It’s been two months since the top of my head was hit by a heavy metal ceiling trap door that unexpectedly opened and swung down on my head. I’m dealing with neck stiffness, dizziness, sensitivity to sound, developed a hoarse voice, low blood pressure and pulse. It’s gotten worse over time. I’m seeing a physical therapist and recently a chiropractor. I’m hoping to improve soon so I can get back to my active routines.
First off, thank you for giving me hope during my recovery. Im 32 days post accident, and i never thought about my neck possibly being the issue. Kind of a broad question, but how do you figure out which of these issues is causing the problem? I have a feeling its partially neck, but im not entirely sure. I know i have been having dizziness and tracking issues, so possible vestibular. I’ve also had low libido issues since the accident. I lost my father last year so i feel like it might definitely be a mental health issue as well, but i guess im just confused on which this could be. You made the analogy about the concussion maze, and you need to pick a door, and same with the concussion pyramid, which is helpful forsure.
Go to a good Chiro with experience in Concussion. Prepare to feel like total crap for 24 hours after. Then get ready to start feeling better. It's real.
Mri showed lesions in the white matter 14 year old has post concussion syndrome for 9 months. She also has eye tracking problems that are getting better with pt. What else can we do for her
Excellent explanation. Question: When riding a bicycle, a helmet can prevent skull fracture, but does not prevent concussions. According to your research, concussion/whiplash is more a neck injury. Prevention of bicycling head injuries/concussions could be as simple as a a helmet with protective neck collar (@~16:09)?? Thoughts?
This was me. Bad. After watching this, I finally went to my miracle worker, Chrio. Had to attend a company party that night. Felt like pile of hot-garbage. Thought I was going to need to go the hospital on the way home. Next Morning, I woke up better. Had dark black diarrhea a couple times (Month long toxins flowing into my system.) MUCH BETTER THOUGH. The day after that, today, It's almost like I never had the problem. Sort of. SO MUCH BETTER. Going again tomm. THERE IS HUGE MONEY IN KEEPING YOU SICK. Wake up and take control of your own damn life, people. THANK YOU FOR THIS EXCELLENT VIDEO.
Would you touch on "Marty Feldman" syndrome...I made that phrase up because my husband, 5 months after a dump truck wrecked our lives, believed his eyes were acting independently of each other. The panic and fear was indescribable.

Very informative. One of the most valuable pieces of information as I have had pcs for 13 years and continue to have terrible vertigo with nausea as well as visual and hearing issues. Being able to identify a local Clinic with specific concussion training that can address all testing and rehab concurrently is a godsend! Terri Scott
@@TheBushRanger. Hang in there - it will get better. First couple of months can be very rough, especially depression-wise, but it will improve. My first few months, I didn't feel like the same person at all, but over time it did get better. Hang in there - take one day at a time.
@@TheBushRanger. I saw a cranial bone movement doc who specializes in post concussion syndrome and who works with a NHL team when they get concussions. I am finally now healing after having PCS for over 3 months and it was the best money spent. People from all over go to see him. He was a god send for me. I am now going to be starting treatment for neck misalignment through a certified upper cervical specialist. The neck is giving some issues here and there. Best of luck to you all. It was a tough long and painful road for me and my loved ones who had to help me out a lot.
I wish to inform you that Massage Therapist do more than what you say on this video. Like any manual therapist, some of us or more experience and specialize than others...like Sports Massage Therapist and those with advance myofascial technics. 😉 Love your explanation and I have been sending your videos for some of my clients. What about "bounce" aversion? Its been one of my most consistent systems over the past year and 3 months. Initially it was so bad coughing, walking with thin soled shoes, and jump roping hurt the back of my head/upper neck (almost behind my throat but a little higher). I've gotten more used to it but i still feel that bounciness
In China my neurologist advised me on getting back to sports but also gave me anti-anxiety medicines. It helped a lot. I stopped the medicines after 3months, however the doctor wished me on continuing taking medication for 2 years. How do you think of it?
Thank you so much Dr Cam. These videos have been life-changing and very informational. There is truly nobody in the world that I have found that knows nearly as much as you. Ive experience multiple mTBIs and you have helped me narrow it down to my neck being 1 of 5 main cause. I was great until I started doing neck exercises. Since then I have been experiencing extreme ANS dysfunction since I did neck exercises. Peripheral neuropathy, temp comtrol issues, anxiety, fatigue, etc. You mentioned strengthening the neck, but I'm now terrified I did damage to my vagal nerve. What is your professional opinion on the iron neck device for neck strengthening? Very concerned this was the initial trigger and don't want to put more muscle tension on nerves, vertebrae. However you also advised exploring the culprit so to speak. Thank you in advance I would love to hear your thoughts.
Generally, it's not neck strengthening and exercises that are needed...it's moreso manual therapy to restore proper neck function. Then, once the neck is moving properly and more functional stability training can begin.
Based on the information you’ve provided here and some other sources, I’m afraid I’ve been chasing my tail for 20+ years after a side-impact car accident at at time in my life when I didn’t believe whiplash was a real thing. I’ve been visiting a chiropractor for all this time and more recently the relief I’m getting from an adjustment has gotten shorter and shorter. I’m in chronic mid- levels of pain (5ish/10). Is there a site I could search for a more appropriate care option? recommend
Hi there - often times when we are starting to see plateaus in treatment it could be an indication that something else is going on beneath the surface - autonomic issues, hormone issues, inflammation, etc. One thing that may help you to unlock this is the Concussion Fix program (Google concussion fix and see what you think!). Note - it is a paid program just so you're aware!
Hi love your videos and have listened to many of them over several months- giving me hope and information that has been sustaining for me - I was wondering if your program is covered by most insurance companies . I’m in Canada but I probably will not be able to travel anytime soon. Would love to have you as a “cheerleader “. At the very least do you recommend anyone in NB Thank you

I find this a little confusing. After a concussion I was prescribed eye exercises that slowly but surely worked. Never did anything for my neck. Would this doctor consider this a coincidence? Maybe I just got lucky.
@@CompleteConcussions Okay, that makes sense. I thought you were saying that there was always neck involvement and you couldn’t fix a visual issue without addressing the neck.
@@CompleteConcussions do you think my 6 month PCS (brain fog, fatigue, hazyness) could be coming from my neck even if theres physically nothing wrong with it in terms of pain and movement?
@@raiderscreed8999 Yes, it's possible for sure. There are a few things that can cause these symptoms so I wouldn't start with neck...but many patients with neck-related issues have no neck symptoms.
When doing neck exercises? How many times a day is okay for these kind of stretches? Once in the morning? Or maybe once in the morning once on lunch and one at dinner? Thank you!
