To answer some questions… The reason I use a suction hose in the top of the tank instead of connecting the pump to the bottom valve is so that if needed, I can pull up to a water source and throw the suction hose right into it to refill the tank. The hose has a check valve on the end so that once it’s primed, it stays primed until I disconnect it from the pump and drain the water out of it for winter. We have lots of cattle watering stations around here, and many people have cisterns on their properties. And second, I didn’t “call out Paul”, I simply said that I don’t need the help of someone a thousand miles away every time I need to weld something when I myself an a welder. I get a pile of those comments literally every single time I weld or build anything. Like I said, don’t know the guy and have nothing against the guy, but if I do need help with something, there’s plenty of people a hell of a lot closer who I actually do know that I’m going to see long before I try to get help from someone in a completely different state. But yes, I absolutely did make a little joke about Heavy D’s videos basically being one big commercial. And I did that because Heavy D’s videos are basically just one big commercial
Paul's channel is a lot of fun to watch just like yours is but for different reasons. And as for heavy D's I can't disagree. He's not bashful about it at all.
I live in rural Tennessee (Yes, it can be hot and humid here) and am surrounded by hundreds of acres of deciduous hardwoods and we too have a fire season. I have been looking into some sort of fire protection system but that dinky tank just wouldn't cut it here. When I lived in SW Montana I knew a guy who had a buried, well fed, 700 gallon plastic septic tank he used for home defense. I'm looking at that option with a more reliable dual gas/electric pump.
That fire trailer is a good simple apparatus that may save your property. Yes on the sponsorship video. Thanks for making down to earth real world videos.
Casey, your honesty and ethics are why I love your channel. You are one of the few that I trust on here and would love to know more about how the sponsorship thing works in the background.
I agree. I would like to know the inner workings also. Just don't ask me why I feel the need to know, couldn't tell ya. I already know that corporations will do about any anything to cram their stuff down our throats.
@@bruceb4349 that's basically it they offer more money a year than most people make at an honest job just for RUclipsrs to pimp their products as much as they can there's teenagers playing video games on RUclips talking about testosterone replacement crap and stuff you know they don't use (unless a guy with tits and a vagina are using it to grow their beards) and making over 100k a year those are our future government already backed by big pharma
You can't keep letting those comments get to ya bro. You know that you know what you're doing and that's always been enough so just keep doing what you do and if a couple of bone heads think you need to call heavy D. then they, clearly don't understand the difference between the type of recoverys he does and what you do. Two totally different companies. He does things the way he does cause he owns extremely large and rich companies. I.e. deisel power gear 4wd parts.
I've said before that I had to unsubscribe from HeavyD because it was obvious to me that he had no idea what he was doing, he was very unsafe, and broke stuff doing it the hardest way possible. Enthusiasm and a big budget can't make up for knowledge and experience.
That's one thing I love about your channel ,it's all content no bs commercials telling us to try products that you can't stand behind just to make a buck. We all appreciate your honesty ,truly its a rare quality these days.
I love your honesty about products and yes I would love to hear and watch a video on you tube sponsors. You are one person that I love to watch. Thank you for all you do, love to you and the family
Thanks Casey! Because of you, Fabrats, and Matt’s, I just bought my Apex winch to mount on my car hauler flatbed and bought a front receiver mount for my Ram. Will also build a 3-point for my little tractor, never know when I might need a winch on the back. Yes, I want to hear the real story of behind the RUclips sponsor stuff…… And…you have made little references to your health. Prayers……take care of yourself!
I really don't mind the whole sponsorship thing. I usually fast forward through those anyway. If sponsorships help folks put out more RUclips content, so be it. I enjoy yours, Paul's, and Heavy D's video's. Commercials are part of the world we live in. You do you and don't worry about the others. The millions of people who watch these video's have millions of opinions on how they would do something, but only a few actually doing it. Some of us may actually like green juice in the morning. LoL 😆
Everybody has an opinion and different time schedule in their day I can respect yours ....... but it's not the way I feel about it I don't care for sponsored videos I don't have the luxury of being able to fast forward through it most of the time
Here I thought I was the only one who jumped a head to get back to the video. I get bombarded enough with commercials as it is, I don't need / want to sit and watch another.
Love it. I'm a volunteer bush firefighter in down under Australia. In the US you would call us wildland or brush firefighters. Having resilient helpful citizens with own equipment is very helpful, indeed our fledging fire service started in this very way over 100 years ago. Of course we werre talking fire beaters and knapsack tanks back then. Love your fire gear.
Our son did firefighting in the summers when he was in college. His company called it wildland firefighting. The company is here in Oregon but during the years our son was there they called to fight fires in Washington, California, Idaho, Nebraska, North Carolina and Alaska
Great to have a fire suppression unit ready to go. That little set up can go a long way to fast response containment especially if other resources are already engaged in other activities. Very interested in the sponsorship information.
Bring on the sponsorship video I want to know the back side of those workings. Also while I enjoy Matt’s off-road and FabRats your channel is more pure. What you see is what you get! I think if we lived closer we could be great friends! I am a very no BS kind of guys myself.
Great content. I especially appreciate it considering I'm a retired FF. And would love to see a video on the Sponsorship/Commercial content. I've always been curious as to how it works. Love your channel, lots of great ideas and I like your honesty and interests. 👍🇺🇸
casey Iam 78yrs old and in the UK. Yes, I enjoy your posts and the honest way you run your life .I agree with craig in hist post you mention sponsorship and also Paul from fab rats have you noted how much he is relying on sponsorship and merch sales. caseey it is your #&your family life if you have a good life then live it do not change / have you noted how all these tv program buisneses have closed down. NOT you stay as you are stay safe continue to rescue tidy the world but stay happy safe &keep posting . thank you
Casey I like your fire trailer set up. I was very fortunate to have had a wonderful career as a firefighter. One of the things I was involved in was upgrading and implementing changes to our fire departments wildland program. We were very fortunate to have lots of resources, ie. money and so we could buy and try out a bunch of different wildland equipment and gear and like you we spent weeks with Cal Fire on the line and in their schools like Fort Hunter Liggett and in Costa County where they both do controlled burns on huge military training grounds. We even got to help do some of the testing for the newer fire shelters that the brother of one of the wildland firefighters who was killed on Storm King mountain helped developed. We were also involved in bringing some of the awesome training from Cal Fire to Oregon by helping to develop and put on the Central Oregon Wildfire school (COW's)... I do have a couple of small suggestions for your wildland trailer. Since water is such a premium we found that adding a shut off bale before your nozzle can help save water and time by not have to dial the nozzle open and closed everytime you use it and you can leave it preset on whatever spray pattern you want. Second I would suggest you make a hose line to the length needed to spray from the cab for fast running grass fires... I've learned several things from watching your channel. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your life with the rest of us👍😊...
My dad was a welder since he was a kid in the 40's. Never was for work, he just enjoyed doing it. Built trailers, worked on cars, made hanging planter stands, even made little figurines out of nuts, bolts and and scraps he had laying around. It's a hobby for some work for others. You have a great channel to watch and it's obviously working for you. Keep doing you! That's the reason we watch you.
Looks very capable Casey, I hope you never need it! I don't have your particular health issues, but heat is a problem for me too. It can really aggravate my own problems, and certainly earns me some bonus level Grumpy Points. But in a few short months, fluffy rain season will be back, and I will be filled with a great and selective nostalgia for warmer days while I'm taking the snowblower for another walk, or doing one of my graceful modern dance interpretations displaying the complex love triangle between traction, gravity and ice that inevitably culminates in a dramatic pose as I return to a closer relationship with the Earth. For those that did not pick up a program on the way in...it's the slippy dance I do on ice just before I fall on my butt. 👍
Been there, done that just can't describe it nearly as poetically. It hurts too much if I fall. Last winter the paper was thrown onto the driveway and there was already snow on the ground. I decided that it was not important enough to risk falling outside in the snow and cold to get the paper. It was still there when it was safe to go out and get it after the temperature came up and was not slick. All comes down to risk assessment and yesterday's news was not worth it.
@@davidvogel6359 I understood you very well. But I AM multilingual, While my native tongue is English, ('Merica Baby), I am fluent in Red neck, Smart-Alek and Snark. I was following just what you put down. :D:D:D
I’m dying to see the “secrets behind RUclips sponsorship” and a walk through of the RV saga you’ve been going through. Thank you for these videos in advance.
I love the idea of a fire trailer. I used to live in an area where you had to be self sufficient. I turned a 1967 Toyota pickup into a fire rig. Had 2 55 gallon drums, some hose, and a US Army water pump from WW2. Small rig, but for 7 acres , was perfect.
I think the reason everyone gets lumped together is because people think just because you are on "RUclips" and someone else is that you know each other. I know channels that do collaborations; for example Cleetus McFarlane and his inviting other RUclipsrs to join in a race. People just assume everyone knows everyone and make comments based on that thinking, however impractical it might be. You are in Oregon, not Utah or California or Tennessee. I liken watching a channel to eating at a restaurant; if I don't like it, I just don't go back. Well, I keep coming back because NO ONE is as good at being Casey Ladelle as you are. I like what you serve. Great video!
Good for you on standing up for what you believe in, just remember to surround yourself with people who make you a better you. Thanks again for the content and the dedication to helping others.
Couldn’t agree more about the commercials. I’ve been a roofer for 35 yrs and the BBB and Angie’s List are the same. If you want their support you pay, doesn’t make you a good business. Keep doing it your way, I’ll keep watching
Exactly. Isn't just BBB or Angie's list though. It's almost everything. Even Google and yelp want money to keep your business at the top of their searches It's alot harder to find local subcontractors/vendors without having to wade through all of the paid ads from 100+ miles outside our area. When you live and work in a rural community you want to support those that are around you, not necessarily companies that are miles and miles away. I miss the days of phone books.
I have two of those water tanks. A local food processing company gets those tanks filled with Agave Syrup from Mexico. They sell the tanks on Craigslist and recoup some money. I use them to transport water to my house because my well failed aver a year ago. They work very well for my needs since they had a food product in them are and food grade tanks. I love the honesty, transparency and sincerity of your channel. I just watched your video where you detailed RUclips income, Google Analytics, sponsorships, etc. It is a very detailed video. I've never watched a video that long before. I'm going to share it in a content creator group I'm part of. I used to be a Jeeper, so it was really interesting seeing the places you went whole narrating the video!
Those that have almost lost a lot due to a quickly spreading fire, know exactly why you have a trailer prepared. Sometimes 5 minutes makes the difference between huge losses and no big deal, when the fire department is 15-20 minutes away. Yes on sponsorship video details. I have noted that every youtube contributor worth his salt gets "helpful" comments. Also noted is that those contributors that push back on the comments, get even more comments, but less friendly. Matt of MORR in the last month has started using humorous sarcasm to deal with this. When someone tells him something obvious or ridiculous, he thanks them for their help and tells them that he would have completely missed the issue if not for the amazing help. I'm loving it! Good luck to you Sir, and may you never need your fire trailer.
Yes on the sponsorships video please. I’ve been wondering how some channels grow so fast and seem to have a never ending supply of money to build new projects every episode lol. Having said that I like the Fab Rats channel content. Heavy D is ok but I don’t watch him much. Your channel I can relate to a lot more. I’m a firefighter/AEMT in two counties in Alabama and we get a lot of wildland/brush fires here. We’re all volunteer.
@@notsevenfeettall Does he have a lot of guys working for him ? They seemed to have a big crew when they went to Utah to pull several cars up out of a canyon , that couldn`t be removed from down below . ( It was on the MORR channel . )
@@williameddy1662 Yes, he does have a fairly decent sized crew, makes Matt's crew look small I think (in terms of size of the group itself), and too many of them come off as hicks in my estimation, and not overly smart in some ways too. A couple of days later, Heavy D had the video up long before Matt did, almost a week later, but it was fun seeing the different perspectives between the 2 channels.
Always appreciated your candor and straightforwardness about the job without the fluff and over-dramatization. Copied from another poster, which says it all! I am a retired tradesman (Master electrician, electronics, specialized in fixing large foundry inverters, worked in a electric motor shop for 10 years), anything electrical-ask me, I was a administrator on a motorcycle forum-VerticalScope owns over 2000 various forums, advertising is their forte, they really don't care about posters or members. Sadly, it seems that you are among the few honest people on RUclips, funny you would mention heavyD, Paul and you missed Matt, FYI , at least two of the 3 have fines either pending or completed. You have time, do that video on RUclips and money-I should mention, that RV is a good example of what is going wrong with this world, finding a reputable dealer with knowledgeable staff -SOMETHING like hunting for a needle in a hay stack!
I enjoy seeing a fellow Oregonian on YT. It's even better to see you doing things your own way AND supporting your family at the same time. (I think that is the most important part.) Keep up the good work Casey!
I am disappointed, NOT, that you won't be promoting "Keeps", "Raid Shadow Legends"" or some awful green concoction that you drink and is supposed to give you super powers. I appreciate your no BS approach, never ever apologise for being honest and true to your own values, Best regards form the UK.
Your the man Casey to be honest with you I would watch anything you choose to video with your no b.s. attitude I've never seen you sugar coat anything and that's why I perfer watching your channel over any of the others. I would be interested in what you have to say about sponsorship. God bless and as always be safe 👍
Shovels, rakes, and implements of destruction. It's very cool to see candor and honesty on youtube. That people can have an opinion based on actual experience, not just because a company pays them to read a speech. It's even more cool when you say 'this isn't sponsored, I bought this' and then you show that it's pretty darned solid. Like that HF water pump. You said 'haven't started this since last year' and it pops over on the first pull. I've got a lawn mower that I can't get to turn over on a first pull even using it weekly. Seeing a 2 stroke turn over at first pull makes me want to know more, which means I look forward to see more videos on this channel. Wow, that's a lot of words to say 'I'm going to keep watching for more!'
It's interesting that you felt that you needed to explain your background - after watching several (ok - almost every one of them that I can) of your previous videos, I was too busy admiring your fabrication skills and ability to even think that you needed someone to "come help you". As you clearly stated (and have shown umpteen different times), you have an amazing skillset, and I for one love watching your videos because you are you, not someone trying to shill something all the time. I for one would love to see you disassemble a sponsorship video!! BTW - I love seeing the interactions that you have with your friends - that shows who you are and that you don't mince words!
I must admit that I picked up on your channel from some of the others. Honestly, I never opened RUclips just to see if you had a new episode posted. I am a subscriber but if the thumbnail and leader comment didn't interest me, I might pass by for other channels. That changed today. Not that I didn't previously have respect for you and what you do (I do), but your comments to the YT audience was more than refreshing. Before I watched to see what you were doing, from now on I will watch to also hear what you have to say. I know it's a fine line you have to walk with subscribers, potential sponsors, etc., but if you have the courage to stand up for what you think, that is actually more important to me than everything else. And my thoughts on you having product support with Harbor Freight? Where do I sign up LOL. I haven't bought a tool from anywhere else in almost 15 years (not including specialty tools). Would I rather support a company selling American made products? Yes, but I can't afford them and still put food on the table. Should you make a video about sponsors and YT for profit. Only if it will make you feel better. There are plenty out there and if anyone wanted to know (I did, and well, yeah) they can go look at someone that likes to rain on parades. You stick to you and what you are and what you do. That is what got me watching your channel. Not sponsors. I did find you from another YT channel but I have stayed because of the content you provide. And now I will continue to stay because you want to keep it all real. That's not popular, but I love it!
Yeah it’s definitely a balancing act to walk that fine line between all the diff sides to this. But if I’m going to fall off that line, I’m going to fall to the side that has my integrity on it
Fellow Oregonian here. Would love to hear the backdoor dealings of RUclips. HeavyD seems to have helicopters, planes, etc. I enjoy your videos for your can-do whatever-it-takes with whatever-you-have attitude. It’s refreshing in its honesty and in its thriftiness.
I've got a 2500 gallon tank I slide in my 6x6 2.5 ton everything is wide open for me so if we need ATV/UTV assistance I can easily fill them but we always keep property lines cut short and can backburn pretty quick to save ours then go help neighbors and we have the luxury of fighting most non structure fires with tractors and tillage equipment the main concern is getting livestock out of harm's way
Where do you think casey stole the idea from? Lol (joking) it is possible for different people from different parts of the world to have the same exact idea.
Your Awesome! I've hated this heat wave. I appreciate your honesty. I've enjoyed watching your channel. I want you to understand something from me and your fans. DON'T READ/LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE CHAT. We all Love you appreciate your work ethics and you love for the outdoors. THANK YOU BROTHER!
Thanks man. I just bought that exact pump and I was thinking that I had to match up a bunch of fittings to make it work. I'm glad it works great to just drop a line into the IBC and let 'er rip tater chip.
Total admiration for you Casey. No BS on your channel. I watch all your videos here in the Uk, there are only four youtube channels that I try never to miss. Diesel Creek, Adventures Made from Scratch, Cutting Edge Engineering and of course your own.
Casey, I really enjoyed your collaboration with Matt’s Off-road Recovery here in St. George. I do watch his channel, your channel, Heavy D‘s channel and enjoy what I get out of each one of them, commercials or not. Each one of them are so different. I hope things are OK for you, in a way it seemed like you were kind of down. I understand about the heat, here in St. George it can get as high as 118°. I hope you come back down for Matt’s “world’s biggest wrecker” reveal, whenever that happens. You had a part in it and it would be fun to see you here. You keep doing you, because that’s why we come here, that’s what we enjoy, and let all of the other stuff roll. I don’t think people say things like that to belittle you, I just think they would enjoy seeing collaboration between all of the RUclipsrs that they watch. It is harmless.
The fire department I worked for here in Mid-Michigan we would take the snowplow off for the summer and slide in a skid mounted rig similar to yours, just a lot bigger pump with 60-70 psi..then we bought a mini-pumper 4 door truck to replace an engine…..never got to run it, retired before we got it. Nice set up on a budget indeed…
G'day from Australia that's a nice-looking low budget fire trailer I've just recently finished building a 400 litre version excluding the already built 6x4 trailer of which I purchased in mid-March my trailer unit consists of a 1.6 hp 1'' fire pump, 400 litre tank,3/4'' outlet connected to a t piece with a black smooth hose leading to the pump inlet and a secondary outlet fitted with a gate valve/wajax forestry coupling for refilling from water tankers I've got 2 black rubber lines as my primary and secondary attack lines and at present a 38 mm cam lock hose of which I'm planning to replace with something much more light weight the pump gives out 120 litres a minute so I can get about 20 minutes of water supply before running out
The reason I watch you is because you're just a guy doing what you love, and have a passion for. You make mistakes becuase you are human. And you aren't afraid to act human. You are for the average guy with what you recommend and show. I can imagine it sucks people constantly repeat the same recommendations of changes to your content.. Try to not let it get to ya. I figure it was just a vent out and call out moment of the constant spam of it all the time. I've been less patient than you about those kinds of things in the past. Just keep doing you good sir. I wish you well!
You're the real deal Casey. That is coming from a 54 year old man who's been through some stuff. I enjoy off roading, camping, helping others, protecting our environment for the enjoyment of future generations. I'm a Georgia boy, a combat veteran, a Jesus follower, a grandpa, an RN, a lot of things.... I can tell you're the real REAL. We would like to hear your views on RUclips and sponsorship and anything else you've got to offer. We'll be watching regularly. Keep doing what you do!
I have a very similar setup. I recommend getting a short garden hose and running it off the wye and back into the tank so you can have recirculation through the pump when you aren't spraying water on the fire.
I just learned that on my pressure washer (all of them I guess) is that if the engine and pump are on the water needs to be flowing or you will burn up the pump. I've had the pressure washer for years and didn't know that and it still works fine, but it does say it in the manual - so I zip-tied my handle on the wand to be on the "on" position all the time. Plus it saves my hands from having to squeeze it!
I have experience with several of the HF predator engines and I have to say that I am impressed with them being reliable and easy to start even after years. Nice and easy to assemble fire trailer. Everything looks dry there and the 100 degree plus heat I am sure is not helping. I live in a wooded area of SE Ohio. About 10 years ago a neighbor decided to burn trash during a high wind and dry period. Caught the woods behind me on fire maybe 20 acres of woods I walk regularly. Pretty shocking when you have not been around it.
Your fire fighting trailer is a good insurance policy. I am impressed with the performance of your water pump. Your rig looks like an effective model for many who are looking for a rapid response strategy for brush fires in their area. Stay safe and be prepared.
I have the same pump running the irrigation system I built for my 10 acre garden been a champ for this is it's 6th year IDK how many gallons it's pumped I have a 2500 gallon tank off an old fire truck that slides in the back of my 2.5 ton 6x6 I tun to town and for a buck I can fill it where the fire trucks fill off the side of the city shop
It is refreshing to watch unbiased Utube, a rarity these days. Keep up the great work! Would be interesting to see the reaction from those people that aren’t as honest as you and being paid to promote products not for their reliability or usefulness, but solely for the money
I used to work for a major fire company here in Australia where we also know a lot about bushfires as we call them, I would buy a 6x4 box trailer with chunky offroad tires and make a baffled galvanized box that fitted inside the trailer box and mounted an enlarged fuel tank Firefighter pump on the drawbar also shrouded by galvanized steel so the trailer could withstand firestorms, as there are so few refilling points the pump had enough fuel to empty the tank then you got out of there.
Good video. Good attitude. The multi-million sub channels in the genre have big plant eye-candy to hook viewers, they're designed to be great entertainment and often they do good. But your problem-solving skills keep your channel flying straight and entertaining too. A lot of us who came up from being farm kids needed to be skilled in a whole bunch of things, whereas bigger businesses have whole departments that deal with different kinds of problems, and so are kind of insulated from the risk element. Your fire department is your water truck. Keep up the good work.
First off I love your videos and respect the fact that you don't sell yourself out to just any sponsorship. I would definitely like to see a sponsorship/Infomercial video.
never sat through a whole commercial, ( ha ha) I agree with you, when I watch I watch I skip the commercials, I men ads, I mean supportive infomercials. Yeah those.
Casey you should use the other side of the Y valve for a recirculation hose so if you are not using much water you can recirculate the water to the tank that way you wont burn up the pump
Thanks for the lesson about simple fire fighting set up. I do watch videos of the you tubers that you mentioned and enjoy them for what they're worth. I really appreciate your videos that are down to earth and very informative. Please reveal the truth about You Tube sponsors. I have picked up on some of them and ignore them like most people. I think Paul may be more like you and relies more on selling his merch. I don't think you need to send anything to him. It appears he keeps busy just as you do and I think that your welding works just fine. Thanks again for your kindness to others. I really enjoy watching your videos showing that there are still some kindhearted people in the world.
A video about sponsorships would be great! It's like the magazine industry where little real journalism happens but we get ads disguised as articles. I'm with you on the heat. It isn't fun when the heat makes me physically I'll. My wife thinks I'm being lazy and just can't comprehend what the heat does to me. Hope the weather improves soon for you.
You are very good at making videos you have a lot of videos.. don't listen to the negativity or the haters they're just going to throw you off and they don't have a life you're doing really well just ignore them I have to do that all the time too. We enjoy your videos we like your adventures the most..
I understand sponsorships. I have been watching a couple (ship happens) who are rebuilding a wooden WWII boat that was left to rot away. They flat out say, they are not proud of having sponsors, but if it was not for them, they would not be able to rebuild this boat at the speed they are doing it. Most of the time, RUclipsr's built in advertisement does not fit me, so if I do not like the "advertisement section" I just slide past that part. I also use Brave as my browser, so I do not have any advertisement breaks. I know it hurts some RUclipsr's payroll, but it fits my needs. One of the primary reasons for watching your channel is the scenery, and straight shooting. I also enjoy the cleanup videos as much as they irritate me. I commend you on having a fire plan. Our boy scout troop just went through the Fire Safety MB this past year. One of the things we discussed was home fire safety and discussed a number of "What If" scenarios. It seams like a lot of people do not put any forethought into being prepared until it is to late. I have a cousin that has lost 4 house in California due to wild fires. He rebuilds, just like the previous home, never learning to build-in or find a way to take that extra precaution against wild fires. Have a great end of your summer. I am looking forward to your winter recoveries, they are actually my favorites.
the option takes to long to prime in an emergency have the suction hose as Option connect to outlet valve of tank and see what other people use and the fire department and make all connections the same so you can go anywhere with the unit and likewise people can help you .
The hose has a check valve on it so that once it’s primed, it stays primed. That is the one and only time I’ll have to prime it until I set it up again next year.
I take sponsorships, because it helps me survive. And I’m not a sellout and I always give an honest opinion about every tool or product that is sponsored. They don’t force me to say anything they simply pay me to demonstrate the tool or product. That’s the only secret I know of and I’ve done dozens of sponsored videos. That’s the secret.
One of the hunt camps near my camp have a Japanse import firetruck that was built on one of the mini kei 4x4 trucks. I guess they use them as small pump support vehicles to put out dumpster fires etc.. they have a small tank but also draw water from a larger tank truck or hydrant..he has his set up to draw from a towed tank or a pond if the on-board tank runs dry..it's only about 50 gallons.
Love your little fire trailer, and love the proactive thinking that prompted you to build it and refresh it every summer!! Don't worry about other YT channels. Since COVID started 2+ years ago I watch a variety of channels, including some that are clearly "more commercial", but your channel is always honest, realistic, and worth watching. I'm sure many of us would be interested in a YT secrets video.
Coming off a little salty man, I feel you with the heat, in the same boat since having a heart attack, just can't take it anymore. Don't let the commenters get to you, keep being you because thats what all the fans love. And while I love Pauls content too the obvious sponsorships are quite noticeable. Try to ignore it and keep supporting him with views but when its now your full time gig I get it.
I love your refreshingly honest approach to RUclips. I value your reviews over most others, as well as your minimalist approach to getting things done. You haven't sold out. I hope you never do. Sponsorship video would be interesting.
I hope you don’t let the comments about “You should call so and so” get to you, but I can understand how it could be exhausting. You’ll never hear that type of comment from me. I will suggest that I do enjoy collaborations between my favorite RUclipsrs, so hopefully that’s more what those folks are suggesting, more than saying any job is out of your league. From what I’ve seen, you’re a very talented, diversely capable, honest, hardworking guy.
Bring on the sponsorship video I want to know the back side of those workings. I want to hear it from a no BS type of guy. Enjoying all of your vids. Keep up the great work.
Casey, 100% agree. the other channels have their view and goals, you don't and there's nothing wrong with that. I am interested in a video about RUclips sponsorship. I say keep up the great content and do your thing.
Casey I have a lot of respect for you, thanks for making the point of the sponsors. Would love to know more about the details behind how RUclipsrs make their money
Your videos are very enjoyable to watch. If someone doesn't like your style or attitude, they can go find someone else to watch on YT. You can tell your honest because you show your true feelings, be it good or bad. If someone wants a smiling "yes" person that is always happy, then they can go watch a scripted BS video. Thanks for keeping it real and great job on your fire fighting trailer set up. Stay safe and take care of yourself!!!
I think the "Behind the scenes" video from RUclips would be beneficial to a lot of people that follow youtubers. Thanks for the firefighting trailer. I've been thinking about putting one together myself and its time now after watching yours.
I really like your honesty. I would enjoy your behind the scenes life as a sponsored RUclipsr video. I have watched a few Heavy D videos, but when you make a video about going 800 ft underground to solve a perspiration issue it is certainly a commercial. You can tell who the RUclipsrs who have cash sponsors by how clickbaity their titles read. There are some channels I used to watch, but really reduced how much I watch them based on the video name. Most of the time they hype something so stupid they could have just said what they were doing in the video and I would have been more interested. I think my top rated channels right now are your channel, Casey's Off Road Recovery, and Trail Mater. You all keep it simple, yet interesting.
Was on the little local volunteer fire dept for 20 years. I grew up on the family farm one day after one of our 4 row cotton pickers caught fire. My Dad told me to get 2 1000 gallon water tanks that was on a very duty trailer and make them 2 fire trailers. On our farm parts of it was about 20 miles from the fire dept and what ever was on fire would burn before a truck could make it. They had 2 inch hoses that was adopted down to a 1 inch with a 10hp water pump engine. I put regular dish washing soap in the water. The soap makes water stay put without running off. When your dealing with equipment that cost more than your house you don't want it to burn. Even if you have insurance you would be without that equipment at least several days
I would like to see the YOU TUBE financial arrangements. Your business ethics are great and it is refreshing to see a working man explain the "system".
I've watched some other channels and think that Rory has crafted an amazing beast in Trail Mater that fits his Off-Road Recover business extremely well. As uniquely talented at Off-Road Recoveries and fabrication, Rory used his newly built boom wrecker to go grab a Jeep and drag it down to the shop from a campsite. The Jeep had rear-end issues and I commented, that Casey would have used the Collins Dollies and it might be worth Rory's time to use them and not risk further damage to an already compromised axle. Rory will take that or leave it, but the comments help feed the algorithms and I don't expect Rory to mail me a check or come over and punch me in the face.
I understand about being in the heat and sun. The meds I take dosen't let me do it anymore. I don't have a bag yet but have UC and my son has chrons. Keep doing whst you do you have the perfect set up for what you do. Much respect
Hey Casey I actually really enjoy how you stick to your beliefs on the whole marketing thing seems like a great preventative setup you have there on the trailer, being fire ready will save your butt when a situation arises. Sadly seeing so many use the patreon side of things now I love a few of those creators but not gunna sub to 9 different channels at and astronomical fee. That being said I would be curious to better understand yt's platform you have a safe week 👍🇦🇺
Hey Casey, please do make that video. I am planning to start my own channel and I'd like to have the frank opinion of how it all works. I have no illusion that it is easy or simple. I just want to document doing what I love, talk a bout things that matter to me and sugar coat nothing. Thanks for keeping it real and showing HOW to do it with some class.
Please make the video on sponsorship. This video was very insightful, we are 125 miles from you and flanked on 3 sides by sagebrush and grass, we had a fire start yesterday, it is scary. We need to invest in a system just like this, for our own piece on mind. Thank you for you videos🙌
I made a very similar setup to take to a local Boy Scout camp for fire protection. Used it for several years until all my boys were grown and ended up giving the setup to another adult scout leader and as far as I know it's still being used.
Casey, I’m not a critic but just as a suggestion, you should think about running a hose from your 3/4” discharge back into your tank. If your pumps running but your not spraying water, it’ll keep water flowing through your pump and keep it cool and help prevent damage to your pump. Just a friendly suggestion from a firefighter in Michigan!!
Thanks for your content, and your honest and unvarnished comments. I enjoy all your regular postings, and watch them all, but I would also really enjoy your explanation of the way RUclips sponsorships work. I have my suspicions, but that may just be my cynical nature. Your assessment would help clarify. Thanks again for all you do. It's all much appreciated.
I've had heat exhaustion and can't take the heat, either. So, I understand the frustration of not being able to do anything outside when it's hot. I, recently, ordered a cooling vest. It has pockets on the inside that you put ice packs into. It's heavy and uncomfortable, but it really works. I was able to mow the entire yard without getting too hot. You might want to check into it.
To answer some questions…
The reason I use a suction hose in the top of the tank instead of connecting the pump to the bottom valve is so that if needed, I can pull up to a water source and throw the suction hose right into it to refill the tank.
Totally agreed
Paul's channel is a lot of fun to watch just like yours is but for different reasons. And as for heavy D's I can't disagree. He's not bashful about it at all.
Paul??
@@markchase5323 Paul. Fabrats channel.
What part of Alabama are you in? I’m in central Alabama.
@@livewithnick North
Casey, your honesty and ethics are why I love your channel. You are one of the few that I trust on here and would love to know more about how the sponsorship thing works in the background.
Basically the company gives you a script and you have to do shameless plugs even if the product is junk
@@davidwoermansr same here, and i would also love to hear more of this youtube story.
Ditto, I can guess but knowing what you've experienced would be probably even more illuminating of the illuminati heh heh
He was part of diesel brothers and got the massive fine right?
Always appreciated your candor and straightforwardness about the job without the fluff and overdramatization.
Casey please keep being honest. We can see it & know that you are a good man. Share your experiences with anything here on RUclips. ❤️
Yes, I want to hear the real story of behind the RUclips sponsor stuff……
And…you have made little references to your health.
Especially when people like This young man gives back as much as he does. Some of these channels appear to be all take. Appears to be.
@@SagebrushRambles there's a little bit of a difference between luxury and capability
You are one of the only youtubers I would trust to be honest about youtube sponsorships. If you're up for making the video, I will 100% watch it.
casey Iam 78yrs old and in the UK.
That was Great !
I enjoyed reading the way you worded your comment.
Thank you for the chuckle grin 🙂
I too can't take the heat well. I am doing better drinking electrolytes, but I'll never be good in the heat.
Even Google and yelp want money to keep your business at the top of their searches
It's alot harder to find local subcontractors/vendors without having to wade through all of the paid ads from 100+ miles outside our area.
They seemed to have a big crew when they went to Utah to pull several cars up out of a canyon , that couldn`t be
removed from down below .
I didn't Matt because I don't have countless people telling me I need to call Matt every single day.
We don't ask you to do stuff with other RUclipsrs for money, but it will give you exposure to others they may enjoy your content!
I enjoy seeing a fellow Oregonian on YT. It's even better to see you doing things your own way AND supporting your family at the same time. (I think that is the most important part.)
Keep up the good work Casey!
But if I’m going to fall off that line, I’m going to fall to the side that has my integrity on it
YES we want to see sponsers video, bring it on.
My buddy outside Prineville has a nearly identical set-up on a trailer as well as a smaller tank with an electric pump on the back of his utility sxs.
Great video onfire safety. Yes I would like to see the you tube payed sponsorship.

G'day from Australia that's a nice-looking low budget fire trailer I've just recently finished building a 400 litre version excluding the already built 6x4 trailer of which I purchased in mid-March my trailer unit consists of a 1.6 hp 1'' fire pump, 400 litre tank,3/4'' outlet connected to a t piece with a black smooth hose leading to the pump inlet and a secondary outlet fitted with a gate valve/wajax forestry coupling for refilling from water tankers
I've got 2 black rubber lines as my primary and secondary attack lines and at present a 38 mm cam lock hose of which I'm planning to replace with something much more light weight the pump gives out 120 litres a minute so I can get about 20 minutes of water supply before running out
The reason I watch you is because you're just a guy doing what you love, and have a passion for.
👊for not being a RUclips commercial
Love the "commercial" vs "episode" topic! The genuineness (is that a word?) of your channel is a breath of fresh air and admirable.
your way of making videos is the exact reason im subscribed, it just makes sence, simple and honest content that is a joy to watch, so thank you
I have a very similar setup.
Do the RUclips sponsors video, your ethics about the way you run this channel and products you endorse is always on spot.
We understand and we love you for who you are very honest and to the point
Hearty “Yes” to video about RUclips sponsorships
Nice fire fighting trailer rig! Amazing that the HF pump started on the first pull after sitting for a year. Yes on the RUclips sponsorship vid.
What a cool little setup and handles 95% of all fires. Keep it the Casey way.
never sat through a whole commercial, ( ha ha) I agree with you, when I watch I watch I skip the commercials, I men ads, I mean supportive infomercials. Yeah those.
Casey you should use the other side of the Y valve for a recirculation hose so if you are not using much water you can recirculate the water to the tank that way you wont burn up the pump
Definitely love that video from someone like you! Someone like you means not bought and paid for as 99% of the world is.
Definitely want to see a video about sponsorship. I love the way you just lay it out there. It is what it is. Thanks for the great videos
I am looking forward to your winter recoveries, they are actually my favorites.
the option takes to long to prime in an emergency
have the suction hose as Option
connect to outlet valve of tank and see what other people use and the fire department and make all connections the same so you can go anywhere with the unit and likewise people can help you .
I never said sponsors were a bad thing or that I wouldn’t do them.
Looks like you have always been doing great on your own. That’s why I watch your videos.
Keep up with what you're doing. Don't let anyone or any company control you. I admire your ethics and enjoy watching your channel.
I get those comments literally every single day, from 10 to 100 times a day. It gets old.
@@CaseyLaDelle I’m sure it does. Stay cool Casey!
Please make the behind the scenes video, your honesty is appreciated and hilariously entertaining
This is why I love your channel Casey.... You are honest and to the point.
Of course we do
That’s why I like Casey , no nonsense
I vote yes on the secrets behind the videos
I've had heat exhaustion and can't take the heat, either. So, I understand the frustration of not being able to do anything outside when it's hot. I, recently, ordered a cooling vest. It has pockets on the inside that you put ice packs into. It's heavy and uncomfortable, but it really works. I was able to mow the entire yard without getting too hot. You might want to check into it.
