I watched a clip of the first television show that Patrick Stewart was on. It was in black and white, had a poor production quality, and terrible picture. Stewart played a fireman walking through a building after a fire. I couldn’t make out which character was Stewart, and then he started talking. That voice imbedded the fuzzy scene in my head. The show was from the mid sixties, maybe 1964.

A treasure of a man, with the spirit of youth still in him. Crazy to think he's 83 years old! Full of life, stories and just a blast to be around! Enjoyed this so much!
Patrick Stewart is a global treasure. How many Shakespearean actors have made a closer connection with the public than Stewart? We are running out of classically trained actors on earth, and they must be as cherished as an endangered species. Great series of interviews, thank you!
Patrick Stewart is one of the living memories of how far humanity has come in a mere 75 years. desperate poverty is incredibly rare now in most parts of the world, but pre WW2 was commonplace. electricity, running water, housing, food... we take for granted now.
I remember seeing Hugh Jackman and Sir Patrick Stewart on that British guy’s talk show. Hugh said something to Stewart about living a life well lived and it was so touching. Imagine being told that. 🥹
I love this man so much, he is a gem and we need to protect him at all costs. So so so sweet! Funny, his story of how he lived sounds a lot like my dad’s .. esp all the bathroom/outhouse etc.
Jack White, Jeff Goldblum, Javi Bardem, Questlove, Arnie (just to name a few of the illustrious guests on Conan's podcast) - and today, it's Sir Patrick... Man... this podcast truly is *on fire* 🔥🔥🔥
Sir Patrick absolutely has an air of sophistication about him, and I think that's why Conan might have thought he had a more sophisticated upbringing. He presents as a delightful nobleman and you would totally believe he's some lord of something.
Greatest podcast of all time, right?! Jeff Goldblum, Paul Reubens, Harrison Ford, Sir Patrick Stewart, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Arnie, Jane Fonda, and the rest that I can't be bothered typing out... May your episodes be available for ever.
I did everything I could in the past to avoid watching the Ryan-Conan kiss because I thought I would die from secondhand embarrassment, but since watching it through this clip, I have to say I’m impressed. Conan commits.
I was touched by Sir Patrick Stewart once, during a Shakespeare Santa Cruz performance. I don't remember the play, but he played someone of some import, and as he ran down the aisle, dressed in a white tunic, tapped my shoulder, in character, asking me to recognize the gravitas of the situation. In the 30+ years since, I have not washed that shoulder.
My grandmother grew up poor in Dublin and her childhood home was nearly identical to Patrick Stewart's. The house is still there today but thankfully has running water and an indoor bathroom now!
"The Downhill with Conan O'Brien." Not derogatory at all, but it just kinda seems to work given how the interviews become even more amazing as they continue and everyone embraces it.
I first "met" Patrick Stewart when he played Leodegrance in Excalibur. I always remember the role because Patrick's character doesn't hesitate to swear allegiance to Arthur.
Picard's beard in the finale "All Good Things" is similar to this, but was probably fake due to the shooting schedule with Picard having to appear cleanshaven in other scenes.
Dickensian. He has to dub it down for us American's because we've all heard of the Rust Belt. I've never heard the word before. Conan is so well educated and well as an amazing comedian.
When I was 4, my hippy mom had us living in a house with no running water or electricity. There was an old Franklin stove, for heat and cooking. There was no toilet, but the outhouse was a double-seater. I was 4, so I thought it was totally normal.
Sir Patrick Stewart has been 60 years old for 40 years
Dude.. In xcalibur he did seem old for me al ready..
And I'm hoping for at least 40 more years 😢
me too pal.@@mastermill79

The pause and blank stare followed by the "oh yes" was hilarious 😂. God I love Sir Stewart
Sir Patrick Stewart is not only a talented actor, but a hilarious guest!

Damn first arnold now patrick - back to back killer episodes!
and Ed Sheeran before that. Conan's been killing it lately with his guests
And that young chap from the galaxy far far away 😃😃
This is what happens when you start to dress up.
Harrison Ford….
People throw the word "icon" around loosely...but Sir. Patrick Stewart is truly an icon! Hilarious, kind, charismatic, humble
Patrick Stewart's early life was LITERALLY like something out of Monty Python's Four Yorkshiremen sketch! What a gem of a human.
He was lucky to have a boiler. I had to rub two sticks together
@@michaeljohn1978Sticks! I had to break off my fingers and burn them every day just to keep warm!

The comic timing of that pause is actual art in its purest form
Sir Patrick’s upbringing is fascinating. Truly a humble upbringing.

Patrick finally rocking the “All Good Things” beard
That episode was fairly accurate predicting how the cast would look in the future.
Patrick Stewart could be 120 years old & still be the sexiest man alive. Props to you, Sir!
Utterly fascinating person! Incredible childhood too, hard to believe how much he's overcome.
My sister told me I had a huge smile she never seen before, when I saw the guest of the podcast. The delightful and hilarious, Sir Patrick Stewart 😁
Sir Patrick is utterly adorable, love this guy
Kissing Ryan remolds and Patrick Stewart is a legendary accomplishment what a legend

It's not exactly 'rare' in many parts of the US
Still very common here in my 3rd world state
Yeah my grandad had a very similar upbringing in wales he always tells me stories about it

What a pleasure to watch good vibes from Patrick, his family had a Japanese style bathing tradition

His accent is almost perfectly 50% British and 50% American.
Mid-Atlantic! If you were learning an accent for movies or theatre in the 40s and 50s, that was the one to pick

Sir Patrick's reaction at 2:31 after they cut from the Ryan Reynolds kiss reminds me of Sir Ian so much. The expression is just the same.
