- Star Trek science consultant Dr. Mohamed Noor teams up with Star Trek actress Jayne Brook (Admiral Katrina Cornwell in Discovery seasons 1-2) to launch this new mini-series that teaches science using Star Trek: Discovery. Videos will use on-screen depictions as springboards to teach interesting real-world biology. And videos will close with Brook's insights about acting and production, so Brook and Noor alternate taking on the role of student and teacher of their respective craft. In this short video, learn how they met, what inspired this miniseries, and what to anticipate in it-- come science with us!
Looking forward to this wonderful series with two glorious humans!
THANK YOU! I always love The 7th Rule!!!
Jayne's audio is outstanding for a home stream. She should teach all a lot of other celebs who stream on how to improve there sound quality.
I think I remember she's using a Blue Yeti Nano microphone.
I just adore this woman, her role in Discovery couldn't be more fitted for her, she commands without question or hesitation and it feels almost as real as watching a command structure live. This doesn't also mention she's really a looker!
Looking forward to this! I read The Physics of Star Trek and absolutely loved it! Would be great to see the science of Star Trek from a biological perspective. Also, loooove the admiral! One of my favourite characters on Discovery ❤️🖖
Awesome-- hope you enjoy! And we love the Admiral too!
Very Exciting. Looking forward to diving in.
Thank you!
This sounds so fun! Can't wait for more!
Thanks Belinda! We're excited too!
What a great opportunity! Looking forward to seeing the ways Star Trek can help public education in science.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it!
Jayne we miss you any chance you coming back? This is great!! can't wait

Great idea! I´m in!
I look forward to watching and learning from both of you on this Bio-Trek series. 🧬🧫🎬.. Thanks so much for doing this guys 💫🙌🏼
Our pleasure-- thanks for watching!
Hi Jayne and Mohamed! Looking forward to hearing about the biology and science with you both. Thank-you for taking time out of your day to do this and Happy New Year! 😊🎆🖖🏻
Our pleasure, Katie, and thank you for being awesome! Happy new year!
Thank you for putting this together. Cannot wait to see S3 through your two perspectives. Great start to 2021 and a cute for my S3 is over next week blues!
Thanks for watching! And hope you enjoy it-- we're sad Disco S3 ends so soon too-- such fun!
Very much looking forward to this. Two great things: science and behind-the-scenes Trek stories.
Thanks-- hope you enjoy it!
@@BioTrekkie Your introduction above pretty much confirmed that I would! My compliments to all of you.
Me with my headphones on saying shh, the admirals on.
Love this!
This is so exciting, looking forward to this new series 😊🖖🖖🖖
Thanks Gloria! Hope you like it!
I really enjoyed watching. 🖖🏽
Thanks Rashid!
Wow, super excited for this
This was so fun! Great editing, too! I'm looking forward to watching the series!
Thanks so much, Vegan Wanderlust! Hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
Looking forward to this!!!
Sounds like a good time. I look forward to the adventure.
I love everything about this! I'm a PhD student in a similar area of research as you (genomics, evolution, and speciation), and I spend a lot of time thinking about how to get non-scientists interested in and excited about science. So I love that you are not only a Star Trek science consultant (A DREAM!), but you're using that to teach people science. Now, I need to catch up on Discovery so I can keep watching this mini-series.
Oh wow, that's awesome! I just checked out your RUclips channel, and you have so much great content! Thank you!
Beam me up! Can’t wait!
I can't CAN'T WAIT! Time to share this all over and pack the house!
Thanks so much Scott!
I hope that this will get more people excited about science, and also dispel lots of false information circulating in the world about biological sciences.
Yay.
!
Wow, this is such a cool connection and one of these days, I gotta get Mohamed's signature on my book. Ken loves to joke about the "hot dog water" from the prosthetics. Thank you both, Jayne and Mohamed, for giving me something interesting to look forward to in 2021!!

@@BioTrekkie Back at you, Brother!
I am here for all of this!!
Welcome, Yvette! Hope you enjoy it! Thanks for being here!
Happy New Year! Hope after Discovery there will be plenty of other Star Trek for you to dive in. Looking forward to it :)
Happy new year to you, too, and thanks! We shall see what happens next! :-)
Wow! I was at that DragonCon panel. I never knew that's where you two met. Very, very cool. Here's to hoping we get back to a IRL DragonCon in 2021 and have the chance to see you again!
Awesome you were there too! And indeed, fingers crossed for safe in-person conventions soon! 🖖
Also, now I have to know what on earth a gang boss does. lol
Same !!
Great!
Been waiting for you guys
Thanks! We shall see what the future brings! 🖖
Great stuff!!
Thanks Jake!
I hope Jayne is gonna mention Chicago Hope :)
Thank you! NC in the house!
Yay NC!
Oh no! I'm totally behind on the series, haven't watched any of season 3 at all yet! (Blame 2020!) The urgency to get caught up is now even greater! (The temptation is there to watch your episodes, but I can't be having spoilers.)
What’s ironic is how poor current Trek is on science...
making up ridiculous premises that not only wouldn’t have ever been mentioned in Trek, but are done so piss poor that it’s laughable.
So sure, make a “science show.”
This stuff is laughable.
Hey did i ask
No different from any of the older Treks. And I loved them all anyway. If you think current Trek stands out, you must be viewing it through a DISCO-hating lens. Try viewing those old episodes and looking at the science honestly.
But for me (also a biologist), critiquing the science in the show is all just part of the fun. It's certainly a perfectly good excuse to make a science show!
