this is literally one of the best, clearest, and crispest interpretation I've heard. Definitely one of, if not the only, favorite now.
Have you heard Thibaudet's version??
That one is my absolute favorite, actually. ^^
Evan Ottervanger yes, that was my favorite one prior to this.
This is definitely one of the best, though I can't imagine anyone topping Lipatti's recording basically ever.
Lipatti best forever.
I am head over heels in love with the beginning.
Same.
I like 1:25 :)
Wait till you get to the end. You'll be rolling all over when you hear what he does with the theme!
Ravel, my favorite!!! We need him to come and play for an upcoming season at the SPCO (StPaul Chamber Orchestra)!!!! Wow!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!
The pedal is giving so much more additional sounds to the instrument, it is not just binary (on or off), it’s everything in between! Yvonne Lefébure should be proud!
Pure joy. Ravel was a genius.
Don't allow genius to be confused with rarity. But, if you do indeed consider him a genius then you must allow for the majority of composers whose works are even archived to be labelled likewise.
@@Baummann1 STFU. Ravel was a great genius. What the fuck are you talking about?, Such nonsense. Idiotic comment. Everyone knows he was a great genius composer.
@@Baummann1 Dumb logic. If you consider 'majority of composers whose works are even archived' to be on equal footing with ravel then you really need to reassess your views. That is just plainly wrong to suggest something like that.
darren motise I don’t think you understand the point my child. If we are referring to the regular 160+ IQ genius then by no means was he unique and there were many composers with such intelligence, but if we use the term genius to refer to a genius when compared to other pre-modern composers then he was not close to the level of German and Russian composers (possibly Chopin and Liszt too) and the term should not be used lightly. If one of the strongest adjectives we use to describe Beethoven, Mozart and Bach is genius, then surely we must use the term ever more seldom to make sure that stamp of genius is only given when a composer’s music equals the best. As lovely as Ravel’s music is, it is relatively simple and uncomplicated by true ‘genius’ composer’s standards such as those already listed.
@@Baummann1 What is the standard? If you can tell. The complexity of Ravel's music is that of a genius and I am not only talking about piano solo pieces. I think you need to educate yourself on his work more. Calling his work simple is a laughable underestimation.
That was absolutely phenomenal!
indeed
always nice to see a youtuber I recognize on a random video
I was speechless watching that rapid sequence 'round 1:10..never thought piano can make such a bizarre yet crisp sound.
This is insane! This whole piece and especially 4:56 to the end has such a unique sound! I can't believe I haven't heard this piece until just now, but it just makes me love Ravel more.
Ravel rarely disappoints. He was so fastidious with his work that nothing's ever casually misplaced. Every mood (and its shifting) is so clearly nuanced. I've not known any other composer with his nuance. Chopin may be the only exception.
Vitaly Pisarenko has the most spirited interpretation of this andalucian music which I have ever had the pleasure to hear.
Russia still produces the best pianists anywhere today. An absolute brilliant communication.
Lauds to Lang Lang as well when playing Spanish music which he does marvelously. All Spanish music is very difficult to capture in spirit as it is in constant change and evolution with all extemporanous surprises everywhere.
Ron Walker he is Ukrainian pianist, not Russian btw
Ruslan Koval, some westerners would keep calling Russian everyone of Eastern European origin no matter what. So ignorant and disrespectful.
Agreed but an anomaly is the Canadian Marc Andre hamelin who's is best ever technically even better than the Russians or cziffra volodos sokolov katsaris etc
@@enderfry same thing really. Theyre all slavs
@@GlebRysanov they are really. All soviets
Oh how much practice must it have taken to play this......so perfect, such verve, such a gift God gave him. And thank you, thank you dear Vitaly, for blessing us mere mortals with your exquisite playing.
+Natalie van den Blink Wow
speak for yourself I can play this and I'm only 5
sam333 SUUUUUURE
sam333 Is that your shoe size?
Ravel will be happy if can hear you
There is something extraordinary in his splendid performance
Amazing interpretation! I'm sure Ravel would be proud.
Bravo! I would travel a long way to hear you play this live.
Awesome touch, technique and vivid imagination.
This is peak piano playing. Just everything about this dude's performance is utterly perfect down to the minute sonorities of each note. Like... It just can't possibly get any more perfect than this
This song is always in the back of my head. So good.
"Ach du lieber, mein schatz"!!! I don't believe I just saw & heard this, but I did!!!!! It's beyond the human marvel! What joy it must be to "master" such music & play it with such "reckless abandon"! Ya, "gifs goot feelingk"!!!!!
Damn this dude got some serious skills. had a period of Debussy now its time for some Ravel.
For me, it's always Ravel who precedes Debussy. As they say - it's a preference!
@@dextertay461 No they are both good.. your preference.
Just self learning this piece, love it
I love this piece, and your performance was perfect! Thanks!
Enchanting performance. Bravo!!
Stunning. Perfection!
Sublime, the best one I've heard so far.
What the hell! You inspire me so much, this is so surreal! Wow!!!!!
Perfect, brilliant!!!!
unbelievably wonderful
Powerful exciting performance. Bravo!
BRAVOOOO ! I'm in love!!
Amazing piece by Maurice Ravel and amazing performance by you, Vitaly!
Wonderful. I love this piece, enchanting performance Vitaly.
Amazing!
Effortlessly masterful performance! Astonishing!
Wow !!! He played so good.
Gosh this is the best ver on RUclips the beginning couple of notes already makes this ver the best...
so nice !
제일 좋아하는 라벨 연주영상 중 하나입니다 :)One of my favorite plays of Ravel !
this is so refined!
¡Bravo!
I like this performance more than any orchestral version I've heard. His technique on the piano is phenomenal.
This playing makes sense
Very inspiring!
There are not enough superlatives to heap on Mr. Pisarenko for this performance -- simply sublime, and even that fine word doesn't do it the justice it deserves.
Fantastic
This is on a completely different level from everything else I've ever listened to.
Then you haven't listened to Lipatti or deLarrocha.
Mesmerizing indeed...
God bless this dude
Logra excelentes coloraturas y un ambiente netamente impresionista
Técnica brillante
Me gusta
This performance was refined and detailed.
Well done!
my favourite part from miroirs. well done sir!!
Great job, dude
Quel artiste !
very smooth❗️
Bravo
C’est une musique aussi belle et mystérieuse au piano qu’à l’orchestre. Un énième chef d’oeuvre ravélien. Bravo au pianiste aussi !
Bravoooo
wow so beautiful
Ich habe die Glissandi nie so gut gespielt gehört wie hier.
superbe.
I've been learning this piece and the most insane thing to me is the one hand playing the same note quickly and staccato. Like the G# near the beginning. I love the beginning a lot. It's very beautiful and could be romantic if there wasn't quite so much of those tense chords
How hard is it?
@@SD-vb7kc in order to do it you have to use multiple fingers such as 3-2-1 (middle, index, thumb) in quick succession on the same key. Not only is it difficult to hit the same spot with the same velocity every time, if you press the key down for a split second too long, the key won't have time to fully lift back up before you have to press it down again, resulting in a dropped note. It's a truly impressive thing when it's played well
Excellent - I just wish the 360p recording quality offered was of a higher end
Bravo! 👌🏻
Good
une interprétation absolument magnifique, archi bravo Mr Pisarenko
This was so well played. I’d never heard this piece before. If our mental states could be turned into music, this work would be the sound of a truly unhinged, perhaps demented, mind. It’s an amazing song!
It's not a song
@@epicbottleflips5032 Yes it is.
@Maurice Ravel I’ve been a musician since I was 5. It’s also a song. Spare me.
@Maurice Ravel 🙄 please get a life
Ugh the runs and sixteenth note triplets kill me!!!
Well done though. It was great.
молодец!
좋다..
Unbelievable glissando👍
This is my goal to be able to learn and play. Also listen to Chenyin Li's performance of this song.
I swear the melody in the beginning is on a video
That glissandos
Your performance of this piece is excellent ! it sounds with brio, and that's the point! Maybe the middle part needs to be a little more magical to be perfect. Bravo again for this performance.
+Franck Petitnicolas what do you mean magical??
+Bennaars Ongidi learn english
Clarity is clear like water
Out of the great pianists of our time, he is right up there with Martha Argerich. Love his smooth, clean style.
良い手だなあ
これはうまい
I would
5:12
Richter's performance appears faint and flawed compared to this one. Of course the quality of the recording and piano have their fair share in this but the lion part is Mr. Pisarenko's incredible skill and musicality.Thank you so much!
el gracioso xd
Is the 5:12's glissando possible with first and third finger? Cool.
It's best with 2-4. It's what Ravel used and it works well.
Personally, I do 2-4 up, 3-1 down
@@534DaHill me too

I am playing this song but I don't know how to get the quick repeated notes. Help anyone?
The quick repeated notes have to be played with different fingers of the same hand.
Find the pattern that works best for you, but keep in mind that the piano's action has to be right. Never attempt this on an unmaintained, or poorly-built instrument. I settled on 4-3-2 at the beginning, switching to 1--3-2 when the melody starts to move again, so I had fingers free to play the melody points. But that's me, and my hands. It ain't a cakewalk, but so satisfying!

Where can i find the sheet music for Piano
literally just google it jesus christo
Here: imslp.org/wiki/Miroirs_(Ravel,_Maurice)
If this link does not work (because the first time you have to agree that it does not infringe the copyright law in your country) just go to IMSLP Petrucci Music Library and you will find it in "Miroirs" of Ravel ... Cheers.
+Jean-François “乐聪” Pigeolet Thank you very much I'm looking forward to play this piece
Wow ! If you can play this piece it means that you are a very good pianist ! My brother played the wole "Miroirs". You are welcome :) This a free access music library. ..
+Jean-François “乐聪” Pigeolet wow thats amazing in still not sure if i can but ill try my best
pretty nice Vitaly. A bit stiff here and there, but it's nice to hear someone who can handle the technical bits. Give it a little more beauty and I'll buy the record and come see you in concert.
2:27 France💋🥂
I have to congratulate anyone who can get through this piece accurately and keep it moving. It is an absolute BITCH to play, and this young man plays it very well, but it lacks some of the SPARK and sense of unbridled MERRIMENT tinged with a msterious aura of PATHOS I've heard in one or to other recordings.
Excellent I played this at high school.just a tip Vitaly I found in bars 145-147 a lighter touch is required for the effects ravel wanted. It's almost a ghostly spectre entering and then Swiftly exiting
it's apeace ofcake
I can't play the damned repeated triplets help
The recipe for that: make sure your shoulders, elbow and wrists are relaxed. Arm is hanging (!) from the shoulder. The wirsts are floating like it would be under water. Use a logical fingering, sloooowly articulating the fingers from the knuckle joint (without forcing!). Results won't come overnight. Try doing this in chunks- 10 minutes/unity, then resting a little bit, for a week. Feel at ease with each note.
Hope it helps!
ahhhh the asian anthem
a rather strange interpretation
The repeated notes …. how on earth…
Damn. Those glissandos are mint. But this is in fact not the most clear performance I have heard. It has a substantial number of mistakes. They are kind of all over the place.
Am i the only here because of Taiko no Tatsujin ?
