    I love that her costume is slowly coming together based on the people she bonds with and as she discovers more of her history. I think the format feels more like destiny rather than her automatically having the outfit. It's like her experience and acts are shaping her into the hero she so desires to be without even noticing it. While I do wish the episode was a bit longer, I really enjoyed it.

    In the comics, Bruno's mother was a drug addict who left him with her parents. In this episode Bruno was saying to Kamran that his noni, grandmother, left him some lasagna that Kamran could have just before the drone showed up. Also Kamala's mom mentioned his grandmother when she handed him the bag of food in episode 1.

      i really hope they get to bond over the trauma of both being abandoned .. ofc Kamran’s just happened but Bruno needs to express that kinda trauma to someone to let himself realize that he is much better off on his own… i say this from a biased perspective but i jus really wanna see that kind of trauma bond on screen. it’s something that not a lot of people can just talk about easily and ESPECIALLY hard for men who feel they can’t express anything without being viewed as lesser. (once again biased but i feel it’s an important message.)

      In the comics they're pariahs for the usual reasons - being just all around awful people - but this version is a mixture of ClanDestine and Kamran's completely unrelated family, with a little bit of Lineage's "we're simply superior" philosophy

    • @wanderingseth
      @wanderingseth 2 года назад +2

      Don't expect answers - the writers have no idea. They haven't explained any of the mythology in a satisfying manner. The villains were the worst we've ever seen in the MCU, with constantly shifting motivations and an incredibly forgettable presence. Who can even remember the name of Kamran's mother? The CGI when she died was so so so bad I laughed. There are such wonderful elements in Ms Marvel, with amazing characters and some good historical narrative, but my opinion has changed a lot over five episodes. After the first episode I thought it was the strongest show they've done in a while. Now I think it's the weakest.

    Okay so some people had been pointing out that apparently Kamran is some kind of super being in the comics and the power he has are the same ones shown in this episode. The change/adaptation for Kamala’s powers to be more cosmic and more linked to his origins makes a lot more sense now because of the story that they decided to do.

    • @betaich
      @betaich 2 года назад +1

      In the comics Kamran is like Kamala an inhuman though. So they were connected through a common heritage either way and connecting it with the cosmic stuff, would also have been easy since terragin and the inhumans come from Kree experiments and the audience knows the Krees already through Captain Marvel at least.

    I think the veil was a door taking you to where you want to go but can only do so safely for the person wearing the bangle. Kamala wanted to find out what happened with her great grandmother and the train so she got sent there. Kamran's mother originally wanted to get her friends home, but after they were all dead, she wanted to go to her son. A door opened to take her to her son, momentarily, instead of to her home and that somehow closed it while destroying her in the process. And then somehow, that temporary door exposed Kamran to noor, which changed him the same way that the bangle changed Kamala. And maybe the wavy light was supposed to be terrigen (in the comics, Kamran is also an Inhuman and an antagonist). Hard to be sure.
    Anyway, I enjoyed the episode overall, but yes, it could have been improved by ending it earlier and shifting the whole scene with Kamran and Bruno to a post-credit scene instead. It would have been less jarring.

    This episode was very touching/heartwarming in the sense that Kamala connected with Muneeba (her mother), Muneeba reconnected with Sana (her mother). The ending did feel a tad rushed, but I’ve enjoyed the various connections Kamala has made throughout these first five episodes.

    What really grinds me gears about this and other Disney + shows is the run time. This episode is listed at 41 minutes but there are eight minutes and 33 seconds of Marvel Logo Intros, Recaps and End Credits that subtract from that 41 minutes and really give us a 33 minute episode. They either need to make more episodes, make the episodes longer or post the actual run times of the episodes. It sucks to be watching the show and having to do math and see how much is actually left LoL.

    I disagree about the full overarching plot. I think most of it is really good in the sense of, I like her powers. I like the origin of them. I think the flashback was brilliant and I liked going to Karachi. The red dagger didn’t have a ton of screen time but it was enough for me to want to see more of him. Like I would want him to do the comic line where he comes to the US for a bit or even a full series on his own where he’s fighting in Karachi. The red daggers were not just against clandestine, they were basically vigilantes for the streets of Karachi. I really like kamran even, but it’s the other clandestine that we’re the weak links. I’ve had more fun watching this show then most, they’re just one small weak part in an overall brilliant show. I think she needed to find herself in this episode so she can be the hero who saves in the last. That might just be against the DODC and that makes sense narratively, the villains aren’t the strong point of the series but god damn the rest of the show makes up for it. You’re right I want more nakia and the family. Their interactions with Kamala are the best part of the show. And I can’t wait to see them all again in future projects

      @@devar7502 I disagree that it went downhill. I mean I understand where you’re coming from, they used the first three to make us fall in love with her family, friends and world only to spend two full episodes away from all of that and with new characters. That being said, I wouldn’t say those two were bad at all. I love red dagger and want him in more stuff, I love the grandma interactions and her use in character development towards maneeba, and the flashback to partition was beautiful. I do feel like this should have been a season two moment or something to go all the way to Karachi but for what it is I thought it was good. Regardless, the story itself I think is really good for building up Kamala and her friends and family and the origin of her powers. I thoroughly enjoyed episode four and it’s world building and the beginning of episode five, just not a fan of the najma arc. Felt more like a gateway to get to Aisha and kamran being interesting then for najma to be interesting. As a whole it’s one of my favorite marvel projects and I think Iman as Kamala might be the most perfect casting I’ve seen in a while

    I’ve been really enjoying the show but to be honest this episode was very odd to me. The backstory with Aisha was great but the whole Kamala going back in time to save her own grandma, Najma having a complete change in motivation out of no where, Kamran getting his powers and the way the episode ended felt really rushed and didn’t make a whole lot of sense. Hopefully the finale is better and sticks the landing

      Knowing the path Kamran takes in the comics, I'm not sure Najma had altruistic intentions when she sacrificed herself tbh

    It may not seem like it at first but this story is leading somewhere relevant. So, I was catching the bus home from shopping and a pair of friends get on that instantly reminded me of me and my best friend as well as you two in a way. First thing I heard one say was that she doesn't like spicy food and that she has this rice that she doesn't know the name of and she puts this sauce on it that she also doesn't know the name of and it's really nice. There's only a few types of Indian food she likes....but if he wants to go to the Indian restaurant for his birthday that's what they'll do. Instantly I'm reminded of discussions I've had with my best friend although she loves Indian food and I eat what I eat which is also exactly what this girl said so she's the me in the dynamic. Then as if that wasn't close enough she said she'd make a reservation to the place if the guy wanted although he doesn't like planning ahead which drives her crazy. Again, I've known by best friend for almost 11 years now and it took me awhile to get used to her way of living which was just "We'll figure it out when it happens". I could never get her to even give me a rough time and when I could she'd inevitably show up hours later if at all. Sometimes she'd just forget entirely if we made a plan more than 24 hours earlier. It used to drive me insane and it was upsetting at first but if you stick around you realize it's not a personal thing. It's why she only has a few good friends. As do I but for different reasons which is probably also why we get along so well. We've reached similar points in our lives through very different journeys and as such we kind of make up one really awesome person because we make up for each other's weaknesses and make each other better. It may sound strange but it's become the most rewarding relationship I currently have. Anyway, yeah. That's the end.

That means two of the Clandestine are alive in their Noor forms ready to influence (maybe beyond his control) Kamran. Final battle/resolution in Ep 6.

    Move the Cameron/Bruno stuff to before the Family hug scene.
    Add a scene after the family hug where they get a phone call or message from Yusuf who tells them that the circle Q exploded.
    Then end.
    I feel that would have given it a little more momentum and urgency leading into episode 6.

    I mean, Kamala and Kareem weren't in conflict that much, and it's good for her to have allies abroad. Some Avengers don't even have that. lol
    As for the final antagonists, I felt like that's obvious. Damage Control or at least its most zealously prejudicial agents coming after Kamala and Kamran. And we have to see how well Kamran takes the news of his mother's death because he's either going to be a defend mission or a sudden threat.

    Solid episode…just don’t know where they go from here. Rumor from what I hear is a reliable source says Kamran will be a villain in the last episode, but early promo clips show them fighting together so not sure about that. I’m guessing if anything he finds out his mother is dead and initially blames it on Kamala.
    The DODC has been so incompetent, but it appears they’ll be the final antagonists with I’m guessing some set up for The Marvels. Maybe a visit from Carol or Monica.

    The last episode was weird because it felt rushed and forced which continued this episode when we were back in present time. The whole flashback was amazing though, maybe they should have made it an entire episode. They could've given it even more space to breath and really shown us how life was during this time and ended the episode on Kamala waking up again and seeing the portal. I don't know, I just hope they can step into the style of the first 2 or 3 episodes, I'm not a big fan of Kamala's hero outfit that we have seen pictures of but I'm still looking forward to the reveal.

And to see Kamala and Bruno complete her uniform. Her origin is not yet complete. Oh, and maybe have Matt Murdock tell the DODC to lay off the Muslim community.
    Edited to add: And so she and Nakia can make up.
