Inspiring to see someone bring the DIY to such a high level. How much foam mixture do you need for one pour? And how much would you estimate for a big mal/longboard, if you were to make a mold like this for bigger blanks?

Thanks for the comment. This mold has a volume of about 28 liters, so about 1 cubic foot. So if i use 3lbs per cubic ft density foam, i need 3lbs of mix liquid. For an 84liter longboard you would need 9 lbs of that same liquid mix. here is where i bought the foam: www.uscomposites.com/foam.html .

Amazing bro! I am a moroccan shaper and here we are struggling so much to get blanks so of course i was thinking about creating mines, would you mind sharing the composition of the mixture you use to pour in the mold? Thanks man amazing work!

Cool, yea i know the struggle of getting blanks. Im using 3lbs density Two parts urethane foam, ordered from UScomposites.com. I add Alumite white pigment to Part A before mixing to part B to make the blanks more white. I hope this helps, Best of Luck!

@@HANDIY I'm guessing you know already that surfboard blanks are made from phenolic foam, and not polyeurethane foam, as you are using. The properties of polyeurothane you are using is inferior to the phenolic formulaes used in the surfboard industry. Cheers

Amazing work! Thank you for sharing, what is the exact polyurethane chemicals to use and make it look white with the right density?

Thats the ultimate question. I'm still experimenting. I'm currently using 3lb density foam from uscomposites.com, the quantity will depend on the size of the mold. As long as you put enough foam mix to fill the cavity in the mold, you should have good results. There are no color pigments in that video, but now i add titanium dioxide to the mix and makes the blank almost white. Still not UV stable though.

hello! Does the third try include stringers? Did you cut the foam in half after shaping and add stringers?

I see the stringer in #3. Nice work. What did you make the cast out of? It's so close to the final shape I wonder if you even used a planer?
