"Because he's droppin droppin droppin science droppin' history with a whole leap of style and intelligency. " thank you so much for the time and effort into these. Much respect.
I remember reading through the cd booklets as a kid and getting turned on to so many bands and artists like KRS and The Descendents. Then, as I grew older I would hear things like Marley songs and Afrika Baambaata and hear the the things Bradley used. It still blows my mind when people knock on covers. Bradley was the master of tastefully biting style. I just hope the next Bradley doesn't choose to use hard drugs and die young.
I'm not even mad there's no links, even though you keep telling me about them and even point them out. I just want to stop you from pointing at nothing and give you a hug. Keep up the good work sir. I second that emotion.
OMG funktual! thank you so much for these videos! they have helped me see into and understand the love that bradley had for the music that much more. Am SO greatful to you for this!
DJ Funktuall you are a god amongst men. You have no idea how much knowledge I have gained from your plethora of videos. So much of what I listen to hip-hop wise is what you've shown me. Thank you, and keep on face meltin'
OMG I could stay up all night doing this! I agreed with you all through part 1 and disagreed with you on one thing on part 2, but no, I was wrong, you were right. I love this I could do it all night long!
i love that when I was a kid I listened to Sublime a lot. Somehow I went down my own path and found a lot of bradley's sources on my own. I never stopped listening to sublime but I never researched the sources. It made me love sublime more and always mad respect to the pioneers. The specials, toots, Bob, the scientist, mikey dread and the list could go on and on. Forever love to Brad though
For those who don't know what it means for KRS-One and Waiting for my Ruca to occupy the same space of 2 inch tape: On a 24 track recorder, there are 24 recording heads, so for example 12 of those tracks can be for the instruments/vocals on one song and the other 12 for the other song. To hear one song vs the other, just mute the 12 tracks of the song you don't want to hear on playback. This is what they had to do during the mastering process. Both songs are simple which makes sense why they are the two songs that coincide. They did this to save money since tape is expensive. There is no other reason to do this.
Mind blown : Thanks for the info and entertainment Dude . Besides knowing..??..everything Bradley, I also dig the fact ..."Your funny...your a funny guy....ya know....just....the way you tell the story" . Mad skills !!!!
Funktuall's energy and passion for music is comparable to that of John Cardiel's energy and passion for skateboarding. Damn they both get me so stoked!
Great video man. I love your passion for the music. I don’t know if you covered it or not but in all you need Bradley says “no one can tell you that you got to be afraid.” From what I know about that lyric is that it is also said in Red Hot Chili Peppers Fight Like A Brave. I’m not sure if that’s what they got it from but it might be something cool to look into. Peace brother, spread the love 🤘
hey, funk i am a 17 year old hip hop prouducer and i make my tracks by sampling and your videos are verry helpful thank you for what you do and keep doin the younger kids 10-14 , need 2 know as you said " that their was a time when hip hop was so fine"
This guy is the truth!!! I love your ideas. Last night I lost another close friend to heroin RIP Kyle Zach and Bradley Knowles … Any respects that would like to be sent from one beautiful soul to another … please send to FELIXS in Dogtown, 6401 clayton Ave. St.Louis MO. 63139 memory of Kyle and Brad … Kyle turned me onto sublime with BY THE RIVERS OF BABYLON. which seem fitting, Thank you for your thoughts and prayers... Aaron...
A lot of people know he covers marley a lot. scarlet begonias is still genius cuz he brought in that funky drummer beat. He tied a Beatles and half pint song together and gave us what I got. I never knew he did that many covers but he's still as much of a lyrical genius as he is boss dj. I don't hear the ziggens influence in badfish. Don't push is original right? Garden grove. Live at e's, new song, new thrash, every other song u didn't mention... Sublime is still the shit.
dont know if anyone pointed this out but the horn in mad mad mad is also the horn in cisco kid on top of that doors piano melody. cept in cicsco kid is a lot more strung out.
The 20th century ended the music industry. It went in waves but that tide is deceased. 1962-7, 1977-82, & 1992-til the 90s ended; all other great music that wasn't in those lil spans was here & there w/ nil longevity but the music industry has been destroyed & the apex of hip-hop from 86-96 has given way to the most useless mediocrity that continues to be absorbed by the mindless youth. If they don't own vinyl they don't own music- 33&45, that's it.
at time 10:00... brother man you made my day with that sentence.. "too fuckin true" thanks for sharin the word.. kids need to know that funk n positivity gets u way more cool chicks than hating on other kids.. tellin em what the FUNKS up... great video idea u got brother..
Next great wave if music is infact on its way my funktuall brotha-and its all because of u-or u atleast get part of the inspirational credit...looking forward to the apex of funk-primary capabilities video-funkin bravo
@alerabnhoj Based on What? My taste for the band hasn't changed since gaining all this knowledge. It puts things into context and shows Bradley's love for music in general. The album is called "Robbin' the Hood"!! Am I really pulling a fast one?
We all know Funktual probably only catched only 40% of all the references across these albums. Bradley was more of a Boss DJ than a songwriter, genius.
to know that Bradley was a digger and had a love for all music and would sample countless good jams keeping their vibes alive not only make me respect bradley more it makes me wanna dig deeper into sublime, so Alerabnhoj your trippin
@funktuall or anyone who can help me out, where can I find the (original?) Na touch tha just by Just I.C.E the one online and on itunes and rhapsody isn't the one from bums lie. DO YOU HAVE THAT TRACK?
i come back to this at least once a year to remind me of the magic of bradley, thank u for spreading this love...

I've watched this numerous times throughout the years. So rad. Awesome energy. Thank you again!

I love when different artists' music can come together and can influence each other. It's all about those derivatives.
I'm not even mad there's no links, even though you keep telling me about them and even point them out. I just want to stop you from pointing at nothing and give you a hug. Keep up the good work sir. I second that emotion.

Funktuall's energy and passion for music is comparable to that of John Cardiel's energy and passion for skateboarding. Damn they both get me so stoked!

My parents are seeing Aswad in concert next weekend so it's strange that you've posted a song by them today.
Lovin' the shirt.
This guy looks like a drummer I had back in the early 2000s
A lot of people know he covers marley a lot. scarlet begonias is still genius cuz he brought in that funky drummer beat. He tied a Beatles and half pint song together and gave us what I got. I never knew he did that many covers but he's still as much of a lyrical genius as he is boss dj. I don't hear the ziggens influence in badfish. Don't push is original right? Garden grove. The 20th century ended the music industry. It went in waves but that tide is deceased. 1962-7, 1977-82, & 1992-til the 90s ended; all other great music that wasn't in those lil spans was here & there w/ nil longevity but the music industry has been destroyed & the apex of hip-hop from 86-96 has given way to the most useless mediocrity that continues to be absorbed by the mindless youth. fatwreckdsucks cisco kid uses -The doors - “5 to 1”
