She shares about how people are judgmental even about her wearing lipstick. Whenever I post a video with a woman that is trying to take care of herself by wearing makeup, lots of people freak out. They have a hard time understanding that homeless women still have the self-worth and decency to look presentable. Most people that are expericing homelessness do not look homeless. There is little to no education focused on teaching the general public the true realities of homelessness so people hold on to a lot of missconcetpions.
Invisible People The one main reason I would like to be interviewed is to let everyone know what happened to me when the courts try charging me for my friends death when I was in the hospital when he was alive and was still in the hospital when people found him dead and he never died from what I was being charged with so now I was scared and they was threatened me saying I would go to prison for life as I was looking at 2 life sentence and a 20 year felony now I have a felony on my record and can't find a place to live as everyone does a background check nowadays. And yet social security punishes disabled people on SSI and treats then like shit like there on welfare, if your disabled social security takes out 1 dollar for every 2 dollars you earn ,when they shouldn't , you should be able to make as much as u want , you can't have over 2,000 in savings, you can't get married Because then they count your partners income and the maximum federal benefit rate is only 750.00 a month smfh , when it should be at least 1800.00 a month, if social security adjusted SSI for the cost of home prices and rents , and not just food and basic transportation,then you have the developers not building enough affordable housing, so we're in a crisis with low supply to much demand smh , the government needs to do better and take care of our people, starting off with a jobs program to hire random workers to be trained to build affordable housing, and market rate housing , we can no longer depend on developers anymore to help out the poor, middle class and disabled !!! Poor lady =[ , this is not a way for this country to treat the disabled at all , it's very sad ,

I just watched your story... people are very ego based and ignorant and selfish and society today is all about survival of the fittest. People have no idea about certain difficult times unless they have experienced it themselves... Not many will lend a hand to help these days. Hello folks, Well Hallelujah, I made it to PA and now I have my N.Y. i.d. I will leave N.Y. early Monday, stop at PA. Check on apt and if not, head back to San Diego. And buy a van and be a hippie. Yep!!!! Love all of you, some nice man brought me a beautiful warm jacket, and I so needed it. Appreciating. I am so excited. I do hope the apt is ready. But I will do what I have to do. Either way I will be off of the sidewalk. Pray for me. And I cant thank everyone enough. You remind me that there are good people out there and it is easier to be nice than not nice. SO happy!!!!
There aren't many places to go for help in San Diego. We've been turned away from every place we went to for help. San Diego is unaffordable for the homeless and working poor which is why many are leaving. Unless you're an illegal, you don't stand a chance of making it here. I hope you get that apt in PA.

It is the perfect place to shut yourself in and write a book. focus, But I have to get a biopsy on my right boob. An injury that happens from someone else doing it. Injustice in the Superior Court System, not the Judge, but the Lawyer. It was dismissed without predjustice but I never signed off on anything.

Brenda , I'm so happy to see someone having faith in the Lord. I have an interesting story as well. I was homeless for a few months after my husband died in 2003 , but fortunately I had friends to stay with during that time. I had a home , but was slowly losing it , and everything else. I couldn't afford the propane for my heat , or any of my other utilities. I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis , and worked until I could no longer do so. It took me a couple years to get my disability. It's such a long story , but God pulled me through it. I kept trusting in him , and he sent a 76 year old Godly woman to become my mentor. She helped me in getting closer to the Lord. This woman ( Miss June) had several gifts of the Holy Spirit. I LITERALLY had God hug me using her arms , and speak to me using her voice. I had just cried out to him the night before and told him that I wished he could hug me. He did! He wanted to comfort me. He is amazing! I had a nervous breakdown back then. Anyway , I was patient , and trusted him. He helped me to keep my house , and I am about to sell that one , and buy a new one. (Big enough for my sister and mother , who have it hard.) I'm so happy that you are doing better. Keep trusting in the Lord. He can make the impossible happen. Don't listen to the devil. He is a liar! He wants to take our faith , and make us believe that God is not going to help us. God is ALWAYS with us. He said he would never leave us or forsake us . He don't lie! I love him more than anything. I too was in an accident on May 5, 2015 and I’m still waiting for any kind of compensation whether it’s in California or New York these attorneys are so shady when it comes to personal injuries, it’s disgusting and I still have lower back issues and a bad knee from the accident. Unfortunately this is all too common. Disabled folks are treated like subhumans by the system in the USA. People who cannot work, who qualify for disability benefits and badly need them, are denied many times. And even if you get them, they lock you in poverty because you can lose your benefits if you make just enough money to be above the poverty line, or have too much in savings. Something needs to change.

My thoughts are whit you Brenda. Here in Montreal(canada), they take care of disable peoples, homeless ect. I have done volunteering for the homeless in the past and most of people dont have a clue wy and how you can find yourself living in the streets. They judge so easily. Its a shame. You have no idea until you walk in someones shoes what homelessness is really all about. You struggle everyday and jump hurdles and then new ones and more. Bathrooms, hygiene, mental health, social existence, food, hunger, sleep depravation, patience, stability, confidence, comfort, joy, YOU HAVE NO IDEA. BUT I MIGHT WRITE THAT BOOK.

God bless you!!! I was homeless two years ago but thankfully I had a Jeep and slept in it for one year. The winter was hard because I couldn’t keep it running for heat , the price of gas was too high at the time. I often think about others in the streets and worry how they stay warm. It was the hardest time in my life. I lost everything because of a drunk driver , people made assumptions about me too and thought I was on drugs and this situation wasn’t my doing. I understand everything you talked about. I worked hard and started my own cleaning business and now I have a beautiful apartment today. This could happen to anyone. One thing could change your whole life. God bless you !!!!

I owned a tanning salon and had it all. 2 years ago I was sleeping in my truck trunk with my husband in MD with no heat. We now have a place in PA. And being homeless really made me a better person. There are many more places than this one place in PA. Pick a place you want to live, call up the numbers, get on multiple wait lists if you have too. You can get a month-to-month place immediately that you can afford while you wait for an even better subsidized place that then will let you keep even more of your $750. With these options, food stamps, etc., you can live comfortably.
I am so thankful after all I have been through that I do not have a drinking or drug problem. I like my liver and care about my health. I dont want drugs or alcohol. Praise God for that. The proof is in the blood work. Praise God

Hello, I am at the library before the cold spell keeps me in Penn Station tomorrow and wednesday. I called the Governors Office and they said code blue does not mean we cannot sit or rest. Also, if a police officer kicks me again, she said call 911 and report it. And i sure will. My nephews surgery is soon and I will be glad that is over. I will return to San Diego in April. have a cold, not enough rest. Police harrass me, There is a lady here that says she goes to hotel rooms with men to get rest. I am not. I am not interested in that. I wonder what is going on sometimes. Leave me alone. I am not interested in anyone. Period. I feel sad that society wants to use old women, seniors in this manner. Sick. Shame on them. I will get my rest somehow. I am going to go to the senior center this week and see how I like being around new friends. IM feeling down. I need a friend, a hand up. Later
Brenda, please contact HUD. There are cheap places you could afford on $750 a month, and there are even subsidized housing programs for disabled seniors. Given your SSI status and age, you qualify for many of them. You do not have to fixate on one place in PA or live in a van like “a hippie,” given your health issues and age. I’ve said this elsewhere, but in case you never saw it, I am saying it in a thread you made. Best of luck.

Travis Rabble ...My property taxes and insurance are such a small amount compared to paying rent or a mortgage...The average rent or mortgage where I live is $1800-$2200 monthly.....which is close to what I pay for the year.....And half the year I rent out half my house to a friend who is a seasonal worker.....and that pays for the taxes....got to keep it simple
The justice system didnt screw her over. She had bad luck but she should have looked into the lawyer she chose. Then the lawyer ended up being bad and she needed to file new paperwork for a new one but she chose not to because she had a lot going on. But at the end of the day she needed to set priorities and get the paper done to sue. Then she would have money.

At 9:26 I ask Brenda what she would want people to know about homelessness. She shares about how people are judgmental even about her wearing lipstick. Whenever I post a video with a woman that is trying to take care of herself by wearing makeup, lots of people freak out. They have a hard time understanding that homeless women still have the self-worth and decency to look presentable.
Most people that are expericing homelessness do not look homeless. There is little to no education focused on teaching the general public the true realities of homelessness so people hold on to a lot of missconcetpions.
That is not true. More and more women are homeless. BTW, we do not cherry pick stories.
Invisible People The one main reason I would like to be interviewed is to let everyone know what happened to me when the courts try charging me for my friends death when I was in the hospital when he was alive and was still in the hospital when people found him dead and he never died from what I was being charged with so now I was scared and they was threatened me saying I would go to prison for life as I was looking at 2 life sentence and a 20 year felony now I have a felony on my record and can't find a place to live as everyone does a background check nowadays. And yet social security punishes disabled people on SSI and treats then like shit like there on welfare, if your disabled social security takes out 1 dollar for every 2 dollars you earn ,when they shouldn't , you should be able to make as much as u want , you can't have over 2,000 in savings, you can't get married Because then they count your partners income and the maximum federal benefit rate is only 750.00 a month smfh , when it should be at least 1800.00 a month, if social security adjusted SSI for the cost of home prices and rents , and not just food and basic transportation,then you have the developers not building enough affordable housing, so we're in a crisis with low supply to much demand smh , the government needs to do better and take care of our people, starting off with a jobs program to hire random workers to be trained to build affordable housing, and market rate housing , we can no longer depend on developers anymore to help out the poor, middle class and disabled !!! Poor lady =[ , this is not a way for this country to treat the disabled at all , it's very sad ,

There aren't many places to go for help in San Diego. We've been turned away from every place we went to for help. San Diego is unaffordable for the homeless and working poor which is why many are leaving. Unless you're an illegal, you don't stand a chance of making it here. I hope you get that apt in PA.

It is the perfect place to shut yourself in and write a book. focus, But I have to get a biopsy on my right boob. An injury that happens from someone else doing it. Injustice in the Superior Court System, not the Judge, but the Lawyer. It was dismissed without predjustice but I never signed off on anything.

Brenda , I'm so happy to see someone having faith in the Lord. I have an interesting story as well. I was homeless for a few months after my husband died in 2003 , but fortunately I had friends to stay with during that time. I had a home , but was slowly losing it , and everything else. I couldn't afford the propane for my heat , or any of my other utilities. I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis , and worked until I could no longer do so. It took me a couple years to get my disability. It's such a long story , but God pulled me through it. I kept trusting in him , and he sent a 76 year old Godly woman to become my mentor. She helped me in getting closer to the Lord. This woman ( Miss June) had several gifts of the Holy Spirit. I LITERALLY had God hug me using her arms , and speak to me using her voice. I had just cried out to him the night before and told him that I wished he could hug me. He did! He wanted to comfort me. He is amazing! I had a nervous breakdown back then. Anyway , I was patient , and trusted him. He helped me to keep my house , and I am about to sell that one , and buy a new one. (Big enough for my sister and mother , who have it hard.) I'm so happy that you are doing better. Keep trusting in the Lord. He can make the impossible happen. Don't listen to the devil. He is a liar! He wants to take our faith , and make us believe that God is not going to help us. God is ALWAYS with us. He said he would never leave us or forsake us . He don't lie! I love him more than anything. Take care my friend , and dream big! , because we serve a big God! Love you! ❤

I too was in an accident on May 5, 2015 and I’m still waiting for any kind of compensation whether it’s in California or New York these attorneys are so shady when it comes to personal injuries, it’s disgusting and I still have lower back issues and a bad knee from the accident. Unfortunately this is all too common. Disabled folks are treated like subhumans by the system in the USA. People who cannot work, who qualify for disability benefits and badly need them, are denied many times. And even if you get them, they lock you in poverty because you can lose your benefits if you make just enough money to be above the poverty line, or have too much in savings. Something needs to change.

I have done volunteering for the homeless in the past and most of people dont have a clue wy and how you can find yourself living in the streets. They judge so easily. Its a shame. I am fortunate in the lord, fortunate to eat everyday, fortunate to pay for a shower and not use public sinks, like so many homeless have to daily. I am blessed to have a mind. I am blessed not to be a drug addict, after being in pain management for three years. Also, not being a drunk, not allowing men or others to try to control me, or use me any longer in my life. I just took a 5 day trip to PA and the manager said the person that is having their apt renovated is in the apt that I will get. As soon as she returns to hers, I can move in.

I am extremely blessed and got my life back. So happy and pray for all the other people less fortunate. I can't see my life any other way now. I never took anything for granted but I know some things are not always under your control. I made some delicious nut rolls. Meeting nice neighbors. Appreciate all things. Have a good one.

God bless you!!! I was homeless two years ago but thankfully I had a Jeep and slept in it for one year. The winter was hard because I couldn’t keep it running for heat , the price of gas was too high at the time. I often think about others in the streets and worry how they stay warm. It was the hardest time in my life. I lost everything because of a drunk driver , people made assumptions about me too and thought I was on drugs and this situation wasn’t my doing. I understand everything you talked about. I worked hard and started my own cleaning business and now I have a beautiful apartment today. This could happen to anyone. One thing could change your whole life. God bless you !!!!

I owned a tanning salon and had it all. 2 years ago I was sleeping in my truck trunk with my husband in MD with no heat. We now have a place in PA. And being homeless really made me a better person. Brenda again, contact HUD. There are many more places than this one place in PA. Pick a place you want to live, call up the numbers, get on multiple wait lists if you have too. You can get a month-to-month place immediately that you can afford while you wait for an even better subsidized place that then will let you keep even more of your $750. With these options, food stamps, etc., you can live comfortably.

Hello, I am at the library before the cold spell keeps me in Penn Station tomorrow and wednesday. I called the Governors Office and they said code blue does not mean we cannot sit or rest. Also, if a police officer kicks me again, she said call 911 and report it. And i sure will. My nephews surgery is soon and I will be glad that is over. I will return to San Diego in April. have a cold, not enough rest. Police harrass me, There is a lady here that says she goes to hotel rooms with men to get rest. I am not. I am not interested in that. I wonder what is going on sometimes. Leave me alone. I am not interested in anyone. Period. I feel sad that society wants to use old women, seniors in this manner. Sick. Shame on them. I will get my rest somehow. I am going to go to the senior center this week and see how I like being around new friends. IM feeling down. I need a friend, a hand up. Later

Brenda, please contact HUD. There are cheap places you could afford on $750 a month, and there are even subsidized housing programs for disabled seniors. Given your SSI status and age, you qualify for many of them. You do not have to fixate on one place in PA or live in a van like “a hippie,” given your health issues and age. I’ve said this elsewhere, but in case you never saw it, I am saying it in a thread you made. Best of luck.

Travis Rabble ...My property taxes and insurance are such a small amount compared to paying rent or a mortgage...The average rent or mortgage where I live is $1800-$2200 monthly.....which is close to what I pay for the year.....And half the year I rent out half my house to a friend who is a seasonal worker.....and that pays for the taxes....got to keep it simple
The justice system didnt screw her over. She had bad luck but she should have looked into the lawyer she chose. Then the lawyer ended up being bad and she needed to file new paperwork for a new one but she chose not to because she had a lot going on. But at the end of the day she needed to set priorities and get the paper done to sue. Then she would have money.
