I applied the Glaco last night. Is it wrong that I'm massively exited that it's absolutely peeing it down right now. This is gona be the best journey to work ever. 😂
Great tips john!! i messed up today i done my glaco compound and sealant today and finished with circular motions and buffed with a dry nap towel and i can still see the circular motion and haze on the glass when i was driving 🤬 if i saw your video i would of gained those tips of finishing on straight motion and use a slightly damp cloth to buff off 😑 atleast i now know for next time thank to you video 😅👍🏾
I´ve applied the Glaco onto my car windshield ...first washed it, then clayed it, then used the Glaco DX to make the glass smooth and finally the Glaco Ultra coating. It holds up great, it survived the winter and you don´t need wipers, when driving over 70 km/h (50 mph). And I may add, that you also want to buy the De Cleaner. I´m using it to wash the coated windshield, it cleans very well, leaves nothing behind and "revives" the coat. Soft99 guys did their magic again with this line!
I applied the glaco ultra 4 months ago and use the glaco de cleaner to boost the protection from time to time. Very satisfied so far. Great hydrophobicity, no wiper jutter. Very good product.
My MK7 Golf seems to hate windscreen sealent. Done all the prep, clay barred, compounded using Glaco Compound, and sealed using the Glaco Ultra (cured for 12h). I have Bosch wipers - not old and are cleaned regularly but still get wiper judder :(
Me too. I did entire process twice and same wiper judder. It is brand new Tesla model Y. I will try one more time when weather gets warmer. And just it. Clean up and without any product if I get the third time wiper judder.
add some product to the blade of the windscreen wiper. Then both your wiper and the glass have the same product on it. That stopped the initial judder I was getting.
@LSD04 I've heard the sloping angle does influence wiper judder. E.g. on glass with little slopw (Land Rover Defenders) - judder is less of an issue. Maybe a VW thing?
I dont think you need to but you can, and Im sure I may well of done this too. I think the compound will also degrease. So best thing is to rinse off the compound and the towel dry the glass till its bone dry mate.
Turtle Wax ClearVue RainClear is cheap, easy to apply, long lasting and quite “wiper-resistant”. Also I havent had any judder with this one. By far the best product I have tried so far.
I bought the bigger glaco bottle and machine polished the front windscreen before applying it on there. Drove once back in the heavy rain on the motorway and didn't need to use the wipers with how much water was repelling off. Applied it to the side and rear glass and noticed it reduced frost buildup in the cold mornings when compared to other cars
I’ve been using this since one of your previous videos of the product(s) I’ve used the Ultra and the XL. I prefer the XL as it works at lower speeds. I can drive to work and back quite easily and safely without using my wipers. Winner product and I wouldn’t be without it 😎
Hey John. Great video. Have used this stuff in the past and wasnt impressed. I will follow your step by step instructions and try again. Any chance you could do a similar video for cleaning the interior of the windshield. Have a two year old car and can still see the sucker marks on the windscreen from when the robot held the windscreen in place when in the factory. Have tried loads of products and it will not shift. Thanks in advance.
A very informative video John, would using bilt hamber touch less snow foam harm or reduce the life or performance of the ultra coating, i only ask because i just ordered some after watching you video, thanks John keep the vids coming CHEERS..
Great video Jon.......I've used rain-x for years as I wash my van every week and it's so cheap. I've been thinking of a sealant for a while and I thought sod it, just buy it and try it!!! .......Will I be back with the rain x after a few month's? I can't see it! £20.99 on Amazon for compand cleaner and the dx
Help. When you first reviewed this glass cleaner I bought it straight away. I meticulously followed the instructions and then I had a nightmare with streaky glass. It is now unused in a cupboard. What could have happened? Much respect for all of your content and advice. I have become a(n) (obsessive) detailer and take great pride in looking after my 992.
Like others who have commented here, have tried these products several times on my car windscreen and still got horrendous wiper judder, despite thoroughly prepping the glass and applying the sealant to the wiper blades. I ended up removing the sealant with the Glaco compound and no more issues with wiper judder. Such a shame as wanted to use these products regularly.
Nice video.. question : my windshield is protected with a ppf, is there any issue using the compound ? Heard it gets a lot of water spot on the ppf after rinsing it
This is a product you really want to be using during the wetter winter months. Problem being DX does not adhere well (for me) below 10 Celsius, and it only lasts 3 months. So my December application was a failure. It does say this on the website, but who reads that nonsense 😅 Anyways, its a great product when functioning properly.
Agree here. I applye it in 7°C and couldn't wipe it off after 5 minutes with dump microfiber. But had exactly the same with gyeon quick view. I did wipe it after about 3 mins with glass cleaner carpro clarify and finally was OK.
Bit late to this one. If you're going to rinse glass polish off (which is usually abrasive) get your wipers off the windscreen first before rinsing. If any of the abrasive gets trapped on the wipers then it's going to put those annoying wiper scratches straight back onto your lovingly cleaned and protected windows the first time that it rains.
I’m keen to find a way to deal with the rear window glass. I have to drive on a gravel road to get to my house and obviously it gets super dusty, covering everything. The problem is that if there’s a bit of drizzle, or even dew overnight, it’s not enough to wash the dust off and it just turns to a thin film of mud or splotches, making visibility out the back difficult, particularly at night when manoeuvring, or if the sun is low. Any ideas?
Only gripe on these is that they don't quite fit to coat the front low corner of side glass, since they hit the mirror housings. Was very surprised on the durability of DX
Does this leave a haze when the wipers are on? Used rain-x for the first time today and with wipers on it leaves a haze which clears after a moment only to return when wipers run again
yea, due to the silicone chemical applies to any product with silicone and silicone wipers as well but I still use it, it is day and night difference with and without any coating.
After i use rain-x and its dry dry, i go over it with invisible glass cleaner to get that invisible “smeary” look of rain-x gone that u can also see at night under the lights of the street. Works good so far. :)
Man I used Aquapel and the performance was so bad. I bought a real one to, I wonder if because my windshield isn't as new that's why it's difficult to make it work? Want to try this but not waste my money before knowing

Hydrophobicity was not good. But I think durability wise it was good. No glass sealant will use wax because it will typically increase friction with the rubber wiper blades, wax also does not bond so it will get stripped off the glass by the wipers rapidly and wax does not leave a film which is optically sound.
Don’t do what I did, and apply it in cold conditions (approx 2-3 c)… it wouldn’t cure and I was left in wiper judder town. I’ll be trying again in the spring.

I'm going to post a comment based on experience, take from it what you will. This is a terrible product for the windscreen, and I would even go as far as to say it a safety issue. A majority of everyone driving, and I don't care who you are, is less than 50mph. This is where it's a problem. When it rains at these speeds, you have to use your wipers, regardless if its mist of lashing down. At night, when it's raining, you will have no choice but to use your wipers, especially when lights of another road user are coming towards you. Outside of a built up area where there are no streetlights, it's critical. When you use your wipers, it will leave a white smear across your windscreen for about 2 seconds. While that white film/streak is there, your view of the road is very hindered. Also, it lasts a long time, even longer when the product appears to not perform great or even go away. On a positive note. This is a fantastic product on the side and rear window as they are not affected by wipers.
Ever had the streaking problem Yet this isn’t a product that magically clears rain away. It’s just another sealant product like every other product they want our money from. It’s helps with cleaning process. It does have a great effect when not using wipers or in between from the beading. It looks cool? lol. I can’t say with this product but the kamikazi product puts like a bluish tint on the glass or hazing which looks amazing when parked. Again. It’s like any product. It’s not magic. But everything stacked is why derailed cars look amazingly better then 99.9% of cars on the road
This stuff works but not a whole lot better than Rainx. My wipers have started chattering after a few weeks just like Rainx does, so not very impressed.
Why? It is amazing on the windscreen, it makes things so clear in bad weather. The difference is night and day, it's comparative to standard definition and HD.
That’s rather strange? It’s not designed for the side windows. It’s amazing on the windscreen and I wouldn’t be without it. I re coated my screen a couple of weeks ago, great product.
@ItsMeYourRealDad . I don't like it on my windscreen either. I think some cars have an issue with the actual wiper mechanism as I always get big guddering. It's been applied correctly with brand new wiper blades but the problem doesn't go away until I remove it.
I really wanted to like this but unfortunately I don’t think the longevity was that great,I do drive everyday and I think it only really lasted for a couple of weeks First few days were brilliant
Not sure why you feel so bad about Glaco. For me, it's been brilliant. The compound has got rid of the oily, grease, difficult to remove film or oil, that my Autoglym polish failed to do. The glass sealant has been better than any glass sealant I've used. Did my car in October 2023, and 4 months later, the beading is as good as in October. My windscreen and side glass have never been as clear. I am tempted to try the new Bilt Hamber glass cleaner, but I've loads of the Soft 99 glass cleaner left. I also use their products on my house windows, to great effect. The smearing might be because of your wipers and the cold weather. Wipers need cleaning as well, or new ones. Soft 99/Glaco compound and glass cleaner/sealant, are my go-to products, not used anything better. I use my wipers less and less, no need, the wind blows the water mist on the glass away. I highly recommend Glaco/Soft99.
@@theflash4956 This person probably didn't even prep the glass. Just applied it on dirty clogged up glass and then complain about the products not working
@@soapa4279actually I did the prep EXACTLY as the instructions said. All products that “bead water” will smear when the rain is light and your speed is low. Shocking at night, AND my wipers were replaced recently and were clean! It works on all the other glass really well but terrible on the windscreen!
@@markcourtney7251 I get this same issue, no idea how to fix it. Tried polishing, clay, cleaning but doesn't work still get the ghosting/smearing but fades like steam after few seconds.
Why do you keep pronouncing it that way? It's "Glasso", like Brasso; the Japanese pronunciation of the English word , glass. Good vid. Great channel. Thanks for the info and entertainment.
No... The Japanese is 「ガラコ」, katakana is used for foreign/loan words. In romaji "ga ra ko". Search that katakana on youtube (without the quotes「」) and open any cacaca video to hear it in Japanese. (0:32 on their 4 way comparison video) A japanese ra sound is slightly between your typical "ra" and "la" sounds. it's sounds taken from the english words Glass and Coating. So it's either Ga ra ko (if you want to break into japanese mid sentence) or glaco from the starts of glass coating. You can even see how they're trying to get you to pronounce it from the acute accent. And there is no ss. gláco.
Hey John that’s the perfect shirt for a microphone mount isn’t it haha. Thanks for another great video lad!

@@markcourtney7251 ok fair enough, sorry it didn't work for you
@@markcourtney7251 I get this same issue, no idea how to fix it.
(0:32 on their 4 way comparison video)
A japanese ra sound is slightly between your typical "ra" and "la" sounds.
it's sounds taken from the english words Glass and Coating.
So it's either Ga ra ko (if you want to break into japanese mid sentence) or glaco from the starts of glass coating.
You can even see how they're trying to get you to pronounce it from the acute accent. And there is no ss.
gláco.
