Thanks for the video look around Monticello. Was born there and spent a lot of time visiting relatives there over the years. Has been many years since I've seen the place, but there doesn't seem to be too many changes. Can't tell you how many times we drove by the Sac O Suds on the way to visit grandparents. It was always good for a laugh. I first saw the movie on a flight from Atlanta to Portland, Oregon. All though the movie, I kept wondering why everything seemed so familiar to me. Wasn't until we landed and I was walking off the plane that it hit me that I was looking at pictures of my hometown. Was told that the locals dated every event in town relative to the time the film crew was there shooting. Anything notable happened either before the movie or after the movie. BTW, the Sheriff Tillman referred to at the end of the movie was actually sheriff of Jasper County at one time.
Awesome job dude. I love that you respect cinematography enough to get those really deep cuts like the abandoned white house and the barn. Places most people wouldnt think to cover. I come from a small town so for me, these little shots in movies always make me feel nostalgic. Not always the main attractions
The frame at 6:48, I remember motels like that. Strip neon all the way around the building and in the case of an L-shaped building, the ice and soda machines were in the breezeway of the L. As kids, my sister and I would race to the ice machine for the free ice and the 5 cent Cokes. You really scored big if the parents stopped at a place with a pool AND a TV!! For us, it was the early 1950s, long before Holiday Inn and the Interstate highways. Memories.
Ah, Monticello, my father’s hometown. Congratulations on pronouncing it correctly. Few buildings seem to change, only the businesses in them. There are some nice casual restaurants there.
Thank you for all the effort you put into making this video. One of the greatest comedic films ever made with such awesome actors and beautiful Americana location. Ode to sleepy little towns🎉🎉🎉
Only maybe 5 years ago did I learn about how many interior locations are actually sets. I'm kinda split about it. On one hand it's a bit of a bummer learning that they were not actual places, but on the other hand it's actually amazing as to just how great and legit they made them look.
Some places are too small for the cameras, hard to rig with lights, too noisy, or simply aren't able to get permission granted for filming. The entire cell block interior in _The Shawshank Redemption_ was a set built from scratch.
Visited last week ,Sac o Suds is back open as of May 2021. New owners re opened and fixed the place up and kept same signage. You can rent canoe from new deck on back for the river that runs behind it .
Omg, just saw this, my all time favorite movie, I just went through Monticello yesterday on my way back from Asheville NC, Also went to the sac o suds about 5-6 miles maybe more outside of town. I also went past and turned around and did the drive down the road and across the bridge into Jasper county to the Sac O Suds on the right side. The best movie ever.
Great job and well done! I can’t believe how much you not only sound like Adam but also how you produce a very similar style of video. I’m going to subscribe.
I live in Nicholson Ga and pass the remains of the hotel on Hwy 441S. Yes, I believe it burned down. Also had the pleasure of going to Monticello often when I lived in Covington. Beautiful town. Bostwick was right up the road as well. Many great memories seeing these places all in one great movie. Thank you for filming this.
Some people were mad that Jack Palance didn't win it that year for City Slickers. After watching this movie, I think she deserved it because she played such a great character and Palance in City Slickers just played a slightly tougher version of himself.
@13:59 My husband and I have been in that old house before. We stopped one day at a yards sale that was across the street at that place you show where they turned right at the barn. The house would have really been on the left hand side of that road. The man having the yards sale told us someone bought the house in the 70's and just never fixed it up. I used to dream of buying that old house and fixing it up. At one time it was a beautiful house. I haven't seen it in several years though. I don't know if it's still there or if anyone has fixed it up or not. I thought I'd share that with you. Plus I have a stepsister that lives in Bostwick GA. I'm glad I found this video. I appreciate this I drive Georgia 16 from Griffin to Monticello almost every day. The Sac of suds was the name way before the movie it was there in the late 70s and 80s we use to go there before we went to Jackson lake
My grandfather used to live in Buckhead, Ga. Not the one close to Atlanta, but the one in Morgan County, not far from Madison. Both of which are close to Edenton, Ga, the town where the General Putnam is close to. Up until his death in 1999, every month or so, my family and I would travel from Augusta, Ga, and go to church with he and his wife, and he always insisted we go to the General Putnam restaurant, for their Sunday Buffet. I don’t know if the buffet was available during the week, but they did have it on Sundays. But the counter where Vinny and Mona were eating breakfast, didn’t exist when we used to bring my Grandfather to eat there. That area was where the buffet was located. The restaurant closed up sometime between 2002-2007, not exactly sure. But the Motel was still opened for several more years after that. My husband and I stopped by there when we were on vacation one year, about 8 or 9 years ago, and the motel was still opened, but it looked like it was mostly being used by construction workers. The last time we were there was in March of 2016, and the motel had been torn down,

I have been in that house at 14:10. I went to UGA in the 80's and I thought it was a beautiful house, it was empty even then and I used to stop by and go in when I was travelling near by.
It's interesting like so many places around rural America that the railroad tracks are long gone to line no longer used but they still stand in that same intersection where the crossing signals and the train station still is
I grew up in Jasper County and went to school in Monticello. My Cousin Vinny was being filmed when I was a senior in high school. I recall after school I would drive by the filming set on the Monticello Square. If I recall correctly, the Sac-O-Suds was owned at that time by my friend’s boyfriend’s family. It has gone through multiple ownership changes over the years. As another poster mentioned, the Sheriff Tillman mentioned at the end of the movie was indeed the sheriff of Jasper County (served for 16 years). Monticello hasn’t changed much over the years. It would have been a completely different movie if Fred Gwynne had worn Herman Munster's makeup and judge's robes during his scenes. Marisa Tomei would never have kept a straight face on the stand. She was so good in that part, and so gorgeous. 😁
Nice video! My Cousin Vinny is one of my favorite movies. It came out the year after I graduated high school. I took a weekend to visit the location in Monticello a few years ago. I stayed at the Monticello Hotel. I remember the Sac-O-Suds being open. I believe it was family owned. I'm surprised to see that it is closed now, I remember when I was there, it looked like they did great business. They were selling Sac-O-Suds shirts which I bought. I have the poster hanging up in my den. I went tubing down the Ocmulgee River. It was a lot of fun. I also visited the courthouse location too. I had a great time there!
I watched this film last night. I really wanted to see where this was actually filmed. So thank you so much for this, it was brilliant. I live all the way in London uk so will never be able to go see for it myself.

I just subscribed to the channel.Great channel. I started my when COVID started and I was stuck at home and cooking. Thankful FL is open. Take care brother.
Thanks Andrew i made this one for the true fans like you
I watched this film last night. I really wanted to see where this was actually filmed. So thank you so much for this, it was brilliant. I live all the way in London uk so will never be able to go see for it myself.
You gained a subscriber! I really enjoyed your vid...THANK YOU!!!
Wahzoo, eh? There's a joke in there somewhere. My Cousin Vinny was a cute movie. You did a great job matching up these filming locations. Say hello to the tuna can for me, and you both stay safe! Thanks, Jay!
Great work! Just wondering, is the hunting cabin that Trotter lets Vinny stay in a real house, or was it just built for the movie?
Very original idea man. This is awesome. Super interesting.
Thanks my friend glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for showing the locations. Loved the movie! 😂
Hey Jay thanks! Really enjoyed this. You did a great job! You've got good timing man. I watched several of your Florida videos. A Florida boy myself but just moved to RENO. Kind of a funky place full of boring people. Anyway I think there's bigger and better things ahead for you my man. Just stay true to your style and...
THINK BIG!!!
Absolutely love your videos. Great to see the actual locations.
Thank you Michael
Has anyone ever told you that you sound a lot like Adamthewoo? You could be a voice stand in for him lol. Great vid, I'm going to go check the rest of your vids now.
I drove by the Sac-o-suds a year ago and it was open. Covid probably closed it down.
One of the owners fell into a drug problem which led to the sale of the store.
The very end shot when the credits start rolling is on highway 142 going towards Eatonton.
so cool that you do this. Very impressive!
Thank you my friend
I'm from Georgia but haven't lived there in almost 50 years now. Some of those shots you show remind me of just how it looked.
