabled and her mobility has drastically decreased in the last year. A few months ago I started looking into work that would allow me more time home, but also afford us a vehicle (I bike everywhere currently). I dove deep into this reselling niche, and the ins and outs. I just have to order a printer soon, but my scale and shipping materials arrived today. I picked up 40 Ralph Lauren\LL Bean\\Nike clothing lot at a garage sale for 20 dollars, a bunch of sealed movies, cds, and cassettes (about 80 total for 30 dollars) and a handful of other goodies. Once the printer comes I will begin my new journey. Thank you again, Justin. You’ve been illuminating the path for me. Appreciate you 🤝
@Six3Cyclist If you want to get started before your printer arrives, you can purchase labels on eBay and request a QR code instead of printing a label. The code comes to your email & can be scanned by the post office. They print the label at the counter, or you can do it on the self-service machine. I don't have a printer. I've been using the QR code for over a year. Works great until maybe you are mailing 10 plus items a day.
Justin is great. I, too, sell full-time because I care for my elderly mother, who has dementia. I also help with my sister, who has a lung disease. It's hard taking care of a loved one, and I will be praying for your wife and you as well. Definitely consider the QR codes and let the USPS print the postage at the post office until you get your printer. It takes time, but with combination of hard work and learning will help your business grow. I sold my first item on ebay in 2004. For years I only sold here and there, and I actually got into selling cars for people. Life happens and I stopped selling for a long time. Installed back part time 18 months ago while I did another job from home. My sales during Q4 convinced me to take the plunge and do this full-time. June was my best month yet. My niece is helping me build up a draft bank over the summer while she isn't teaching. Try to think long term and don't get tied down worrying if sales slack temporary. That happens sometimes, and it isnt always because you did or did not do something. Consistent listing seems to be the main key.
@@misslashayresells3853 Oh this is so excellent! I actually rode out this morning to grab a printer, but I'm happy for the knowledge for when I'll need it in the future. Thank you!
Can you make a video going over you accounting method. How you prepare for tax season, or smart ways to pre plan. Also when I sell an item on Facebook market place, I input it as a credit on Flipwise. I am assuming that's what you do too. It would be cool if you could add a ledger allowing us to input data from selling on other platforms. I appreciate you and everything you are doing for the community. You have taught me so much and I have avoided so many mistakes because of you.
"It's a small world after all!" Your dry humor is hilarious! Your information is invaluable! I'm struggling with sales, but it's good to know that June is often slow. I can hope that it picks up soon!
10:40 I started using blaze which I think is a chrome extension and I love it for very quickly typing out things that don't change like my basic condition description I just type /cond and it automatically fills in what I normally put there if there's nothing wrong with the item. For my description template I type /desc and my template pops in. I can create different templates and you can create just about anything with it to auto fill with just a few strokes on the keyboard. I love it. 😅
Talking about parting out, We just got a new fridge and electric range. I’ve been able to sell parts of the old appliances, plastic shelves, ice maker, stove broiler and baking elements, etc. real surprised. Great ideas.
On STR, while it’s a good metric to check, as long as it’s not zero (or close to 0), I think this question is more important: Would you be happy to sell the item at the lowest price listed? If the answer is yes (and you’ll make enough money to be worth your time), I’d go for it.
As a hobby seller I agree. I love selling vintage clothing. Some of it takes a while and sell through rates can be nonexistent but some of the pieces are so cool and I love knowing they’re getting a new life:)
I would personally disagree, I find it to be a very important metric. I use it in deciding whether or not to purchase an item to begin with. An item with 100 listed and 10 sold indicates it may take up to 10- 90 day cycles for your item to sell, even if you are good with the lowest price that is potentially a long time to wait. I might still buy it if it has significant value, but I am better off buying a less valuable item that sells quicker. Many digital cameras right now have 1000+% sell through rates, so I can base my purchase decision on that (ie a no brainer).
I am so happy to hear that question answered about where you apply the costs of shipping supplies to your expenses! I was wondering the same. I'm just getting started (again) and haven't gone live with any listings yet. But I'm keeping track both ways. I'm doing old school analog pen and paper record keeping for now 😊. I guess it doesn't matter much right now because I'm going to be getting an accountant. What I REALLY want to know is when I can write off my office and tool supplies. I spent a good chunk of change on a desk, chair, lighting, etc...and won't even make enough in sales this year to offset that so it would be a waste of a write off if I had to claim it all at once for this year. I'd rather be able to apply it to a year when I can deduct from some profit to lower my tax burden. Again....a question for my future accountant!
Wow I just purchases Flipwise right before the 4th of July. I love it, wish I could of got the 33% off, but the interface is worth every dollar I paid for it. It's a game change. Thank you for creating it.
If I list an item for say $60 with free shipping or $45 with $15 shipping, is one of these options more likely to be purchased? I’m not sure how much people are paying attention to the free shipping aspect. Also, if someone does a search for an item at a particular price range, would offering free shipping but at a higher item price possibly keep my item out of the search results when my item would have showed up with the lower list price and shipping fee? I hope I explained this well
Random and odd tip here for people who are buying bubble wrap for shipping: If you know someone who has a swimming pool and they're buying a new solar cover, usually those covers have to be trimmed. Solar covers are literally giant sheets of industrial bubble wrap. The trimmed sections can be HUGE and they'll just be thrown away. Get em'! Bit of a strange and specific tip but free bubble wrap!
Probably the smartest answer I have heard on STR yet on YT. STR is only one part of the reselling equation. Too many new resellers get caught up in striving for a 200% sell through rate (not a real thing) and walk by money every day. Actually, Justin is the only reseller I have ever seen that has a 300% STR. He has literally sold the same soccer jersey 3 flipping times!!!
I bought what I thought was a camera bag, brought it home and discovered it was a Discman holder, with an STR under 10%. I sighed, listed it anyway, and sold it in 3 days.
Hi Justin, Thanks for answering all of these questions! In this video someone asked a tax question. Before you developed Flipwise, how did you keep up with all of the expenses eBay charged to report taxes? Does eBay offer monthly or annual report that separates purchase price from the fees, taxes and shipping label expenses to help with taxes at the end of each month, or year? Thanks again for all of your knowledge and help!

The tracking shows forwarded but not delivered. The post office confirmed this also. The buyer is claiming he did not get it and wants a refund. How would you deal with this? I didn’t think they were supposed to change address after shipping? Thanks for all your very helpful videos.
How do you calculate profit? I sold a Keyfab for my old car ( which got wrecked ). If the cost of my car and keyfab was 30k and I sold the keyfab for $30 does that mean my profit for this item is -$29,970?

Do you send offers whenever you can? I usually price things as low as I can, and then I send out offers and end up lost more profit. I never use AI to write my descriptions mostly because when I'm buying it's REALLY annoying to have to read through all that schmooz when I'm trying to purchase something. I do not want to put my buyers through that♡♡♡
You can create a listing and instead of hitting the list button do save for later and it will be a draft that you can then list at a later date. Some people like to build up their drafts so they can then quickly hit list on weekends or days they couldn’t get to listing.
With being half way through the year. If I were to get flip wise, does it automatically link sales, would it back date previous sale with the option to update buy cost ect? Thank you
Justin, Do you return the original shipping if an item is returned for other reasons than doesn’t work or not as described? ie doesn’t fit don’t like color? Thanks
Good job of saying you don’t give tax advice while you’re giving, however minor, tax advice. There are numbers on the amount of income you must pay income taxes on and sales taxes are handled on the state level. At small amounts I wouldn’t worry, but if you start making decent money you better consult a tax advisor (NOT uncle Joe who has never owned a business in his life). I could go on, but just be careful. The government’s position is that it’s their money and you can’t keep it. lol. seriously.

I never use AI to write my descriptions mostly because when I'm buying it's REALLY annoying to have to read through all that schmooz when I'm trying to purchase something. I do not want to put my buyers through that♡♡♡
Is flipwise just for the eBay platform?
Do you always charge shipping?
What is a draft bank
You can create a listing and instead of hitting the list button do save for later and it will be a draft that you can then list at a later date. Some people like to build up their drafts so they can then quickly hit list on weekends or days they couldn’t get to listing.
If I get flipwise does it import my sales from the first of the year from eBay? I want to utilize it for tax purposes so I need my prior sales info.
yes, it goes back two years
I knew ab velvet but I nvr knew ab Velcro… thx.
With being half way through the year. If I were to get flip wise, does it automatically link sales, would it back date previous sale with the option to update buy cost ect? Thank you

Was that hairy tornado rummaging in your trash bins
Having trouble boosting my sales
Where is Flipwise on Discord?
it’s a private server for Flipwise members
Justin, Do you return the original shipping if an item is returned for other reasons than doesn’t work or not as described? ie doesn’t fit don’t like color? Thanks
I see that title change
Hate to tell you but you could have gotten $800-$1000 for those boots!
you think? they sat listed at $250 for several months with no bites.
I can’t sell 5.11 stuff to save my life
I didn't have It's A Small World stuck in my head until you suggested it. Thanks NOT! 😂
I use AI description and read over it and edit it or add more relevant info. Do this on all my listings.
The government’s position is that it’s their money and you can’t keep it. lol. seriously.
First!
