The glee and excitement in her face was everything! Whoopi never smiles that much on this show lol
I mean sitting at a table across from Meghan "My father" McCain, would you?
I haven't seen her smile like that in years.
full joy!
She is an actor so all smoke and mirrors
Another time: ruclips.net/video/cfk0AUvQEaU/видео.html
You know you made a lasting impression with Sir Patrick Stewart when he personally asks you to join him on his show. So happy for Whoopi
The funny thing is, Patrick would recognize her in real life as the better performer. She's the first EGOT winner as a woman and black artist.
@Craig Gibbons she won an EGOT, she is literally one of the greatest actors of stage and screen.
It’s Alex’s show not Sir Patrick’s
@Craig Gibbons Did you forget her Academy Award win?
In an TV Guide interview for Star Trek's 25th anniversary,Patrick Stewart admitted that he wasn't sure what Whoopi would do after TNG ended, not because she didn't have any career prospects but because she was so talented and multifaceted that her horizons were limitless.
I finally want the issue between The Q and Guinan to be resolved.
And Q will be in the second season
@@Mxyzptlksac I just found that out last night!! I can’t wait!!

She had that Celie smile
YESSSSSSSSSSS
lmao im dying
That's exactly what I thought, I started singing "sister" lol
Nothing more beautiful
She sure did
When she was at a convention she said she wanted to be in the new Star Trek. Discovery wouldn't have made sense for her, but to be with Picard again makes all the sense in the world. Congratulations Whoopi.
And as Gynun she can, because she's immortal
@Aaron Antone yes! Marina Sirtis would be awesome to see! ❤️🙏❤️ She still looks great! How cool would that be!👏🤘
Especially since Guinan and Picard have always been besties...
@@susiefairfield7218 can u imagine Guinan, Picard, Riker and Troi sitting around a Living room reminiscing over lost friends and family?!? Would be an awesome scene
I almost posted something, but realized it might be a spoiler. Those who know about the new show, let's not spool anyone who hasn't seen the trailers and stuff.
Whoopi's performance as Guinan elevated what was already a really interesting character to one of the best parts of the show.
I really thought Guinan was awesome
This is so beautiful when Patrick Stewart gave Whoppi Goldberg the reunion invite. I'm in tears.
Or when Adventure and Fantasy from The Pagemaster both reunite!
I absolutely love how when asked about Whoopis hair, Mr Stewart responds that she can do whatever she wants! What a gentleman! ❤️
Its funny that Joy even said that, since Whoopi (Guinan) had braids back then. So why would she take them out now? Foot in mouth lol.
I heard that too!
Pretty sure he could be labelled a racist or sexist or something if he said anything else though, right?
she can do whatever she wants as long as it fits under the fancy hats
I kind wish he said “She could always wear a Shuttle Cap(hat?).” As that’s what they call all of her hats back on set of TNG.
Star Trek was the reason why Whoopi wanted to be a actress. It was her first time seeing a black woman in space before that she thought black people didn’t live in space. This means so much to her
Gene Roddenberry always had a fondness for Black women. Like Whoopi said Guinan was the last character he created. If you look at the other shows there were no strong leading Black female characters. With the exception of Discovery.
What makes it even awesome was that Whoopi's character Guinan was only supposed to have been in for one season and that was it as the bartender/manager of Ten Forward. However because she became such good friends with the likes of Frakes, Spiner and Stewart to name a few; they insisted she stay on for the future seasons and that's what she did, even having a cameo in the Enterprise B scene in Generations.
@@GenGamesUniverse She was even in the firs TNG movie.
Black people were in Space long before there was a recessive genetic mutation race on our planet!!!!
de n I forgot about that thank you!
Patrick Stewart: “I am assembling a team...”
Whoopi Goldberg: “You son of a B, I am in!”
People who watch the View wouldn’t get the reference. You deserve more likes for that one my guy! Had me in stitches!
Hahahahahaha!!! Brilliant!
"Assembling a team?"
It was Jake Blues that first said "We're puttin' the band back together."

🙌😂😂😂😂🙌
Guinan seemed to be one of a handful of people Captain Picard held in high regard, perhaps even the one he respected the most, imho.
I could see that through the on screen chemistry between Patrick Stewart and Woopie
And you know the new season will at least be fun with Guinan AND Q!
I never understood it. Nothing against either character. She was only in a few episodes and it just wasn't explained well.
@@visceratrocar It’s because she always seemed to give the best advice exactly when people needed to hear it.
@@visceratrocar well the mistery is part of the attraction, her species being not explored and the Q even to some level fearing them. Besides that she's just very well written dialogue wise, and very well acted. When she talked to tasha, wesley, worf, picard, every character, she always gives sound sage advice. When you can enjoy a dialogue that is mostly quiet, without threats or even arguments. Combine all that with rare cameos you just get a very well liked character. Just watch back and jog your memory.
Everybody know the importance of Whoopi Goldberg in the History of Cinema. But only true trekkies feel at the bottom of the heart how awesome it will be to see Guinan back again. Chills...

@@444TRR I really don't know nothing about this "Polanski incident", nor what it has to do with her. And they way they treated Bernie Sanders really pissed me off. But what it all has to do with Guinan?
@@fernandonunes7608 Roman Poloanski is an old hollywood director who raped a 13 year old girl many years ago and ran off to Europe to hide from authorities and Whoopie defended him saying it wasn't rape because the 13 year old gave consent. Now you made me cry.....
Lul.
Big strong white guy btw. Lul.
I never realized she enjoyed being on that show that much. Nice of them to have her back.
Well, Star Trek was the reason she went into acting. She's been repeatedly cited as having cited Nichelle Nichols as her inspiration because of what that role meant at that time and moving forward
She wanted to be in Star Trek so much that she would've been happy to be a background character....But Guinan was written for her...and we are grateful for that, Guinan is one of my favourite characters
@@Mazikeen2904 Remember that she was a mega-star in the 80s? So much so that they did not believe that she wanted to be in the show, when Levar mentioned it to Gene. They actually had to meet to be convinced that she wanted in.
The sincerity and intensity on his face when he invited her was genuine. That was not for the cameras they seem to genuinely want her to appear on the show.
If Whoopi Goldberg is actually returning to Star Trek during Star Trek: Picard, I fully expect to finally get the answer as to what Q did that made her so angry with him! Just my two cents.
Oh, good memory!! I would like to know that, too!
We know that the El-Aurian homeworld was destroyed by the Borg. I have always wondered if Q had something to do with that (in a similar way to how he transported the Enterprise to Borg space to teach Picard a lesson).
I wouldn't want them to answer too much.
She was always aloof and mysterious, and that was part of what worked so well.
Picard didn't turn to her to find out the who, what, where, when, why answers, he went to her for wisdom.
More than likely Q did to Guineans people what Q did to us. Introduced us to the borg. But from what we’ve seen in the franchise they were not able to fend them off.
We have to remember, the Borg are native to the Delta Quadrant. Is Guinan’s race from that far away? And if they are, why did Voyager not encounter them? Or did the survivors make it out to the Alpha Quadrant somehow?
This was almost like a marriage proposal.
Everyone, she said "YES"!
This was classy, I think. A formal request on The View of which Whoopi was a part.
Great analogy
Eduardo Mendez guinan and jean luc? yes thank you please! best acting interplay fun i reckon! i always liked her on the show... so much fun
Probably the _only_ time I wish I'd watched an episode of The View!

She was glowing when Stewart asked her to come back. 🥰
Never thought I'd be sitting at my computer, allegedly 40 years old, and sobbing like an over-excited little boy, because one of my favourite Star Trek: TNG characters is coming back.
And, yet, here we are!
Congrats Whoopi! And welcome back, Guinan!
*Passes him the tissue box w/the Star Trek TNG Delta on it!*
When I first heard they were bringing here into TNG during the second season I was not onboard...but she and her character won me over. Although i never thought it made sense for her character to be in the alternate universe of YESTERDAY’s ENTERPRISE
When are you moving out of your parents house?
Your not alone....I CANT WAIT FOR THIS!!!!
I'm "allegedly 40" too and I found myself feeling some emotions as well. Knowing how TOS inspired her and the affinity she has for TNG, I knew that being asked to return was something important to her spirit. And it showed. You can't tell me that wasn't little Caryn Johnson smiling and weeping.
As a die-hard Trekkie, I cried tears of joy at this news. Whoopi was magnificent, iconic even as Guinan on Star Trek TNG. Sir Patrick Stewart, I just love this man. I'm looking forward to watching Picard.
Tomorrow evening at 9 pm Eastern Time. I have already set my PVR to record it.

As a huge Star Trek fan, a huge TNG fan, and a huge Patrick Stewart fan, I think 2 words describe Whoopi Goldberg’s portrayal of Guinan:- Class and Dignity.
Seeing the entire cast back together is wonderful but when Patrick invited Whoopi back, hard not to cry tears of joy!
She still has that same smile she had 20 years ago when she and Patrick were on the Arsenio Hall show. It's likes she is 13 years old all over again. Its like her face lights up whenever Patrick is around her. Amazing.
Funny you said that. I was thinking the same but I thought of The Color Purple. Haven't seen her smile like that since. Glad she's coming back.
Indeed. I adore Sir Stewart so I’d be cheesing ear to ear as well.
This seriously has me smiling like a kid. Growing up in American during the 80s and 90s was a special time. It was when we started to see ourselves represented in media regularly. Her role on Star Trek showed us a possible future where we were truly participants. So happy to see her come back.
I sort of agree with you. I've always liked Guinan's character for that reason. U'hura was really a more important character in that first series and that was in the 70s. So Star Trek had already broken ground in that sense.
He will always be gunny to me. Shi Halude
I loved the fact that her charecter had such clairvoyance that even Diana would confide in her. Man seeing her back on the show seems just right. I did wish there was more dialogue between her and Worf.
...hopefully bearing in mind of course that people of color were regularly featured on the original Trek in the 60's...
Also in Europe we grow up with this wonderfull kind of entertainment. Can't wait to see Picard, Will, Data, Guinen again!
OH MY GOD I just realised I really hope Seven doesn't die because it would be a dream come true to see Seven and Guinan meet eachother and interact. They're two of my absolute favourites!

Same here! I am sitting on pins and needles waiting for them to meet!
From its beginnings, Star Trek was a model of diversity, where everyone was respected and held to high standards.

@@davidkruse4030 thats what I liked about star trek, remember Sulu his actor was gay (the TOS one) , but the thing was if his character was gay, it quite literally would have made no almost no difference to the character,
That was indeed the whole point of the show - and a reason all the series have such staying power. I think deep down the vast majority want to believe people as a whole can be a lot better than what we are or have been.
@@davidkruse4030
Wow... It's like you never watched Star Trek at all.
Star Trek has always worn its politics on its sleeves. Always.
Yes, it often used sci-fi analogies, but the messages were never subtext.
@@JanetStarChild While it has always been progressive, it was never 'woke' in the ways of today. They were always subtle. There are many examples, but i'll use the TNG episode 'first contact': where a character from a genderless species starts to think she is female and wants a relationship with a crew member. Now in the context, is that about homosexuality or is it about transexuals? The end the character gets converted to the norm for her race and says she's happy about it, we don't actually know if that is a good thing or not, we might have thought she didn't need 'fixing' but then maybe for their people she genuinely did. It's a situation that is left open and up for debate. Today's sci-fi would have had a clear message about what it was about, they wouldn't have been 'converted' at the end or if they were, it would have been reversed after it turned out the race were evil in someway. The moral would have been beaten over our heads. Trek was show don't tell, it was philosophical. New trek tells everything in case the audience don't get it, and never leaves room for depth of thought or discussion.
The politics are the same, the execution was different. Progressive shows egalitarianism and treats everyone as normal without making a fuss about it, 'woke' belittles one type of person to elevate another and makes the differences and 'progressive' ideas more important than telling a good story with good characters. The latter often results in the opposite reaction, which is the real reason why woke is so bad as it does not achieve what it claims it wants to. People don't like being told what to think or preached to, even if they are part of the choir.
The episode where Guinan counsels Riker as they are preparing to face the Borg after assimilating Picard is one of my all-time favorites.
Guinan was better Councillor than Troi lol. XD
I love that scene, too! It was the motivating kick in the pants he needed to come up with his unorthodox plan. Yes, I know the show is not real...so what, I love it!

@@DanK123 After having seen Picard i guess no one who's sane would join this abomination of Trek
@@noizW Oh. Well......I hear ya. It's not exactly the Trek we know and love....but they needed to do something really different and challenging that got Sir Patrick involved. So even though it's not exactly what I want, I can accept it. I have many criticisms sure, but I'm also trying to see the positive and good in it. It IS creative and well done...there are just many things that make you go HUH? and that aren't quite right for the world of Trek...but now that they've got season 1 out of the way, maybe 2 will hit the ground running...with Picandroid and everybody getting right into good stuff......hoping.....I'll always watch...and hope for the best.
@@DanK123 I keep watching Discovery too. But it's not good. I don't say that "because of Kurtzman and his agenda", i say it because the stories are boring and not creative at all. And Picard was one of the worst shows i've ever seen - too many cooks. You could tell there were massive reshoots - the last two episodes are the worst, like the copy paste starfleet. Or the Borg cube - the last scene with 7of9 in there looked off. Not to mention this stock footage. You could feel it was done without love, Patrick Stewart did it just for the money, you could see his acting was terrible, he couldn't care less. That's why i hate it. It's the first star trek show ever i can't watch a second time. It was always like - next week is the big reveal - and next week the same, it felt like you were given empty present boxes.
But i hope for the best too. All Star Trek Iterations were terrible at the beginning. But i don't know if i could deal with Robopicard. And one more thing: i hate this 10 episodes (or less) per season format. 30 years ago they were able to do 26 ep a seasons - something we can only dream of today.

grew up watching star trek: the next generation . Her character is one of my favorites .. i always look forward to seeing her in episodes.
Star Trek: The Next Generation was way ahead of it's time in talking about very same issues that we face as society today. It also brought plenty of diversity into it's casting choices which was made it stand out during the time. Will always appreciate this fact and that's why TNG remains such a good show despite its age.
Um, I think you mean The Original Series...
@@jameslucas3161 The original series had some diversity as well, but how does that negate TNG's diversity? Granted, there was no asian character on TNG to match Sulu, but there were two black characters (and I'm not even counting Guinan as a recurring guest) compared to the original series one. TNG also initially had three female main characters (dropped to two after the first season) to the original series one (and I don't equate white women with people of color, but in terms of general diversity, it's something). Neither had a latino main character, unfortunately. Thinking about it, I suppose that Voyager had the most racially diverse cast, although it wasn't as good of a show as TNG (though it should be said that TNG is my favorite TV show of all time).
And on the issues, Rick is absolutely right. One of the things I love about TNG is how unapologetically scientific and rational it is in the early seasons (later on they did kowtow a little to spiritualism, though not completely, unlike DS9 which literally ends with black jesus versus cardassian antichrist). The original Trek series actually snuck in some Christian propaganda (that sun worship episode, which Kirk later understands to mean "son" as in son of god), which didn't really make sense. But anyhow, a lot of other social, political, and just frankly human issues are there, just as many were in the original series. Certainly TNG episodes like "The Measure of a Man" still speak to racial issues, "The High Ground" speaks to issues with terrorism, and "The Outcast" puts the shoe on the other foot in terms of gay rights.
TNG was not new in that respect. Star Trek ALWAYS dealt with issues far ahead of its time. The original series broke ground again and again on social issues. TNG was just following in its footsteps. Don't try to teach your grandma to suck eggs, youngster.
The issue is that Rick was talking as if TNG was the first show to do that. It was not, and it would be nice if TNG fans would own up to the fact that their favorite show was NOT the groundbreaker in this regard.
what about whoopie standing up for pedophile rapist polanski? google it
As a Trekkie, this makes my heart swell with joy! Yall just don't know how tight the relationship was between these two on the show!
@MonkeyZorr As a Trekkie, I love Star Trek Picard and think it is a wonderful show, and I am extremely excited that Whoopi will be bringing Guinan to Season 2.
@MonkeyZorr nobody likes you.
💯
This turned out awesome. Thank you for saying 'yes,' Ms. G
i grew up on star trek TNG. one of my all time fav shows. seeing those older faces getting back together again is gonna be amazing.
Aww Whoopi has a great smile. Love the hug between her and Sunny too
Whoopis reaction to this is so heart warming it make me tear up, I loved the episodes with Guinan, for an alien she makes it so human.
I hope she has more then a "let's have dinner" kind of role
I never knew Guinan was an alien. She was one of my favorite characters/crew members when she was on screen.
@@quickgirl80 she's an El-Aurian and is hundreds of years old.
Guinan is so wise and kind and has such a beautiful energy... I’m SO excited to see her return!
Guinan was the "sounding board" trope, but Whoopi put so much more into it than that. Her best acting of her career if you ask me. Much of it nonverbal.
Actually made me emotional seeing Whoopi, who I admire and miss on the big screen, getting emotional :)
Patrick Stewart & Whoopi Goldberg are just amazing, 2 of my most favourite people of all time. Absolute LEGENDS!
Whoopi is like a kid having her favorite wish coming true.
Whoopi is so happy.
xperty you’re a sad person
xperty it’s not an insult if it’s true
I love Whoopi Goldberg's smile. She just radiates joy.
She's clearly trying to keep herself from showing too much. But that smile shows her true feelings. :)
you spelled hate wrong.
And shouts out H8 and intolerance to anyone who dares to disagree with her. Shes a witch
Joy?? I'never seen such a miserable person in my life,
She really has got such a beautiful smile!
Im so happy they are alive to give us this ending. I started watching stark trek with my grandfather and it was a big part of my childhood.
I so love whoopi's laugh. And her surprise reaction wen she was mentioned 2 b in season 2. Shes incredibly adorable
"Picard is 18 years older, Patric Stewart is 18 years older..."
C'mon Patrick, don't start acting your age now. Rage against the dying of the light!
I'm glad he embraces getting older. It's apart off life.
There are four lights!!
He's not that good of an actor. Age is a factor.
I doubt even Christian bale could act younger as an old man.
There are Four lights
He can still do one handed pushups. I think he's fine.
Seeing Sunny and Whoopie hug made me smile :)
bambadabamba it just shows who’s the more genuine co-worker and true friend in that group.you can see so much jealousy spewing from the rest of their faces towards her recognition but she has what they don’t “talent”.
Many of my favourite episodes and moments of TNG featured Guinan heavily - and I for one cannot WAIT for more. The character is full of potential and is SO beloved - this fills my heart with such excited anticipation for more!!!
Remember the one where they became kids? Lol
I just came here from the Picard special. I'm crying. This is the best thing!!
Thinking of Star Trek: The Next Generation puts a smile on my face just remembering it. What a show that was pure magic!
I know right!! 😊😊😊. So many favorite episodes!!
"Can you play Picard 18 years later?"
"Yeah, it's super easy, barely an inconvenience."
It's playing Patrick that's the problem
“I get that reference”
@@paulwalker3758 👍🏿
@@paulwalker3758 getting that reference is TIGHT!
Wow wow wow wowowowow!
She is TRULY HAPPY!!!! I LUV IT!!! JUST BEAUTIFUL TO SEE THAT KIND OF HAPPINESS!!!!
Stewie: Did you hook up with Whoopi Goldberg?
Patrick: All the time.
My childhood was screaming like a banshee when this happened. Huge respect.
DarcManGaiden so was mine. I loved TNG, especially since it was my intro to the amazing world of Star Trek
DarcManGaiden lol @ a banshee

Seeing Whoopi react the way she did made me all teared up. I am enormously looking forward to Picard. It’s a great time to be a Star Trek fan.
Whoopi...Looks so Happy...never seen her smile this much, or so deeply.....it brought Joy to my heart 💜, seeing her so happy!
I have been watching "Picard". And I just love the show. They have been bringing the original cast back one by one. I was thinking just recently that it would be so great if they brought her character back too. I just now found this vid in my feed. She'd a few tears of joy and laughter watching it. 😂😁💜💜💗
