@@tirebiter1680The speed limit on Slovenian highways is 130 km/h or 80 mph, which is faster than you are allowed to drive in most of the USA. The only country with highways that have no speed limit is Germany.
On the topic of bees, slovenian honey bees referred to in the video aren't assholes so you don't need to kill them most of the time. However, If you have ever had to run like hell because the wind blew a hive out of tree onto your car while you are washing it or you discovered an underground nest they decided to make in your garden when just tilled three weeks early, you may want to kill one or two bees or the hundred chasing you around and trying to kamikaze you to death for a mile before leaving you alone. Seriously, I am chased around at least once a year. Usually its the damn yellowjackets here in the US though, which are wasps not bees. Every year, early fall-ish. How dare I move my trash can to the road and back? I have to constantly get rid of them either by wiping out the whole colony or getting the whole colony to move. And they will just swarm your ass on sight. At least bees usually are provoked whether you did so or not like the hive falling from a gust of wind. Yellowjackets not so much. Males can't sting but there are a lot of females and they just attack. Just kill those find the colony and wipe them out with gasoline dry ice poison low grade explosives maybe a pound of tannerite. Maybe catch a raccoon and let him munch down on them. The worse thing about them outside trying to murder you is is they'll get rid of your other pollinators. If you see them around a hive, they are trying to kill the honey bees off. So pick the right side in the pollinator war. Choose the fuzzy ones.
I've visit it in 2017 the region of Nova Gorica... Beautiful countryside villages and an amazing landscape, But I went to play on a "RAVE" party at the Soča Valley... 😁
I went to Kranjska Gora when I was young, for the cold, white sliding and it was nice. But it was the Yugoslavia then, so OK. I drank some Slivovitz also.
Reason #12 should have been: "Do not come to Slovenia if you are afraid to meet an intelligent, beautiful, and funny woman who you will want to marry."
I was still coming if there was only 10 reasons ,but 11 , that was the magic number . Oh ,How does a cave go about getting registered ? seems like it would be difficult for it to travel to the government offices to do so .
This was educational and funny to watch. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS AND ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS!!😇👍👍
I'm in Slovenia now and it's terrible. People seem to be upset, behave in cocky and arrogant way, especially men. It's typical post-soviet country with grey shabby buildings and impolite people
The combined network of ziplines in Slovenija is considered the longest in the world. Have been on them twice. In Žalec, Slovenija, there's a beer fountain in the heart of their hops growing region. You purchase an empty mug and can sample all the craft brews in the country from various fountains arranged in a semicircle. Barbara was spot in about all the different dialects. Went on a tour and our driver was unfamiliar with the area so he stopped at a local tavern to get directions. Came back a few minutes later and stated he didn't understand a single word of the inn keeper, less than an hour's drive from Ljubljana.
OK, one serious question. I have never been to a bear country to hike before. And next year I will be hiking in Logar Valley/Robernov Kot/Bohinj Lake area in May. Also going to see daffodils in Jesenice. Should I be worried about my safety?
Tata = dad, grandpa Tate, tati, tato = different forms of the word tata (I don't have a dad = nimam tate, I gave it to my dad = dal sem tati, go ask my dad = vprašaj tato) Tatu = thief, but the basic form is "tat", tatu is just another form of the word tat With all that said we don't really use these words often, the more common ones are oče/ati = dad and ropar = thief, the ones you wrote are from different dialects
@@sam_vos I was preparing a 1000-word vocabulary list of words from the former Yugoslavia and I found many words that seemed to mean the same or similar -- dozens of forms of Boga/Bogi/Bogu, for example... It was very enlightening.
Amazing video😊. My grandmother was slovene. She taught me the language ( the way she spoke). Than I attended bilingual elementary school ( italian/slovene) near Trieste.
My family runs Lake Powell in AZ. It is like Havasu in CA.
It helps the Navajo Nation greatly.
Slovenian Tourism Board: "We need to attract more tourists!"
Barb: "Will work for beer!"
Due to an unfortunate misspelling (in English, for reasons best to not think too hard about) the tourism board attempted to pay her in bees.
What a great video. Keep going, I have had fun watching you
I was still coming if there was only 10 reasons ,but 11 , that was the magic number . Oh ,How does a cave go about getting registered ? seems like it would be difficult for it to travel to the government offices to do so .
This was educational and funny to watch. Your delivery throughout was like you had "lost a bet and someone just off camera was forcing you to complete the video and constantly prodding you to say everything in a way that you didn't agree with."😂
I always enjoy your sense of humor. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS AND ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS!!😇👍👍
I'm in Slovenia now and it's terrible. People seem to be upset, behave in cocky and arrogant way, especially men. It's typical post-soviet country with grey shabby buildings and impolite people
Leave my country and Dont never ever come back
Well i agree that the lipicanec ( lipizzaner) is a beautiful horse and yes they are very cute ❤ i have seen then in real life 2 times
Watching the replay!
Im Slovenian and love forest,my uncle is bee keeper and my wife is guide in Postojnska Jama!
Dobr video Barbara
OK, one serious question. I have never been to a bear country to hike before. And next year I will be hiking in Logar Valley/Robernov Kot/Bohinj Lake area in May. Also going to see daffodils in Jesenice. Should I be worried about my safety?
9:47 If I recall correctly, the Lipizzaner lives like 40 years, when other horses live like 20?
I hope someday I can swing a trip. Gotta see where my family came from.
Correction :
The deepest lake in slovenia is actually "Wild Lake" reaching an depth of 160 meters. (520 feet)
You have a wonderful sense of humor, and you made me laugh several times! You made Slovenia look fantastic, and I hope to visit some day!
Well, despite your glowing endorsement of Slovenia, we're going to visit! :-)
Loved your video - very funny. Thanks!
6:38 ... I have been told that Tata, Tate, Tati and Tato all mean "Daddy," but Tatu means thief. What does that mean?
Tata = dad, grandpa
Tate, tati, tato = different forms of the word tata (I don't have a dad = nimam tate, I gave it to my dad = dal sem tati, go ask my dad = vprašaj tato)
Tatu = thief, but the basic form is "tat", tatu is just another form of the word tat
With all that said we don't really use these words often, the more common ones are oče/ati = dad and ropar = thief, the ones you wrote are from different dialects
@@sam_vos It is an extremely complex language. So Barbara is correct that it must be difficult for foreigners to learn. Thank you for explaining.
@@WhereWhatHuh i guess, it's normal to us so i never really noticed it😅
@@sam_vos I was preparing a 1000-word vocabulary list of words from the former Yugoslavia and I found many words that seemed to mean the same or similar -- dozens of forms of Boga/Bogi/Bogu, for example... It was very enlightening.
Amazing video😊. My grandmother was slovene. She taught me the language ( the way she spoke). Than I attended bilingual elementary school ( italian/slovene) near Trieste. As a family on sundays we used to go on small excursion in Slovenia. Usually on the sea side ( Portorož, Izola etc) or to the woods in Karst. I remember once we visited Ljubljana. ( I was about 8 or 9 ). My father asked me to translate him what people said. I realized that it was very hard for me to understand the way people speak in the capital. It's so different from the coast😱😱😱. I was so embarrassed 😂😂😂
@giovannasaletu....yes, I know what you mean. In Ljubljana, they consider themselves to be upper-class Slovenians. They have their own language called 'ljubljanscina', incomprehensible to the rest of Slovenians.
What a shame. Regards from a Slavic Canadian.
LOL i was ready to fight you just by reading the heading..
i'm coming this october eh!
Is this an old video, or did you get the year wrong in the Bee comment. ???
i have 1 question how much our i need to drive out from New york to visit nature for freedom. in Slovenia i need maybe 10-20 minutes with car from ljubljana the capital to nature. Every body can come to slovenia.
I go to matelkova whenever I'm there. My gf was born in ljubljana so I go every year with her.
🙂Slovenian coast od indeed short but not 26 but 48km.
About 5 min by car!
Very funny! We finally got to visit Slovenia last summer and really loved it.
If you cannot drive a car unless it has an automatic transmission to do the shifting for you, Can you rent one in Slovenia?
You can rent pretty much any car you could think of
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂,...we are not Ethiopia-i bet you can rent here more diferent cars than in your country ;) ....ohhhh, almost forget, we have only 3 fingers 😇😇😁😁😁🤣😂

I like how you skipped the part that the tallest building in Europe is in Moscow, Russia.
I am slovenian and I am happy with our contry. There are so many beutiful forests and I recomand to visit Slovenia.
Imejte lep dan=have a good day.
First u say come to Slovenia then you say stay away from Slovenia, then you say come back to Slovenia then you say run away from Slovenia. I yam confused.
Women are hard to understand, impossible at times. That's all.😂

It's true about language, it's impossible! hahha
Sincere regards from Argentina!
You forgot the main reason not to visit Slovenia 🇸🇮 Barbara is not in the country but away on another traveling adventure.
I agree with picking up trash. Leave no trace is a good overall philosophy.
Heyy What should we do on a Rainy day in Ljubljana?
Visit one of the many caves in the country.
I have to admit you really managed to pull my leg with the title of this video 😁 Found it among my RUclips recommendations today and thought, "What the heck - why would anyone in the world warn other people against visiting Slovenia?" - from my own experience a country with quaint old towns and cities, a really fantastic, magnificent nature and very nice and friendly people. Well, by way of checking what the "reasons" for the warning might be, I learned a number of new interesting things about Slovenia (about bee-keeping, for example) and was pleasantly reminded of what a beautiful country it is. Thanks!
Title is bait.
#7 As a native English speaker, I am used to a complicated language with plenty of synonyms.
