    lovely Battle Report as always and wonderful table a great insight into Bolt Action, but on a small historical note Les Duanes was just the farm settlement opposite The Chateau Fontaine Entoupefour which were the 5th Dorsets objectives to provide a base for 4th Dorsets to attack the village of Maltot and 7th Hampshire the village of Eterville.

    • @rickfryer2934
      @rickfryer2934 17 дней назад +2

      Thank you for your kind comments, you are of course correct that Les Duanes was a small farm settlement. I rather expanded it for our game as I wanted more houses on our table to make it more 'cinematic', I hope you can forgive me. if you have any more historical information on the fighting around this time then I would be most interested to hear it as I like to give our games a thematic element, especially the fighting of the Britsh and Canadians.

    Lovely game and great terrain. But do stop going down the 'game the rules' options. Mortars have spotters and make them regular. Officers regular too and have them up there making snap to s. They can help concentrate firepower and win games. 1000 points, then 12 order dice, maybe 13 or 14 but that's it. You guys are playing for fun and enjoyment - not weird competitions. Very decent battle report. 😀

    • @rickfryer2934
      @rickfryer2934 18 дней назад +2

      I play for fun, but losing a lot of games was not fun. It gets very disheartening, so I am sorry I now play to maximize my chance to win with the rules. Taking the Hummel, with the present rules, was a big disadvantage to me, I tried to compensate by having more order dice, but Justin instead of his usual 9 cleverly went for 16. This game is brilliant because of the sequence of activation being somewhat random, which is why high order dice number matters. Justin is also a very good player and if I thought he wasn't trying, and let me win I would be even more upset. This game was really great fun and it was close to the end and although I lost I was much happier then with my early games where I got crushed.

    • @theministryofminiatures

      Thanks, I think it’s good to try different things out, I usually have regular mortars and spotters, but for this I needed to keep points down… and inexperienced allowed me to take two!
      The officers are the same… I am trying not to stick to the basic regular force especially against Rick who likes to max the dice and number of figures, this makes the points very important.

      You could always try making a few platoon limitations to force the players to play “realistically” but also ensure that the game is fair.
      For example, limit each side to single platoon, 1000 points and 12 order dice.
      Additional things to try would be: “each side must take a tank of at least armor 9 (medium tank)”
      You could also play dual platoons I call “infantry-tank teams” where each side brings a generic reinforced platoon with no vehicles allowed AND one tank platoon with only fully tracked vehicles allowed (so no spamming multiple rocket launchers. It’s basically tank wars but without having to have a bunch of transports and should make it more like a platoon of tanks attached to an infantry platoon in the attack.
