Around 30 minutes, Chip and Azul talked about juniors/seniors starting to dominate. If you guys want more proof of it, over here in Singapore, one of our top junior players has just won 3 straight Regionals, and there's only 3 Regionals for us to play. Kid keeps impressing me every time I watch him play.
Chat-wise, no. In everything else, I'd agree. I really like I can rewind on YT and then jump back to the live broadcast. It is one of the features I have always wanted Twitch to have but doesn't. Also, my TV can play YT but not Twitch; I'd have to connect my laptop to the HDMI to stream Twitch through the TV, so it's not ideal. Overall, YT offers a way better product and experience imo.
On bubble rulings I'd say the solution would be something like Weiss Schwarz which does set diversity. So you'd do archetype diversity. You're both at bubble with same Resistance and opponent's opponent's win% but one of you is the 20th Zard player at top cut and the other is the lone Meowscarada player carrying that torch? Reward the person who's pushing outside the current meta. If people need to consider it for their top cuts it might cause more people to have to actually think about taking decks and how it would effect bubble odds which could push more players to play more deck types and cause the meta to evolve faster. In this scenario Gustavo would still bubble out against Samir because there are way more Pidgey Zards in top cut than there are Arceus Armarouge but at least players would be prepared for that going in when making their deck choices. this legitimately might have been why Samir placed 32nd while Gustavo didn't but if you codify it as a rule then you at least don't have to guess. And then well, I guess if your archetypes both have the same # of top decks you can just fight to the death for the spot. (Pack Battle)
A decklist error which isn't just an alt art mismatch should be instant DQ. If can't be proven that the player hasn't been siding cards in and out during the tournament to improve match up odds. You have to set the punishment harshly as to deter people from cheating. Yes people who have made honest mistakes will get it rough but we want to maintain competitive integrity.
Tusk Mill could benefit from that new Ace Spec. Discard three (maybe two energy) to find Artazon, Rod, Ancient Booster, and Sada. Yes it’s not good that it is a one of. In a clutch situation where your deck needs to get rolling I like the idea behind it.
I remember reading Tom Dolezal's 3rd place World Championship report from 2011 and he mentions getting 3rd based on having won more games than the other player who lost in top 4. There he advocates for bringing back the 3rd place playoff.
Azul, do you have a heat pump or AC? Sometimes when running those, it may cause negative pressure in the house causing air to seep back in from the sewer, especially if the P-trap dries up. Good luck.
I always remembered Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff always puffing up when angry lol, +3 flavour text (wanted the stage so I knew which to guess), I have 73 points now
It would have been nice if they put out information on what the requirement was to get the "play point" reserved slot. I say this because my daughter (junior) plays vgc and got the reserved slot. However, my son (junior), plays tcg, has way more play points than my daughter, but didn't get a reserved slot. So it makes me think that it's not a play point threshold, but like your play point standing compared to others in your division/game, like a top 20 or 30 for play points per division/game..
@chasemantkd it could be if its by quarter. Because I have a friend who's kid got it for seniors tcg and he is in only top 30 for the season. However, I haven't found a way to look at your quarterly play points standing, right now you can only view your yearly standing. So there's no way for me to rule it out or not.
Greninja Tera EX seems like another Garchomp Tera EX. Really cool, strong cards just compared to meta decks they are missing something to keep up. Manaphy really walls them, maybe after it rotates?
Dipplin also farms LZ decks early game via taking two prizes on their basics while also having the ability of koing any V, ex or vstar they play later. Also, the unfair stamp is the best ace spec for the deck
I know Azul is wanting to showcase the best of the best but I think a really good content idea that may fit the other channel better is 3v3 of people that have little to no experience with the game. Teach them the basics of the game and let them duke it out with premade decks and make it best of 3. Huge content creators like Leonhart are getting into competitive and if you scored him as a guest it would be a huge reach to the channel. Just an idea. Sometimes I do like the game for fun and not just balls to the wall competition all the time
I will say, regarding juniors and seniors players that are consistently doing well, it makes me nervous as someone who only started playing within the last two years and I’m in my early 30s. Kinda scares me to even keep going knowing the upcoming competition basically wipes the floor with me having been playing since much younger and I’m old lol
You overcame your nerves competing against people that have already been playing the game since before those kids were alive, you can handle a handful of new prodigies

About the Charizard board state, the Lugia has to take into account the TM devolution to the Archeops play! And you guys won't gaslight me that a Pidgeot EX deck with a 330hp behemoth that does more damage in the endgame is hard to play lmao
Let me make this comment about the deck list controversy. A judge should go through the deck list, and the deck itself, before the player sits down for round one of the tournament. If there is a mistake, the player needs to make the decision to change the deck before the matches began. If a deck was altered during the tournament, then the player is “cheating”, should get game loses, possible DQ, and go back to the deck list submitted.
Most locals do this. The problem is at the regional level where you have 3k+ deck lists to go through, you cannot simply do that before the tournament there isn't enough staff. I heard that Orlando had the largest staff ever (which lead to some issues regarding compensation) at 250+ staff members. With half of them TCG judges and at least a quarter being support staff (paper team, TOM operator, stream team, security, etc.). Hence why these tournaments do the default rule of it is the player's responsibility to make their deck list match their deck the day off.
I think other high level organizers have spoken on this and switching to best of 1 due to increased admin/judge/match slip scanning times would only add like 2-3 more rounds in day max
Keep that best of one ish to locals and overseas 🤷♂️. would rather have best of 3 to see the variance play out in 2 or 3 hands instead of 1 try who gets the nuts quicker.
May be unpopular opinions: 1. Create qualification tournaments and champion point requirements for the regional and international tournaments (like state or city championships). Also no need to allow non-citizens to compete in international championships they aren't a part of. These changes lower the numbers, so it isn't crazy 2000+ player tournaments with so many rounds lasting forever. 2. Why DQ a player for their deck list being off, if the decklist isn't public knowledge and doesn't affect the outcome of the game it shouldn't matter. So, if it was the first round of the day, the competitor shouldn't be penalized for their deck being off their deck list submitted. If the competitor obviously is changing cards between rounds or playing with illegal non-format cards, they should be disqualified. 3. Azul play the pokemon games you haven't played, so you learn the pokemon you don't know, plus you can stream it 😂
#2 is simple, play the 60 you registered or you broke the competitive agreement we have. I would avoid excusing cheating but I totally understand the conversation is revolving around going easy on cheaters, which is pretty weird. It's literally making a list and checking it, so easy if the player actually cares.
@brandonweaver5910 I understand that, I hate cheating too, but even the best players in the world make mistakes sometimes (tord reklev), and in the example I gave the player who made the mistake/ "cheater" has no advantage since the deck lists aren't public knowledge. Just changing cards out of their decks between rounds would be cheating and deserves a DQ
