From the Intelligence Officer section in the Battle of France book, my understanding is that you can pay the points cost for an intel officer and add him to the platoon officer as an additional extra man, on top of the two already allowed, and he doesn't get an order dice as he is just part of the officer team. The other option is an intelligence squad, which is a regular infantry squad but led by an intel officer, in which case they do get a dice. That's how I read it anyway - I don't know if different books have different descriptions though.
@@tabletopcp I use an Intelligence Officer with my British Late War Army Commandos. You can use a figurine to represent them and keep it with the Platoon Commander. That way, even after you have used their special ability, they remain as part of the command group and therefore can be used in any other actions they (the command group) are involved in (i.e., firing, assaulting, advancing etc.). The 'dice' is an invisible one in that you can specify when you roll to use their special ability. In that sense you pull a metaphysical dice at the start of the turn, kind of like drawing one from the bag, except you know it's going to be yours. I've found that they are best used when you really need to get the first shot at the start of a round, such as you have an enemy tank lined up and you want to increase the chance that you get to destroy it first before it can destroy you. The other time it works really well is when you are taking a Captain/Major, because you get to compound the initiative and give first orders to 1+3/1+4 sections/teams before your adversary can. That can compound further if you manage to take some of their dice, because the initiative probability swings your way.
@@stuarts9545 My Brother has taken an Intel Officer a couple of times now. He was part of a 4 man unit. Lieutenant; Intel and 2 x guys with ARs. When the Intel is used up, U have a nice little nasty assault team. :)
The Soft Underbelly book says the Intelligence Officer is just an upgrade: An Intelligence Officer is not a separate unit choice but an optional upgrade for an officer unit. Whereas the standard officer unit is allowed to be accompanied by up to two further men, the Intelligence Officer counts as a separate upgrade; in effect, a fourth man.
Yeah there's a good explanation in the Italy soft underbelly scenarios /campaign book. Maybe it's clearer than the French book , I don't have it to check, but they did a good job in the soft underbelly one (no extra dice just extra options plus extra squad member)
If you've gone for the Intel Officer, who is attached to your Captain unit then add that extra guy and have a mini assault team. U can't receive the small team bonus as now three, so you may as well add more men to take damage and dish out damage..... :) As always a really decent game. Thx Guys.
Happy 4th of july fellas! At 28:30, there shouldve been 2 hits. Its half of the hit units rounded up. Otherwise a 1 man team would become invincible ;)
You need to look in the D Day supplement for the US Sector. May only be taken when added to an officer unit (may not be taken as an individual unit) plus (May not take Intelligence Squad) (must attach to officer unit with same quality) Intelligence Officer (equipped as modeled) and Once per game, at the beginning of any turn before the first die is drawn from the dice bag. Roll a D6 and apply modifiers: Inexperienced -1, Veteran +1. On a 4+, the player activating the Intelligence Officer may choose a die from the bag for the first activation. If both players attempt to activate this ability simultaneously, each must roll 1D6. The higher score wins and immediately uses this ability, but the losing player may attempt to use his ability on another turn instead. Hope this helps Travis.
I got all that. It never mentions how you would use his dice if he is attached to an officer unit. Leading an intel squad makes sense but being attached does not.
@@tabletopcp Have access to the campaign book. Warlord site says all the extra rules are in this supplement, unfortunately I do not have this supplement. I think the answer is in the supplement. I have asked Warlord the question.
Travis sorry meant to include this with other post. How about you guys play that very cool napoleonic era horror game "The Silver Bayonet"? Very cool game. And you could adapt it to the civil war! 😁, werewolves , zombies and greycoats anyone? 😂
Yeah we played a few games when it first came out. The problem was it used first edition Bolt Action rules and came out at the same time second edition came out so it was a pain to try and keep two editions in my head
Travis i wanted to ask you if youve ever considered some of the more stroy driven type games as a alrernative or addition to what you do? I started getting into playing dead mans hand recently and then strangely i went and played a game of call of cthulhu but we played it on a full table setup like a skirmish game almost! Killing occultists and monsters lol. But heres the rub, theres a wild west call of cthulhu book to set it in western era. So that means we already have a whole table of western cowboy themed scenery to play it on! How about it? A spooky mystery/horror version of deadmans hand/what a cowboy with cthulhu horro all mashed in? Could be fun to watch
I wouldn’t mind to try something like that. We have tried pulp alley and 7tv. Both are fun narrative games. I want to do something with zombies. Like Walking Dead.
@travh20 well I'd like to watch a few games like that. The game "the silver bayonet" is REALLY appealing and ive NEVER played napoleonic games!! It just looks so cool with the figures they make!! And musket guns vs monsters just has to be done!!! Lol 😆
@travh20 just in case you haven't had a chance to see how gorgeous the "down darker trails" western call of cthulhu book is have a look here: ruclips.net/video/RO6tN0Jk6xc/видео.html If you just skim through you'll see the amazing artwork , real old photos etc. I'd imagine it's right up your alley! as they say! 😂 I just got my copy and it's actually a great read, making characters for the game is half the fun! Perfect for you and your patrons to get involved with. (Simplified to npc's of course)
The table is stunning

Makes sense. Pretty pricey though if he doesn’t get a dice at least.

I agree with the guy who consulted the D Day supplement for the US Sector about the Intel guy. Great game! Very entertained.
Another great one👍 The pincer deployment makes for an interesting game. I liked when the armoured car came round the corner and opened up😄
Great looking battle as always! … Fun looking scenario Thx
Guys , ty for another great video and all the time and effort you put in. Loved it as always looking forward to the next already..
Bloody great battle, just maybe some dice rolling cages instead of knocking things over every time they rolled
great battle report ,cant wait for the next BA one ...(LordStrath)

Great video🎉 quick question, what are those base ring markers y’all are using for the officer/NCOs??
Got ‘em off eBay years ago. Haven’t seen them for a while. Try the 3d print market. People are making things like them now
Where do you get the new scenarios from, Pincer Movement, is there a link? I didnt find it on their website.
It’s not quite out yet. I just got a rough draft of it. If you contact Brad at Cast Dice he would probably send it to you.
Love your hedgerows any chance of a tutorial on how you made them 👌🏽
I don’t think I will be making any more, but they are scrubber pads glued to a base then I glued various colors of lichen to them.

What colors did you paint the German tanks with?
Dunkelgelb is the base color. It’s a dark yellow. Camo colors are flat brown and green
It rounds up when they’re down hit my HE. So 3 to 1.5 to 2. Not one. Half a guy is still a guy haha
With big enough shells there would be plenty half of guys
@@tabletopcp you have a very good point there lol
so a german named "causky" will be rare, name him some german Name like 'Kruse'
