Yes! I was talking about it in another video. OG Heathers are alluring without looking cheap and the choreographer’s and costume designers in Riverdale make them look like a truck stop hooker version of the musical.
When it comes to the Heathers, less is more! They can still be sexy without being over the top.
Also the boys. 1 male is required to be shirtless atleast once an episode.

Why is the choreography for Candy Store so sexualized? It's like they watched a bootleg and thought "Okay okay okay. They're in free skirts swinging their hips. We need to do that." And they just had them smack their thighs, swing their legs way too high (gotta get that triple pantie shot) and wiggle in these weird poses that I think are supposed to be sexy???
Allison Lo have you seen the original choreo for candy store? It’s a very sexualised song, the choreo has always included those moves. I’m not saying it’s right for supposed ‘teenagers’ to do that but it is what was done in the off-broadway production and on the west end

The lyrics change is because they're using the official high school version, with a few tweaks here and there.

As an avid Heathers fan, this actually made me physically sick.
They ruined the verses of Candy store and the singing is so bad it's like dragging a barrel of cats up the highway.
Candy Store is meant to be edgy and in your face with the language. It's my favorite song and the perfect introduction to how the Heathers can be. Taking away the things that made the song so great only makes once a fun song into something lackluster.

I had to listen to the original soundtrack like a thousand times to get this bad version out of my head. Heathers is my fave and they murdered it.
And every harmony... Ugh they just toned it down so much and it was all low notes because even with autotune the actors couldn't even try to hit them

heathers is a great movie. basically winona ryder hangs out with 3 girls named heather and hates them and meets christian slater and he's insane and gets her to murder them then he tries to suicide bomb the school and she stops him. it's on netflix i think you should definitely watch it you'd like it.

This episode was so confusing, I mean I don’t watch the show but I really like Heathers the musical and the episode was strange. The person doing the sounds like the foley also has been doing WAY too much, like during candy store what was with the clapping sound, the hair swooshes, and the weird stomping things. Yeah I was just lost

I feel like the whole dark, cynical mood in the high school context is something that Heathers achieves so well, but that Riverdale fails completely at. Where Heathers is a comedy that can so gracefully laugh at its own absurdity, Riverdale takes itself seriously to the point of fault. That's where the magic of Heathers was lost in this episode.

If it’s supposed to be a school musical, then why did Cheryl say “Shut up, Toni!” when it’s supposed to be “Shut up, Heather!”?
Riverdale is trying to intertwine the songs of Heathers into the events ongoing in the series.
The thing is, when Riverdale has a "special" musical episode, they use quotes from the musicals and force songs into scenarios so it seems like they are living in a musical. Sometimes they act like the person the cast are playing as. For example, Cheryl as Heather Chandler (hence the "Shut up, Toni" line).
The series is kind of giving off the vibe that you're kind of watching Heathers itself, but set place in Riverdale. However, the outcome seems like a stupid parody insteax.
They replaced “take off our clothes and dance” with “take off our shoes and dance” but then proceeded to partially undress on stage wtf
I honestly never thought of the idea that the actors were forced to sing like but I find the idea so funny
Maybe the guy that did the overly used whip effects in Johnny Test was hired on Riverdale.

I don’t even watch this show but like it was pretty decent. Like the actors were really trying and the camera angles were pretty good, it just worked more for me.
I feel like Seventeen was a lot better singing-wise, but I thought the choreography and shot composition was underwhelming. The part where Jughead was just staring into the camera had me rolling.
As a longtime fan of Heathers and Heathers the Musical, I'm completely offended by this. I need to listen to the original cast recording to cleanse my brain now

I’m so glad Glee ended before they decided to do anything with Heathers. I don’t want Rachel Berry or Finn Hudson anywhere NEAR my baby Heathers. It’s the Unholy Trinity as the Heathers and Marley as Veronica, JD is definitely gonna be Ryder (the reason should be obvious by now), Tina or Unique for Martha, and Jake and Sam are Kurt and Ram. The teacher/Veronica’s mom can be played by either Tina or Unique (whichever one isn’t Martha). Kitty can be in the chorus bc that’s where that little demon child belongs, as well as Sugar.

I haven't hatched Riverdale for a long time but I've seen a few compilations of this episode and I couldn't understand if the wipping sound when they flipped their hair was edited in by the person who made the video or if it was in the original episode.
The first few seconds of “Candy Store” began and all I could think was “where are the harmonies?” (Heathers, both the film and the musical, is iconic in itself- it’s definitely worth a watch)
I have confession: I love watching Riverdale, and I don't want writers to stop smoking crack. I want more crazy plots and dialogue. (Also the show is shot so beautifully it makes me angry)
Also anybody saying season 1 is better then 2 or 3 is smoking the same thing as the writers.
SAME I love how crazy it is it's not trying to be hyper realistic because that's NOT what it is, it's a teen soap opera for crying out loud. I want it to get crazier and crazier honestly.

I have never seen nor heard of Heathers - and yes feel free to call me an uncultured swine because of it - but even though I had no idea what it was, after finally getting through the entire episode I knew enough to understand that it probably wasn't accurate.

Every lyric change was a detriment to my soul. In candy store they're supposed to be talking about cocaine, in dead girl walking there is ACTUAL SEX LMAO, big fun is supposed to have them rolling a blunt. I don't know what was worse, that, the dancing, the auto tune, the random whipping sounds, or the fact that they didn't do the plot AT ALL and no one even had a fixed character!!

I think the reason why riverdale does a lot of musical episodes is because writers from riverdale were also writers of glee, so they kind of just make it “glee like” by adding musical episodes.
