    Hi Shane, love the video. I wanted to share with you that next week I will be visiting the OR that I was born in 55 years ago, thanks to a very sweet surgical director. This will cross a huge item off my bucket list. Watching your videos gave me the courage to ask, thinking I would probably be turned down. Thanks for the inspiration!

      Had a fantastic OR tour today. Many things looked like the OR in your videos, a few things different. I was surprised on how small the OR was. It was quite emotional seeing the exact spot where I came into the world so many years ago. It is a memory I will cherish the rest of my life. The surgical director could not have been nicer. The unit is closed on Tuesdays, making my visit possible. Thanks for all the great videos, and congratulations on 50K subscribers!

    I work at a large non-profit healthcare conglomerate and it's been "sold" by a training program that's ensured their "graduates" can be "certified." The certification is NCCT awarded. The NCCT site itself states that their certification is intended for those that now need certification, but have been otj trained or military trained that now need certified bc of newly imposed states' laws. However, the program enlisted by my employer doesn't follow the NCCT 's disclaimer. Instead, they've (the program to which my employer's subscribed) proclaims their program can train any candidate in 16 - 20 weeks to perform as a surgical technologist and pass the surgical technologist certification exam. So far, SO NOT the reality.

    I'm starting school in a few months to become a Scrub Tech but I have to start/finish the programs required General Ed classes before I can start the offical Surge Tech program. Do you have any advice for a future Surgical Tech??

    Hi
    I am 19 years old and I'm really passionate about medicine, about how the human body works and about helping people. I recently discovered it is my dream to become a surgeon. I meet most of the required characteristics and requirements, except: I'm not the best at science/maths.. Do you have any advice?

    I need help, I live in Argentina and want to move to New Zealand after getting my degree. But I have a doubt, every tech video I see they study for 2 years top, and in my country we study 3 years for a "base" title and I want to do 2 years extra for a higher title. Is it worth it if in English speaking countries the maximum a surgical tech goes to university is 2 years?

    What about international surg techs? Are there positions in other countries? How about NGO's, Dr s w/o borders etc... A lot of people want to go to other countries or do mission work or combat zone work.

    What happens when a tech gets sick? The flu, cold, etc. Do you just stay home? Is there other work that could be done without compromising patients? I feel like the slightest cold could mean a week of forced sick days lol

    • @tony0786
      @tony0786 5 лет назад +1

      People call out sick all the time in the OR. Just about the only time they force you to go home is if they think you have pink eye.

    This is more surgical rep vs sterile processing and how the industry is bs and should be all union.. reps make mad money vs a tech or sterile processing tech... plus they have maybe 1/4 to 1/2 experience.

    i was a travel circulator. hardest part was memorizing locations of supplies. also, many ORs will give you shitty cases while their permanent staff sits on their ass. i do recommend cross country travcorps because the housing they gave me was awesome.

    I have done one of those automatic video interviews. They are weird and I feel like they are just awkward. It was not for something in the medical field but it just seems lazy to me.
