big hoses / little hoses - how technical !, how about state the specs ie 1.5" & 2" hoses perhaps, dropping plastic nozzles on concrete isn't a great idea either.

This is useless. Show us how you put the intake hose into the dam?

Then you'd need to know how to prime the pump.

Hose diameter size, hose length run & nozzle selection, wind speed are factors that affect range. You are going to have more than enough distance to squirt water at flames & wet down structures with that setup. Firefighting & property protection is not a precise science & always pre prepare & have a bushfire plan becuase when a bushfire happens you won't remember most of that plan, you'll handle it as it comes & it can come fast and hard with no mercy.

You can ru 2 1.5" lines at a decent flow, id not flow 4 1" hoses though with that pump, 3 max.

Genuine Honda powerhead & Davey pump can't be beaten for fire fighting or moving water around, twin impellor are even better for fire fighting making more pressure. Make it a habit & Always return the stop switch to the ON position immediatley after shutdown. If it won't start most likely it is switched off & you may have flooded it trying to start it that way.
