  • UPDATE: Help Others Struggling with Addiction in Loving Memory of Sabrina Tate • Help Others Struggling...
PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO AND READ THIS POST: ‘Shame on Seattle’: Parents of homeless woman who died in RV speak out www.seattletimes.com/seattle-...
Sabrina died in an RV. She was 27. This is the news story that talks about it. This has me messed up because I know she was trying really hard but without housing, it's nearly impossible to stay sober. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-...
Sabrina is 23 and living under a bridge in Seattle. Sabrina and an old boyfriend hitchhiked to Seattle to spend a few weeks. Those weeks have now turned into four years of homelessness.
Sabrina says she has been on her own since she was 16. She left her home town to explore the world, yet like so many other kids these days, she fell into the addiction of heroin.
If you've been following me for a bit, you've probably heard me talk about heroin being the perfect drug to forget the pain of homelessness. Cheap, easy to get, and the effects help you forget all the pain! Trouble is, heroin is extremely addictive, and in a very short time a person goes from getting high to needing a fix to 'maintain'. Without the fix a heroin addict gets violently sick. For reference, Cameron gave a very honest and candid interview about addictions that you can watch here bit.ly/HnVpjs .
There is a lot more research about homelessness and it's causes these days, and that's a good thing. For years, I have been asking people far smarter than I am to start researching how many homeless youth end up chronically homeless as adults. I would gather because of socioeconomic and physiological reasons a lot of homeless kids stay homeless, which to me, is a very serious crisis.
Last week I was in Portland and I met a few young kids all addicted to heroin. Many of them still had their youthful appearance, but you could tell the drugs and the street life where quickly taking a toll.
At 23 Sabrina still has a long and fruitful life in front of her, but being very real, our socially would rather lock up a drug addict them help them get back to a normal life. We really need to work on helping homeless youth get the support they need before they end up using hard drugs for any length of time. Sabrina's story breaks my heart, and knowing there are thousands upon thousands of other youth out there in the same situation wrecks me!

Hey, so this video is me almost 3 years ago. I'm doing a bit better now, Im still in Seattle, but have a part-time job at a pizzeria/bar downtown, I'm currently renting out an RV that I'm staying in but am looking for a place and should hopefully be getting into one hopefully in no longer than a month. As for addiction, I still struggle with it everyday, and I probably will for the rest of my life, but I'm in a much better place these days in all senses of the word, mentally, spiritually, and physically. im doing a lot better now then I was when this video was filmed, but I strive to do even better.

Some people just fall into it through peer pressure or just for recreation until it gets out of control. There are many functioning addicts, not all end up on the streets. Often it depends on family support or just wealth or even just having a good job that allows you to continue doing it. Every story is different.

People do make the decision. The most important decision is the first one you made to do drugs, because that's the one that got you hooked. Now the most important decision is the one that'll get you unhooked. Do you want and know how to do that?

Keep making these videos and spreading them far and wide so people can see the dark of this world with their own goddamn eyes. I've struggled with addiction myself. Spiritoflugh8 Better place is just a saying even non religious people use sometimes. I mean better of than this misery. Yes , poor thing nobody deserves to live like this. But, its also a easy way out to say I can not do any better I had a horrible childhood. Not all junkies are wonderful people. What about the one that killed his grandmother for 10 $? Or the one that send her dealer in her 10 year old daughters bedroom in exchange for the next hit of crack ? I worked with that 10 year old , she had a horrible childhood too! She became a college graduate and did everything different with her children. I had a horrible childhood too, my father was a fucking violent alcoholic , beat and chased us through the house day and night. Still, I don't say I had a horrible childhood so I am going to shoot up some people or some heroin. Life is not fair , never been , never will be. Nobody helped me or did anything for me. Society is not completely responsible for everybody. I am responsible for my life .It is never to late to have a happy childhood.
