I'm an esthetician and pro MUA. I've been in the industry for over 14 years, so I have had a front row seat to the insecurities and obsession stemming from social media. I've started being brutally honest, but empathetic with my clients, letting them know what is real and achievable vs the highly edited filtered images online. I will have the client look in the mirror and point to their perceived flaws. Many times, they just need education and some knowledge.

I think as surgery and other procedures become more accessible natural beauty will become the “status symbol” that plastic surgery once was if that makes sense. I think we’re actually headed in a direction where celebs will be even less honest about procedures because in a way when everyone can afford it it becomes kind of gauche. Of course people will continue getting procedures but I think they’ll want it to be even less detectable (ex. How super perky and large fake boobs used to be the trend and now people want a Kendall Jenner boob job)

18:08 this is such an interesting point to make. In the 90s-00s, there was a big obsession with skinniness. Models were starving themselves and doing drugs for the “heroin chic” look, leading to many young girls developing eating disorders.
Now it’s the other way around, with fuller bodies and faces being trendy. The Kardashian’s and other celebrities started with BBLs, lip fillers, etc, then everyone else followed, leading to young girls risking their lives to have these surgeries. The cycle of women killing themselves while trying to achieve the beauty standard will just continue

I’ve always known this stuff about filler- how it obviously stretches the skin, not only by balloon effect but also increased weight means a greater pull of gravity on the skin, and all of the manipulation of the skin also stretches it. Still, I did it once stupidly because a friend was recommending it. TG I never did it again.

Now they don’t store like that but my point, no one has to get multiple injections in lips. It really got out of control. The injector is key. That diy thing, wow! lol..I don’t do face filler outside lip, or injections of any kind in my face as that scares me.

Easy for someone who looks like her. While I disagree with what a lot of what these people have done to their faces and think they don’t look good, she sounds like a mean girl. She could convey the same message with a different tone. It’s people like her that make people feel insecure. I find her very annoying and wish he’d stop highlighting her videos.

I love your content Dr. Gary - but I am really tired of all the negativity of fillers. Yes!! Absolutely girls start too early and some really overdo it - but, if it is used wisely it can enhance your contours and you could, together with other treatments, go without a facelift. What is more risky? A surgery or some fillers if done by a certified doctor?

I’ve had filler twice. A total of 1.5ml. Haven’t ‘topped up’ in 7 years and it’s still very much there. My lips have barely changed. I started suspecting filler didn’t just metabolise about 4 years ago.
I see girls who started filler around the same time I did and what they’ve done to their faces in a matter of a handful or so of years is WILD. It’s like they get filler blindness and just keep going and going. Super scary stuff.

Skin care. Eye cream goes on first ,sun block last. I'm using an eye cream with retinol in it to help stimulate collagen production at night and a caffeine eye cream in the morning.
Also try a diy lymphatic facial message. You can find videos on here all over find one you like. I also drink bone broth for collagen. The carrot and tumeric flavored ones arent that bad. They sell sipping broth now in the grocery store.

You think therapists just throw medications at people as fake solutions for real problems? That's both not accurate and a hypocritical accusation coming from a cosmetic surgeon. I've been to therapy at two different periods of my life discussed self esteem issues, all we do is talk about them, I've never at any time been put on any type of medications nor has it even been suggested. If I went to you, you would probably suggest procedures, wouldn't you?

... If you go to a plastic surgeon, they are probably going to suggest procedures, yes. That's how this generally works. Why would you go to a surgeon expecting psychopharmacological therapy?

    • @moonlily1
      @moonlily1 5 часов назад +2

@@agendacide75 It seems you miss understood. I'm not implying that you would go to a plastic surgeon in search of pschopharmacological therapy. People who are insecure about their appearance wouldn't go to a therapist for such, either, and probably wouldn't get it. I'm saying that it's hypocritical for a surgeon to imply that a psychotherapist would push you on to something you don't really need that may not be good for you or you may become dependent on when that's ALL a plastic surgeon does. And those cosmetic procedures may carry serious risks, worse than the side effects of the anti-depressants that a therapist probably won't give you, and may require lifetime maintainence, not much different than the scenario Dr. Linkov presented of being on "lifetime medication" (generally, you'd only be on anti-depressants until you're not depressed anymore, unless you actually have a depressive disorder, in which case you need them) while NOT fixing the problem. The celebrities we're seeing as examples here didn't just "fix" one feature they didn't feel good about and overcame their obsession with their looks. Rather, they just continued with their obsession and have more and more procedures, until they come to regret it.

All the while to the trained eye you can see her cheeks are pumped to the gods with filler and she definitely as Botox keeping that forehead stiff and waxxy (dead giveaway)

@@vb8801I'm gonna have a real unpopular but honest take here....but I can see that being sort of an advantage.
I heard this a while ago as well especially for women when we take fat from our abdomen which is the area that tends to expand as get older...well if that means you put it in your cheeks and your cheeks stay plumped I see a win win lol. Because you're going to continue to lose volume in your face as you get older and your upper cheeks mid face especially is what ages you due to volume loss, well if transplanted fat is there and that fat never loses its volume 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ I see it as the gift that keeps on giving lol
Albeit if it's all done in a conservative amount.
