    Cool to see Robert's airborne army. Makes me want to finish painting mine. Regarding the stubborn rule, US Paratroopers from the Normandy selector got FAQ'd to have the option of purchasing it. The later Vet paratroopers have it by default.

    Good game Travis. Having a good amount of scenery makes for a good infantry game.

    Your table is lovely. Just wanna point out that HE against buildings ignores the extra protection from being in a building. But still an awesome battle report. Keep em coming 😊

    That was a great fight. I haven’t watched BoltAction in a while, I must watch more. Those guys assaulting the Panzer had a really bad day!
    The board and terrain are excellent. You say the paths are just sand dropped carefully? That’s a great idea!

    Your tables always look just top dolla, well done. Saw your video wih Bo Mortensen, interesting,
    I straddle between competitive and scenario play. Last year my club was struggling, so I did a D-Day themed day of Bolt Action, key scenarios of Pegasus Bridge, US Airborne dropping in, the British Airborne taking on the Merville Battery etc etc. All scenarios that the new guys loved. We've now done a league of purely competitive play now and we have about 12 to 15 players, I think a healthy mix of narrative and competitive play is necessary to keep all happy.
    Great stuff, I watch your vids from time to time, nice to pass the time

    When he rolled for morale after a panzer 4 hit paratroopers , he rolled 8 , 3 pins , but paras are stubborn right? So they should ignore pins for morale. But he taked theme away from board

    • @tabletopcp
      @tabletopcp  Год назад +2

      We were confused. We thought they were not stubborn, then we thought they were then we found out they weren’t according to the east army entry.

  • @hazed1009

    I'm astounded the American paratroopers for the Normandy lists aren't "stubborn"?
    I get the authors maybe thought as Normandy was their first action and maybe the authors thought you sort of earn the stubborn rule from previous experience in battle?? The problem here is, the British paratroopers and poles etc were also made up of a large number of men for whom Normandy was their first action too. Also many of the German paratrooper units were actually wiped out almost to a man and were quite largely a completely reformed force. There were obviously some very battle hardened troops on both the British and German side but is it really fair to call the 101st Airborne and groups of men like easy company in Band of Brothers any LESS stubborn and determined not to be routed , no matter what the cost? After all stubborn is really simulating a band of men who , even when decimated ,refuse to give up or give in and continue to take orders. I think you would be justified in making it a house rule. That is unless the authors have already given the US paratroopers a seperate extra rule like an "up and at em" or whatever. I think they shouldn't really be any "better" than the German or British.
    As I am British myself and am immensely proud of the red devil's, our paras , I don't say this with any prejudice. I would , if i were the author of Bolt Action give the British red devils a certain fear factor though, against the German non SS units. There are plenty of first hand accounts of german soldiers being quite horrified to learn they were to fight against them (or the Commandos!) once their reputations were firmly established. A kind of extra pin here and there would suffice or perhaps at the beginning of a battle the need to roll a morale check to begin their first move, something along those lines. I mean if theres Tiger fear , of a tank, then what about a crazed , highly motivated lunatic with a stiletto knife and a machine gun running at you? 😂
    Id like to somehow model that in the game.
    Back to your US paratroopers I would even argue men like those could even put up a fair case for a certain amount of "fanaticism" in that they were so set on performing as well as any force that they pretty much took on some amazingly audacious actions. The US forces were definately prepared to accept higher losses than the British for instance. Isn't that a kind of Fanatic behaviour?
    What do you all think,?
    Anyway great video. And hey! Give your paratroopers "stubborn". I doubt there's anyone who would be that offended by a house rule for it. (Nland certainly not if they've ever watched the band of brothers series!🫡)

    Unfortunately, you forgot to roll for the turret jam, when the Panzer IV got hit with a 2 on the damage chart. Could have been a game changer, if the tank was totally blocked.

  • @jusztinnemeti6380
    @jusztinnemeti6380 Год назад

    38:50 with a 2" template you probably could have gotten more than four. Anyway, Robert seems very competitive only saying you could hit three. I think stubborn costs one point per model for the airborne and charging a tank with infantry only causes superficial damage. Have to double check.

      @darrenpenson2930 holy cow you have a HUGE library of bolt action games from these guys to catch up on!!😂
      I kinda wish I was new and could watch em again as new. There's some great games in there. The terrain and armies always looks so good it inspires you to finish not just your minis and vehicles but your scenery too! I always use these guys to motivate myself into finishing those mdf builds and paint them all up. Plus purchase another mouse mat table map/cloth to put them on. I have 1 for each season now, a great desert map and a rubble strewn city one (actually got a second winter table mat just recently, a stalingrad one because i wanted that city streets in snow look.) I really recommend you try out a good battle mat. It makes such a difference and although they seem a bit expensive you get a lot out of them theme wise. Check out some of travis's mats to see how great they can look. I had to get them once I saw these In the videos. (Incidently you can see how one mat can be used for multiple scenarios if you puck the right one.)
      Enjoy the videos mate and enjoy your hobby !
