Nice video!
You get a free surgery.
Self care is so important especially when you’re in a demanding field like medicine. Thanks for being honest and open. Take care of yourself, brother!
I have to thank you for inspiring me to pursue this career! I’m currently in my first semester of a 2 year CST program here in Texas and you’ve been such an amazing source of guidance! Thank you for being awesome!
Don't forget us RNs put in to the role of ST when we don't have any Techs available in our facility, I've learned multiple techniques and processes from you and your channel. Thanks for your work and time. Happy Scrub Tech week!
You are awesome! I have my first interview after graduating as a CST in July. I am so thankful for you and your awesome videos! 😊😊😊
Omg, our instructors mentioned the conference in Georgia. Im currently in my 1st semester here in houston tx.I watch ur vids and did before I even got in the program :) Really do Appreciate all the awesome tips and talks!
Welcome back. You've been missed. 👍
I cant wait to meet you. I go every year to national conference and I am very involved as well. Kudos to you for taking a break there is nothing wrong with that.
We love you back no matter how frequent the uploads are :) Of course you need time for yourself! Thank you for all your hard work and inspirational/motivational videos. Lots of love from London xxx
you don't have to explain yourself. we love your channel & understand you have a family & a full time job! you come first. never feel bad or selfish about taking time for you. you have so much useful content that us students can utilize even without you uploading regularly 😌
I hate to say it but you are one fine man!! Lol
Love you man! You've been an inspiration for me in the OR
Glad you took time for yourself and live your life. You work hard and deserve those few moments to enjoy your passions outside the OR. Grateful for your videos and hope you can continue at your own pace. I have a periop assistant (non CST position) interview coming up Wed here in PA and am a bit nervous because it would be a great first step into the field before I enter school to get certified.
I’m not a CST, or even a medical professional. But I find your videos fascinating and compelling. Thank you for all you give and do. ❤️
I started watching you when you first started your channel at the start of my schooling. Now a CST, trying to get the career started and stuations didn't allow me to keep giving in patreon. But I been here since then and we (subscribers) will continue to be here because your videos and you are awesome! It is okay to take a hiatus. Stay healthy!
Omg!!!! I attended my first conference as a student last year and I am definitely going to this one now that you’re doing a talk!!! Even if you just attend! You have been such an encouragement and inspiration as I started this journey. It was only through your channel that I could get a small window into the CST world. Thank you so much for all the time and energy you’ve put into this channel. Hope to see you soon!!!! -ST student from NY🎊👋

Could you review shows (example: good doctor) on how they compare to surgical tech antiseptic techniques? Would love to watch.
Youre not obligated to make videos. All these people will stick with you if they want you. You make amazing context. Id wish i had found you sooner. Just upload when you have time and when you feel like you need to share something with the community you created. Stay healthy and keep up the good work.
So good to see you back! Absolutely take time for yourself. I'm currently a PACU RN patiently waiting for a peri-op program for RNs in the OR to begin. I've learned so much about this new environment from you. Thank you for your inspiration!

I deeply enjoy watching all of your content. I am an aspiring program student and I cannot express how much I enjoy using you as a primary insight to the CST/FA field. I wish you well, and thank you for the content you have provided. Take care
I have learned so much from your videos. I can honestly say, your videos helped me through tech school. I recently graduated from school, and became certified in surgical technology. Thank you for all you do!
I understand! Being in the medical field, time for your self become a priority to keep loving what you do. 🤕😷🚵♂️😊👋
Currently in a surgical technology program in North Carolina
Love ❤️ your videos
Very helpful 😊
Thank you for all you do and all your videos. You've helped me alot! I'm glad you're taking time for yourself that's important! We will still be here!
In a stressful job like this you have to take the time to decompress and clear your head. Do what you have to do and when you post a video I’ll be here to watch it.
You uploaded a ton of videos with helpful information! You answered all of my questions before I decided to go to school and even right now as I am going through school. You deserve more than a break! You have helped thousands and we thank you! 😁🥳
Brilliant!
I think burnout is a major danger in healthcare. And one we don't talk about often enough either... there is a recognition of some of the sacrifices healthcare workers make, especially in terms of lifestyle, even some of the physical dangers especially in frontline jobs.. but something we don't deal with enough is compassion fatigue and a lot of it stems from losing the personal-work life balance and overlooking self-care
And it can be so easy to do.
great video
I have a question. Have you ever been in an organ donation surgery ? What was it like, and is there special precautions and things you have to do differently?
Good to see an update. I’m a patient. I’ve found the videos so interesting. Be good to yourself.
Could you make a video on how long it took you to feel comfortble in the OR and how long it took you to really know what you are doing? I feel like really, really need that
Missed ya.... 👍
Was wondering where u dissapeared too lol
Liked...and of course...still subbed. Mav thinks you rock. --Daddio
I wish would upload once a week

Welcome back! Take the time for yourself. I was fortunate enough to get a job at a surgery center and love my weekends off!! And by the way.....Happy Surgical Tech Week!! 😎
@SurgicalTechTips Question: I was done with school since 2005 and have never been able to get a job as a Surgical Tech but Love the OR. Since it's been over 13years should I go back to school or just take the State Test?
Can you please talk about it give tips on the CST exam?? I take mine in 3 months and I am so scared and nervous I feel like there is a lot I still do not know an I need tips on how to study for it !
Ya. If he can do some live practice questions or something
Keep doing whatever you love outside of work and RUclips! Your confidence gained through those experiences will translate into your usual charisma on camera. Looking forward to those BIG videos! Maybe save them for the beginning of every other month? It will be something for us viewers to look forward to! Anyhow, do what ever you want to do. We will be here whenever you post.
Congratulations on the national conference invitation. You'll do just fine.
Thank you for all of your videos. They're a great source of information and very inspirational. Don't feel the need to produce them on a schedule. You have given every aspiring CST a wealth of information and your great attitude is something everyone should strive for. Lastly, never neglect your workouts. They're good for your brain, body and mental health. Be kind to yourself!
Thx for your honesty ! You have taught everyone an important lesson in terms of work life balance . Even stuff that we consider fun , at some point can turn into an “ obligation “ and just more work. Love your channel as a newer NeuroSurg RN. Be well
Congrats Shane!! Your going to slay the talk everyone loves you and your so helpful! We can not thank you enough! You're a celebrity now! Im a RN in the OR and I know time is so scarce its so cool how you take so much of your personal time to teach us! Take time for you man you've helped so much!! We will be here when you return...
Happy surgical technologist week!!!! Come to Atlanta!!!! Yessss
I just want to thank you for being here and doing what you do. I was just accepted into my surgical tech program and your videos helped me so much for the interview portion of my application! Your tips and all your information are so helpful for entering this world. Thank you so much!
Thanks for all you do, it helps a lot! Can you tell me what's the best text book for learning surgical tech? Thanks!
I love your videos. My class has watched some of your videos for example. Keep posting. You have helped my research while choosing my career path.
I missed your livestream last month sorry I missed it. I have a question, what is the most prestigious job as a surgical tech as in service wise, is it orthopedic Cardiology, OB, neurology,
Thank you for sharing with us I became a new subscriber a couple weeks ago , self care is important and us as viewed completely understand! We are looking forward to your new up and coming videos whenever you find the time don’t feel pressure or feel like you are obligated to upload a certain amount thank you for sharing !
Hi Shane
I understand your dilemma .
Also, I am 68 yrs old and feel I can’t retire because the surgeons and anesthetist‘ s depend on me . It is so hard to give it up.But I am so tired!
Glad to see you back! All thanks to you and your videos I start the program very soon! I can't wait. Would love to see more videos!
Hey! I just wanted to tell you we all love you in my scrub tech class! Take care of yourself. Also if you would do a video on receiving meds on the field that would be an awesome one! Thanks and again we love you!!! You have helped us in so many ways!
Glad to see you're back! I'm on the Georgia State Assembly, we'll be hosting National next year! Hope we can meet you at conference. I use your videos in class, they're great resources. Keep up the good work
Good for you, taking time off. This can get too much. You have been doing a lot of great things, you definitely need to take care of YOU. Thank you for all you do. And go and have fun!
We have to be appreciative of your hard work and input into this channel. Thank you so much! Ofcourse we understand. Take care!
Happy to see you back! 😷 I would love to hear about or see a video of the transion between the CST and a CFA! Am curious about what to expect as a CFA am curious to see if that is something I would like to try. Keep up the great work, Ill watch any vid u post when ever u feel like to upload 👍
You have to take care of yourself first. You owe it to yourself, nobody else. I'm glad to see you back.
Do a video on how your IT department takes care of the operating room / hospital technology
Take your time uploading videos. I would rather get a quality video once a month or so than a video a week that your heart is not into.
Congrats on your many accomplishments! 🎉 You deserve it.
Hi Shane, happy you are taking some much- needed time for yourself! Always great to see you!
Thank you for inspiring me to pursue this career! I'm only three months away now
Explain it plzzz....ST works under supervision of circulating nurse?
Yes and no. Where I worked it could be 3 RNs scheduled in a room for the day. We had to scrub too. We all worked together as a team.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing
Take good care of yourself!!!!! Life is too short!
Knowing you are experience w so many smells in the OR Do you know any health conditions that have a foul odor and can be smell from a far? for example dead rat or feces.?? Or when people start to cough alot around someone because of a smell. Please and thanks. Would gladly apreciate it.
Ana Lopez Feces, gangrene, and patients with poor hygiene are some of the bad smells you will encounter in surgery. Wintergreen oil is your friend! Dip a cotton-tipped applicator in a bottle and dab a little onto the outside of your mask, and it will “mask” the bad smells.
Yay!!!! I am a CAT here in Atlanta and will be going to the conference. Would love to do a meet and greet with you. Your videos have helped me more than you know.
CST
Hi Shane glad you’re back 😁
I switched to the carnivore diet and I never felt better.
Atlanta is only 3 hrs from me! I’m going to try to go. :)
Appreciate the honest video dude!!
I'm 35 years old. Do you think I'm too old to become a surgical tech?
are you serious? I am 45 and applying this year..just do it. You live once.
I'll be 45 in November and I start 30 September! Go for it!!
38 and just started 3 days ago after graduating in May.
psalmsurfer1 I’m 44 and I keep fighting the urge, but I can’t stop thinking about it... i guess I might have to just go for it!
70 th not first.... but still
Thanks for returning to us!
Thank you for all of your information.
We love you, Shane!
See you there! ;)
