Yes! Having stylish mobility aids has been so important in making me comfortable using them, even if it's just adding fun stickers to my wheelchair to add a bit of my personality. Glad to hear someone talking about fashion and disability- why shouldn't we have fun with it?

this is so real! i bought a cane recently to go with a pair of enormous platform wedge boots i own.. i definitely get weird looks when i match them but the pain is worth the look somedays XD i also added studs and chains to my rollator though i don't use that as often. customization has made me so much more comfortable as a young disabled person. thanks for the video!

I recently added a bunch of Marvel stickers to my wheelchair because I’m a huge superhero fan. I feel the same way, it shows that my mobility aid is mine and not some temporary thing. It also gets me excited to use my wheelchair because it looks so pretty!💖

@@ruby3200 that's so cool! my other cane has a bunch of sanrio stickers on it because that's my special interest. i definitely agree with you on making the mobility aid less temporary-looking. so glad that your wheelchair makes you happy!

Since using mobility aids, I have found that I feel the need to dress up a lot more than other people. And I think that's because I don't want my walker or wheelchair to be the centre of attention by being the first thing people notice

Thanks for the video! I discovered your channel just recently and I’m really grateful for your point of view! I have a disability too (I’m legally blind) and I can relate to the use of practical handbags soo much! I use a white cane for walking and have to carry my phone, sunglasses and my magnifier with me whenever I leave the house. So I need to use a practical and small crossbody bag all the time, because (as you pointed out already) I have to have free hands for using my cane. So I’m always on the look out for cute bags, that are small but large enough to fit all my stuff. It’s really hard to find a perfect bag that suits my needs because a lot of them are just a bit too small 😂

yep! that’s exactly my struggle too! I need a small bag that perfectly fits all my stuff 😂

I've followed you on Instagram for ages, but I didn't know you made videos too! I'm still fairly new to using a wheelchair in addition to my cane, so this was really helpful 😊

Thank's Elinor, great vid again 😊. I think it's very important to like the look of a mobility aid to accept it and use it with a smile. I'm waiting for my first customized wheelchair and I hope putting a nice bag under the seat, little crowns on the top of the valves and a nice cushion will help me feeling strong and brave (actually I feel frightend about using the chair). It will be silver - I wanted it minimalistic, so I could change the look with accessories.

you got this!! sounds like it’s gonna be great!
I have a playlist called “mobility aid journey” where I work on my fears and grow my confidence with aids, it might be helpful if you need some encouragement 💜

Fashion is a personal choice to make you feel good about yourself. I think styled aids can really help confidence. Well done on the vid x

I used to have a backpack on the back of my mobility scooter. Until someone stole it off the back whilst i was in the scooter.
