    Being able to paint them assembled on the base is a big bonus for those who want to play while painting, even with the cons

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  3 месяца назад

      Yes absolutely, and it is possible for sure, just makes it harder if you want to do the faces on all the ranks.

    • @nzdarkelf2451
      @nzdarkelf2451 3 месяца назад +3

      I presume they would click and stay together with out glue. Then you could play, and split them when you get around to painting. Maybe a bit of blu-tack, or something similar, would help them stay together unglued if needed.

    • @MiniatureRealms

      @nzdarkelf2451 when I did a dry fit they did that pretty well actually.

      I suppose you could do the middle strip and the front of the back strip them glue them all together and use them whilst finishing the front and back strips?
      Best of both worlds maybe, with an intervening period of weird looking-ness.

      bit late to the party, but you could glue the minis together with wood glue, it will hold well enough for gaming and whenever you want to paint a unit you can dissasemble it

    Well done Stuart. Once I finish my Naps I plan on getting this line. My strategy -
    Zenithal the front and back of the first row
    Middle row almost entirely black with a very light dry brush
    Zenithal the back of the back row (leaving their faces black with just a very light drybrush).
    Then paint from there. Using imagination to fill in the dark highlights.
    There's just far too many to get on the table and I'm perfectly fine cutting out a little of that middle work.
    You do a great job, though.

    • @MiniatureRealms

    Great stuff Stu. Definitely I would be inclined to put them into ranks after painting. I’ve painted up a bunch of Bretonnians recently I put together first and it has its pros sure but it is hard to beat easy access even if there is an occasional risk of painting some details that will end up hidden. Luckily that particular problem doesn’t seem to be a thing with these guys as only visible areas have been given details anyway

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  3 месяца назад +1

    Lovely job. I will go impressionist for the bulk of mine. (Even that will be loads of work, once I work it out from 3 to 4 feet away) But for the inevitable photos we like to take of games nowadays, this is the recipe I'd use for an exhibition set beside the commander. Good tip not glueing. Would you spray sprue direct, and paint on those? I'm looking forward to this but also have the fear due to amount of models to paint

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  3 месяца назад

      It’s certainly a lot of minis, and painting them with highlights has definitely contributed to me not finishing my previous Epic projects (they’re still being worked on, just slowly), so your approach is a sensible one.

      @@MiniatureRealms a pal of mine is going to share some old article from yonks ago about how to paint good "from a distance". I've tried to find something but I always get pulled into something else. On your comment about being tempted to spray silver, that other folk do (me!) I did that with spqr Romans and tbh it was much more work IMHO. You need more coats to cover up the silver, to do skin and cloth, that it's counterproductive. Just do what you did.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  3 месяца назад

      @lesliestevenson5261 That’s very good advice thank you. Where I can I like the idea of spraying/airbrushing the dominant colour, but like you’ve said, it often has its own issues.

      So Hail Caesar is part of a family of games all based around Warmaster, with Black Powder and Hail Caesar written by Rick Priestly. They’re not overly complex, but good sandbox games, perfect for playing really big games for fun rather than a more competitive mindset.

  • @rangda_prime
    @rangda_prime 2 месяца назад

    It's really interesting to see how people used to painting 28mm scale minis have problems letting go of their techniques with all these new smaller scale ranges coming out. You do so much on these which wont be visible. And your brush is way too small. This isn't very fast for a couple of strips.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  2 месяца назад

      But it’s the way I choose to paint, it’s a conscious decision. That doesn’t mean to say you or anyone else must do it that way. It’s also not designed to be a fast option, or even the fastest option.
      The brush I used is mostly a size 2, not really that small at all, just a good point.
