Personal opinion, but honestly Yoshida isn't even the worst contract on the Red Sox nor the worst contract in baseball. He is a decent hitter, sure his defense is rough, but left field in fenway is a tough spot cause of the wall. It's only his first year in the league. I honestly don't think he has a bad contract.
It’s why I had him at 11. I don’t think he’ll end up bad but as of right now Red Sox invested a lot of money for only 0.6 war. He needs to do more this year to justify it!
Devers is the worst contract. 300mil for a bad defender and great but not elite bat is getting superstar money? lol his best season isn’t anywhere near other 300mil players
This is the first time I’ve watched one of your videos. And had to subscribe. Cant wait to watch you grow on this platform. Keep up the great work bro❤
Great video. One thought I had was Trevor story is currently more of a question than yoshida. Yoshidas already done more in one than story in two. Haven’t seen the rest of the video yet though so I could be wrong about your rankings!
Hey nice list! Did you consider George Springer on there.. still provides some owar, but seems on decline year over year and injuries feel inevitable, even after the move to right field. Heh maybe it’s just me being mad at him for his performance :)
I would have put sale over yoshida in a heartbeat. Especially with yoshi only having one year in the majors, he showed so much promise batting .312 before the break and just getting tired. I’d he becomes full time dh (which all signs point to) 90m is not bad at all for him. Especially if he gets us Yamamoto. Then looking at someone like sale can’t stay healthy for the life of him. I think defense is something that can be turned around as well, way after than batting. I’m also biased cause i bought his jersey :).
Great video a few I don’t agree with but still really good you deserve more subs and I’ll give one myself robbie ray I feel like could be a candidate for this list not only are his numbers way down but he is coming off an injury too
I thought you were spot on with the list. I can't believe some Cubs fans were still saying last season they should have never let Bryant and Baez go. Good content.
The White Sox didn’t resign him because he only pitched a full effective season his contract year which is why he was only able to sign the short term deal with the Giants. He had a great season with SF opting out for the Bag from the New York fools.
Strasburg and Rendon.......both were given deals after having monster years with the Nationals. It's crazy that the injury bug has sidelined those two for so long. Another reason why the Angels were not going to even try to extend Ohtani.....Rendon's contract. One other thing.....over the past couple decades we've seen teams paying ridiculous posting fees for (mostly) Japanese players then giving MLB unproven players 20M/year contracts. That's bad business decision I'm a Padres fan and while our Korean player has steadily improved and adapted to MLB pitching (and plays stellar defense)......he is entering his 4th season and there were growing pains.
Yankee fan here. Rodon better get his sh** together and Stanton is just a cancer on this team. Rodon I have hopes for but Stanton needs to go. If I were him I'd retire. Why would you want to get booed and hated everyday. Get out while you have some respect left...damn. Judge and Soto mean nothing when Stanton is making everyone sick.
Strasberg retired because of injury, now the Nationals front office didn't insure the contract so they are still on the hook for the remainder of the deal. This deal turned bad because the Nats were lazy and didn't do their job
Very informative and great presentation you do. 👍 Exorbitant is a painful word, but it does make me laugh sometimes in regards to some of these contracts Scott boras has Strasburg Rendon Bryant as clients of his n he also gets angry 😤 when teams decide to tank sometimes. Go cheap sometimes because some of his clients are a reason to tank keuchel ellsbury
This list is pretty spot on which is why im glad my Phillies will probably not sign Yamamoto, I think its absurd to give someone a 10 year deal that has yet to throw a pitch in the most demanding league in baseball!
I'm curious to hear about your thoughts of the Avisail Garcia contract for the Miami Marlins. Personally, I didn't like his signing from the moment it happened (they had a glut of corner outfield players at the time of signing him, he was going to be just another corner outfielder), and that was before I learned about his free-swinging ways. He was basically Javier Baez but in RF and isn't as good defensively. This is a 4 year $53 million contract for the already-frugal Marlins, by the way.
It is safe to say that any player on the White Sox could make the cut for this video. Even if it’s only a 2 year contract for $75,000 per year (you get the point).
...this was pretty stunning. Haven't been a hardcore fan for a while. Hell, as a Twins fan I was actually more pissed at the prospect of paying Correa 35 mil per as he appears to be entering his ham-and-egger years than I was at the Buxton contractt. Why? 'Cause Twins fans just completley love Buxton, or did (think that IS changing over the last season or so). Not a reason, but the truth...
How do you stay in the line up with a zero war in Chicago? Having a big goose egg in that stat is almost worse than a - # in that spot. I think I’d rather suck than be meh 😂.
anyone who thinks Gian Carlo Stanton is bad is watching the rest of the lineup around him too much because he is still a great player and is VERY FEARED by the league. If he stays healthy he gets hot and hits every ball at no less than 110MPH so there is no way he is bad if hes getting that much contact on every ball. Yeah it would be nice for him to cost less but the man is well worth the money when hes not having a hitless streak. And hes an above average outfielder when hes allowed to be in the field but they dont wana risk him getting hurt due to his contract value.Hes my favorite player on the team and im very glad hes got a no trade clause and will be staying on the team until he retires!
Look up Stanton's post season numbers, compare that to others on the team, and then tell me it's a bad contract. He hits when it matters the most. He's said from day 1 that hes a better player when he plays the field - when you DH and have a bad day at the plate, thats all you think about - when you have a bad hitting day but still make plays in the field it feels like you at least contributed - more injuries from less motion sitting on the bench - many DH players have said the same. Does Stanton need to pick it up during the regular season? Yes. Is he overpaid? No. If Stanton has a bad contract then so does Judge and many other players. You can hit .400 with 70 homeruns 150rbi every year but if you struggle in the playoffs when it matters most, you aren't worth sh$$.
I had all of the recent SS signings on my initial list but it’s so early in the deals and they just had a productive season so felt like it was premature to do it! But if they decline next year he will be!
Surprised no Wander Franco on this list. The biggest contract is Rays history and he may never even play baseball again. Unless I’m missing something like a criminal offense being able to void the contract.
@@PaintTheBlackBaseball yeah no disrespect to Darvish because he's got the talent to be one of those guys who's good until 40 but you never wanna count on it. Good video man, watching another one of yours already
In my opinion, it feels like a cheap option to pick Strausburg as the worst contract, considering he announced his retirement due to thorastic outlet syndrome
Yeah, I knew Kris Bryant was going to appear sooner or later. Talk about robbery. The guy is a complete waste of air at this point. When he's in the lineup (infrequently) he's terrible, and it seems like every year it's a multitude of injuries. The Rockies have always been remarkably stupid when it comes to signing free agents, and this ludicrous Bryant contract is no exception.
Strasburgh will never pitch again and will most likely have limited use of his arm for the rest of his life. For the Nats the deal is worse than all the others because not only is there zero chance that he will pitch but they were not able to get insurance for the deal so they are on the hook for all of it. Of course if he officially retires that would end the deal but I really would find it unlikely that anyone would end such a deal early.
