The thought that people actually try to commission artists with nothing but text descriptions keeps me up at night 😭

I have to keep probing for more answers, and they just reply super vaguely or like “idk up to u” it frustrates me so bad 😭😭😭 especially if they’ve never drawn this character before, it’s just an idea in their head
At that point u should be paying for a character design and not a simple commission 💀💀
@@kas_ualties7692 No fr, I have an extra charge on my commissions if someone doesn’t have an image reference or at the VERY LEAST a collection of images, like for hair, outfit, etc.
Im not that experienced with commissions but I'm sure if they just did a doodle or a drawing of their character/oc (even if they're not the most talented artist) I'm sure it would be more of a help than a description
I think it's quite fitting that the polar bear girl ended up a bit scarier than you planned. Polar bears are quite cute, but are also one of the few creatures that will actively hunt humans, and are the largest and most dangerous bear, so I think the "foreboding but a little cute" vibe she has works.

i love the diversity lavendertowne does in her drawings, i don’t often see someone make characters that diverse, i like how she made the polar bear one dark skinned and then pulled up a real world fact where i think people would’ve gotten mad and been like “why’s she black!“ or “polar bears aren’t dark skinned!” (incorrect) she really impresses me with how she brings real world facts into her art, tldr she’s very good with representation of black, plus size, etc people

Okay but like, Lavender’s cherub straight up looks like a model, and then it was such a whiplash to go to the adorable actual character. I adore both takes and honestly it is a perfect representation of the spectrum of possibilities.

It can be sexy, as for the physical love and attaction, it can be pure-ish love feeling for another person, like on soulmate level, it can be both...
The OG character reminds me of a cute mouse!
For the valentines one they both look like idols. Lavendertowne's looks like a male idol while the original designers looks like a digital idol, or a kawaii aesthetic idol
Edit: apparently I was vague in my oberservation. When I mean male idol I mainly am referencing Kpop idols. Since I'm not a huge fan I don't know the types, styles or aesthetics. Mainly its just a hot dude with some very ornate themed clothes. The original design I would count more jpop with a flouncier skirt and more harajuku-ish style. Digital idol as in Vocaloid or even vtuber

I realize now you meant “idol” like an idolized figure often in pop music (aka k pop idols), but like, where did you get idols from for lavendertowne’s version? what is a “digital idol,” what tf do you mean by “kawaii aesthetic idol,” and what do you mean by “male idol” and how does the other idols you described afterwards directly differ from a male idol when they’re more of possible descriptions for one?

@@ivorysisco9467 A digital idol is probably something like a Vocaloid. A kawaii aesthetic idol should be pretty self-explanatory: an idol who presents themselves with a kawaii aesthetic. Pastel-colored outfits and a "cute" personality and way of presenting themselves to the public mean an idol has a kawaii aesthetic. I'm not sure why the original commenter used "male idol" as different from the others, but my perspective on that is that there are more female digital idols (Vocaloids) than male and the kawaii aesthetic is more popular among female idols rather than male (and the original OC, not Lavendertowne's version, appeared to be female, so this makes sense, and her outfit fits the style that's extremely popular among jpop female idols and Lavendertowne herself said that the design has a kawaii idol vibe), so they probably meant "male idol" as any male idol who is attractive or somehting, idk.
And for your first question, "where did you get idols from lavendertowne's version?," I think it's just because her character has the appearance type that is common among jpop and kpop idols.

Male Idol in this sense being in relation to male k and j pop idols, they tend to have a different vibe compared to their female counterparts (ofc not always) the handsome/pretty boy look with an outfit that's simple yet has little details like the chains and the love heart buttons. It's just a vibe not a set in stone "this looks like this"
As other commenters said digital idols would be vocaloids or vtubers, since they aren't real people wearing makeup and outfits they tend to have a more fantastical feel to them. Then the aesthetic is simple, they just feel like an idol that would be based around the aesthetic.
It is something that's hard to put into words as it's just about the "feel" of the designs and idols as a whole. Ofc the op could of been more precise since male Idol kind of covers alot of ground but at the same time it ain't too hard to know what they mean if you're familiar with the aesthetic they're trying to convey XD

Omg the for the delivery cupid one, both characters look like they would be working at the same place and be like those duos with contrasting personalities but still have a really cute friendship. All the OC designs were really good!

I love how inclusive you are in your art! You always change up the skin tone, body type ect and I find that very admirable. I myself (while I try to draw all kinds of people) tend to find myself drawn to white thin people and I need to break off from that habit.
You shouldn't force yourself to draw black people, however, and it's truly your choice. You can draw whatever you want, and if you want to draw fat black people or skinny white people then it's fine. Gl on your art journey, I hope it goes well

Ah, I love the Cupids so much side by side! I feel like they're rival love-letter postal workers, but they're going to fall in love because duh. They all came out so good though, and so are the original designs! So many talented people in this community ♥
i saw the title for this and laughed because i alt-text all of my art these days so you would've gotten a PARAGRAPH from me (which of course is not quite as fun, hehe). i loved seeing how much your interpretation changed based on how the submitter phrased their description, this was a super cool video idea!
i love the og the second one but her text description only communicates that she's a cupid-oid. her job being to deliver love letters doesn't really matter to her visual design. also i want to do unspeakable things to your version of the character 💖 (drops mic and walks out)

My favorite interpretation is definitely the cupid boy 💘 All the ocs have such different energies and very nice styles. My favorites are the cupid girl and the polar bear hybrid, cutesy colors and spooky vibes, all my favorite things

This might be a weird comment but, I kind of love that you went for darker skintones on your interpretations. Like, there's just something refreshing about noting that without any real guidance on skin tone specifications, that you naturally were able to use those colors in a way that complimented each design interpretation you went for. It just made me really happy to see is all. TwT
