Bro thank you so much! You’re an absolute life saver! Took mine apart, not expecting it to be spring loaded, and it just shot apart on me. Thought it was game over until I found your video!

Compressor stopped shutting off when it hit pressure, so I took it apart. And of course, the spring-loaded parts went everywhere...
Couldn't figure out what went where until I found this video. Thanks for making it

If you are going to tear it clear down why dont you clean it up? Or hey put that rusty gunky shit back together just like that then do it again in a month! To each his own but to me you just practicing tearing it down and putting it back together when another hour to clean it up and put it back together once!

@@StonemanRocks He bought a new one. This is just to show people how to take it apart and reassemble it.

Replacing it is the way to go. Its kind of a pain to put it back together if you tear it all the way down. It can be done and zip ties (I used 2) help immensely to hold the pieces with the spring until you install the 4 main mounting screws! Wait until you screw those 4 screws almost all the way in then cut the zip ties or it will slip apart if you aren't carefull!

@@TheShawVMedia right on and sorry to criticize your methods. I have done stuff like that when in a hurry. I only learn by banging my head on the wall a lot of times. A lot of it is fear of the unknown too. If you have basic handy skills just go for it I say. Clean shit up good keep it safe and don't lose it and label wiring or take good pics for reference. Happy repairing! It saves a ton of money too!

Dang this video was helpful. It took me a bunch of trying until I gave up on putting it together with the little spring on. I assembled it with the spring loose and then used a hook to pull it forward and seat it! Worked on the first try. What a pain in the butt! Lol

I did the same, wrapped a wire around it to keep some tension on it until I was ready.

thanks brother. my compressor wouldn't start after I foolishly unplugged and replugged the power without turning off the switch and so I decided to have a look inside this "box" and of course, things went flying everywhere and I had no idea how to put it back together. I eventually learned what this box is called, and now with your video I reassembled this pressure switch. it looked quite frustrating, but I rook my time and all went well. I did use some zip ties to hold the parts together because I knew it would go flying apart for me if I didn't. anyway, during this project I discovered the reset button as well, which probably would've fixed my initial problem. I've also changed the oil and evacuated the little bit of water that was inside my compressor. I also reset the cut-in and cut-out pressures, and now the whole thing is working better that it did before. I'm so happy. I inherited this compressor from my late father and it comes in so handy. I would've hated to have had to buy a new one. So thanks again for your time. Also, sounded like James was working on his own project in the background. :)

A real demonstration of patience and finesse! I thought for years my switch was leaking, so last winter I dove in. (it was the check valve, could've saved time, money and frustration just removing it and cleaning the gunk out of it.) I didn't have my mini-me wanting to help when I disassembled and reassembled it last winter, but I still screwed it up. I ordered a new one online. I still have that old switch, and after watching your video, am looking forward to putting it back together again, correctly this time. Thanks for showing us how.

Be extra careful with really older air compressor, there is a sliding contact plate that basically reciprocate with the conductor..this thin forked plastic becomes brittle especially in very old school compressor types and this piece may even shatter just disassembling it just like you are doing here...
Mine was in pieces when I went to inspect inside..my type of air compressor will need to be Cross part fitted .
    Good video.thanks for sharing.
