    Just wanted to say, this is one of the most informative videos regarding the 40 watt that i've seen. I'm on the fence about purchasing one but a lot of videos just don't go too into detail and they speed up a lot of the videos without including information stating how long something took too complete.

    Another great job. What a great machine. 8 years ago I paid $16,000 for a 40 Watt Universal Laser. These things have come a long way,

    Nice and in depth video. I just ordered one of the D1 Pro 40W with the accessories yesterday. I'm new to engraving so I wanted to go with a nice and useful machine.

    I recently purchased the D1 Pro 40W and as a backup a 20watt, with the air assist, enclosure, the fire system, RA2 Pro, and the extension kit for the normal size and the extension kit. Since I'm new to the engraving, I wanted to get a machine that I could grow into and have everything I would need.
    This thing is a BEAST so far!

    Should rename it to the Binford 4200 laser engraver... Great review, almost ready to pull the trigger and get into this lasering stuff. I have a few questions, how do you ensure the item is square and centered before lasering? Is there something on the laser to align it to the item being lasered?

    I'd be interested to know what the suggested lifetime of the laser diodes are? At $1K a pop for the 40W, you wouldn't want to be replacing them every year (like a Chinese DC laser). An RF CO2 laser (say a Universal Laser unit) is around £2k here and mine has lasted 10 years - used nearly every day.

    Great comprehensive video. I appreciate it. You've tested the Atomstack 20 and now the xtool. I realize you tested the 40 watt version of the Xtool, but given what you know, now which one would you recommend?

    • @Neo7CNC
      @Neo7CNC  Год назад

      I hate to pick favorites but it's hard to ignore the pedigree of the xTool D1. The 40w is built on a solid, proven foundation and it is my current "go to" machine.

    I'm somewhat confused af to how these things work. One should think that the actual power correlates to the spot size, in which case, at least on paper, the atezr v35 is far superior, in terms of power. Any comments on that?

    Thank you for a great, comprehensive video. Do you need to download a new configuration file for lightburn or adjust any settings?

    • @Neo7CNC

      Yes. There is a xTool D1 Pro config on their website.

    • @genxvisual

      @@Neo7CNC , did you have to set a different line interval or overscan setting? I’m having terrible lines in my metal engravings on powder coat tumblers which aren’t there in XCS. I used the v3 downloaded settings files and tried .15 and .1 for the line interval (based on spot size).

    Great vedio....!!
    Need advice. I want to do "only" marketry . 1/16" hardwood veneer is the thickest wood to cut. Is this machine all I need? Or would I do better with a CO2 laser?
    So appreciate yours and others advice!!
    Thanks
    just jim

      After getting my hands on the xTool P2 CO2 laser I'd go that route if it was for business because of its ease of use and features. Very predictable results and cutting thin wood is a sweet spot for CO2 machines. Having a machine that's enclosed where you can manage the fumes is also a huge benefit.

    I got the 10W, so I can cut and engrave from the start, with the idea of getting the 40W in the future. The 5W is too underpowered for cutting and the 20W was too expensive to start with.

    I make wooden baseball bats. I was wondering if you think this would be a good machine for engraving the barrel of baseball bats? Some bats are as long as 34” but only are engraved around 5 inches long on the barrel. If this wouldn’t work, do you have any CNC recommendations for me?
    Thanks

    • @Neo7CNC
      @Neo7CNC  Год назад

      Though I haven't tried this specific use, I don't see why it wouldn't work as long as you have enough table or bench space to support the handle of the bat with the adjustable roller stand.

    hello, that was a great review. I may buy this machine for a semi/professionnal job and i wonder if there is a upgrade kit for the lenght of the machine. I plan more on cutting wood in big dimension (maybe from 2060cm or 723 inches) and don't want and need a CO2 laser technologie. Well i plan on buying a kit of everything and making a case myself. Do you think if i go for a 3000$, it should be ok to have everything, it is worth it ?

    • @Neo7CNC
      @Neo7CNC  Год назад +1

      xTool does have a kit that will expand the machine 930x430. xTool makes a great product. They are the top of all the machines I've tested so far.

    But you also need stronger motor to drive the heavier laser head, because even if you can run it faster, the motors are weak for that laser head

    I upgraded my laser to the 40W. I have an issue that I am not sure how to resolve. I have the enclosure and when using the RA 2 for tumblers my air assist is bent from the enclosure lid. I work inside my home so I must have the enclosure. Any suggestions?

      You can lower the settings or turn it off in xtools software. Open the software and connect the laser. Open xtools software. In the upper right hand corner click the gear icon for the lasers settings. Then click “working parameters.

      @Super Glide Steve I'll double check tho n makes sure I didn't miss something. Might even look into covering the sensor... besides that I really like the setup. Xtool did a overall good job
