This show was such a massive part of my childhood. Understanding Zuko and his story helped me so much as a young man. I hope they do this beautiful story justice.

Sokka's sarcasm and Aang narrating ''I'm gonna save the world... with my friends'' leads me to believe that since translating cartoon slapstick humor to live action is near impossible, they are gonna lean more into deadpan humor/sarcasm to retain the original feeling PLUS power of friendship vibes to pull at our heart strings.

I have to admit that I have a feeling that the show isn’t going to hold up. I was watching the trailer with an open mind but there is just something in the back of my mind, maybe the acting? But THEN when the voiceover said that line “I’m going to save the world.. with my friends,” I got chills. Nothing gets me more than a “power of friendship” theme and I’m genuinely glad they are leaning into that. Not to sound too much like Katara but.. it gives me hope 🥹
They kept Sokka's sarcasm...and they did have Aang hit a statue while on the air scooter. So that's some slapstick humor.

The fact that it didn't take 20 minutes of Zumba to gently float a garden rock across a clearing, and the fact that they actually know how to pronounce the main character's name both make me immensely excited for this.

Tbh Bryke didn't seem to be the best writers ever once they lost the third main writer - Korra was not on the same par as AtLA at ALL. So I'm honestly not that worried about them being missing from the project. If the people making it loved the original then it will likely be treated with the care it deserves

This was by far my favorite show ever when I was young!! The casting looks incredible, vfx looks awesome as well, and the fact that they’re clearly gonna show EVERYTHING that’s in the cartoon series is awesome! This makes me very excited to see all of the spirits 😄
Yeah, the runtime is as long as the first book in its entirety. There will undoubtedly be changes, but the "Amount" of content will be the same. Which is what the live action needed from the jump.

Totally agree! Wasn’t totally sold on Zuko either - again I always imagined them with sharper features. The actress for Azula seems a better fit for Suki or even Toph.

I heard they aged up Katara and the Katara / Aang age gap is wider, and it would make sense that Bryke would be pissed seeing how they have historically acted in concerns to Zutara. I could see that being a big nono for them.
The bending looks great, the costumes look great, the acting looks great, it seems like the humor is intact. I’m definitely hyped for this now
I wish they dubbed the actors with the actual voice actors then I'd watch it because the OG's gave it more emotion than what I saw in the trailer like Katara's brother doesn't even try to make the same cadence of the voice actor neither does Zuko I honestly would have rather get a cgi tv show to get the performance and emotion we all know and love

The bending actually looks amazing, the movment and choreo look solid, im entirely hyped for this. The music choice was perfect and had me tearing up. Cannot wait!

This looks like an actual extension of real life martial arts. The first attempt looked like a bunch of guys doing the YMCA just to make a boulder float towards the enemy.

The One Piece live action gave me a lot of hope for Avatar, hopefully it will have that same level of quality and faithfulness to the original.

I cried so much out of pure joy! Hasn't come out yet and already I'm so hyped and teary, just from the trailer alone it's giving the Original the respect, dedication, moment it deserved. From saying the characters names right! Getting there personalities! Sokka being the goofy guy we all love to see! To them actually smiling?! Characters coming back to the screen like June, Bumi, Jett, Suki!! All beloved characters, being able to see Zuko's scar! And the fire Lord looking terrifying and like an actual threat. Uncle Iroh looking so sweet, to the frickin bending actually looking so sick and smooth! More lore the better seeing the air Nation being attacked- I was around 12 when I watched it for the first time with my sisters when my grandpa got us the disc from the library and ever since we would go every week to get a new one. To see one of our childhood shows being brought to life with the respect it truly deserves makes me so excited- and now 18yrs old my sisters and I can't wait to relive it all and watch it all over again. From the trailer alone I am not disappointed and so very excited to see all of our characters come to life and hope to see more show up like Mai and Tylee, the cabbage man haha those small details make such a big difference and I'm truly so excited and grateful they took the time to first of all watched the show! And make it with the respect the original deserves! 🥳❤
Now this is how you do an adaptation. I was apprehensive about this adaptation because I thought it be like M. Night. Fire benders with torches, fighting scenes that don’t move quickly, and everything. But… I. Was. So. Wrong?! I’m so happy to be wrong. I grew up with this and to see it get a brilliant adaptation has me so excited.

His sarcastic wit and humor is what we loved about him. Taking it out in the first live action was one of many reasons why it was so band. I was so happy.

Everything looks so much like the original. The bending, the avatar state, the animals, the clothing... And the dialogue! It sounds just like the original too; maybe not word by word, but it keeps the spirit intact. Also, I love that reference to the opening sequence with Aang crashing into the rock statue

@@El3ctr0Lun4Big emphasis on the “if” tho. Its better then the last live action as im sure most can agree. Ozai and the bounty huntress look absolutely spot on. Iroh and Momo also look pretty solid. However, im unsure about Zuko and his scar doesn’t look that good in my opinion. Bending looks pretty decent i guess so far we haven’t really seen anything to crazy. Sokka and Katara are light skinned and have blue eyes but the actor’s look decent enough i suppose. Maybe they could edit their eyes and make them blue to look more accurate. Sokka’s lines are good. I liked the moment where he said his line and took a bite right after very much like Sokka would do, but the actor doesn’t seem to have that Sokka energy when he says his lines. Just my opinion of course but it looks pretty mid to me so far. Not too bad but not really good either. I could see them doing og dragonball when Goku was still a kid tho.
Thing about the eyes goes for everyone actually. Water benders have blue eyes, fire benders have have a yellow/golden ish eye color, Aang grey-ish since he is an airbender and earth benders have a green-ish eye color. Maybe not the biggest concern but it would definitely make it more accurate

Something about how each scene so far can be easily traced back to specific moments from the original show; and it makes this trailer alone so special . You can tell the amount of studying and work that went into this from both the actors and production team. I can’t wait!

Indie production auditions tend to be a bit more fun and unexpected, and there are usually actual conversations involved.

@@anisa2273 I'm not really implying the actor was failing at it (he's clearly more of a 'Sokka' than the previous one)-- he does seem to capture some of Sokka's sarcasm energy, and I do hope he suceeds with his portayal.
I'm just saying the magic of Sokka's characterteristics like being a center of attraction even during serious parts but not ruin the MC's moments, and being a comedic character that also helps elevate characters during serious moments (he's conversation with Zuko comes to mind. His chemistry with Toph too.) is something that seem to be really hard to replicate for this Live actions.
I don't doubt this version will have his comedy-gold moments, nor that he will have some serious stuff but, not in an unusual way as the Cartoon Sokka did.
Hoping for the best outcome for the show, of course.

Loving how on point Sokka’s sass is, that’s one casting choice I’m feeling fairly confident in. (So far probably the only casting choice I’m completely confident in is the good ol’ Cabbage Merchant, bit hard for him to get that translation to live action wrong when he’s the OG Cabbage Merchant 😅 so excited for him to show up again, and in person this time.) And the BENDING, OH MAH LAWD IT LOOKS SO GOOD! Please, PLEASE keep that faithfulness to the original up, you’ve set the bar high but you can absolutely clear it.

I'm generally against live-action 'remakes', and especially the ones that do nothing different but faithfully recreate the original, like, why not just go watch the original.
But this is very quickly becoming an exception, if the One Piece one proved anything this treatment DOES have an audience, mostly the 'cartoons are for kids' people who miss out on some amazing stories because it's animated, and if any story deserves a broadened audience it's this one. So faithfully recreate away!

Only OG watchers will literally recognize every single scene in this live action trailer. The characters, locations, bending and everything else looks perfect. I hope the show really delivers. Specially on Zuko and Iroh's story. They were my favorite characters of the entite show and Zuko's arc from Book 1 to Book 3 still is one of the best fictional arcs ever written for a single character.
The scene with Jet looked so good, I'm just hoping that Netflix doesn't ruin or cancel it. I want to see it make it through to the end.

The darker tone of the live action works really well with the theme of war, violence and oppression. It also highlights the destruction that the fire nation did/doing to the world. Not to mention the kids who grew up watching this are now adults.

Finally Avatar being adapted for live action for the first time.
I was expecting it be mediocre from looking at the thumbnail but man was i sold. I got legit chills the amount of time i rewatch this trailer it is so properly done and the CGI of the bending looks so freaking good! Also their voices just fits really well.
Okay, okay. I was VERY skeptical about this…everyone knows why 😂 but I gotta say this looks solid. They say Aang. Zuko looks 16. Sokka is funny and isn’t just standing there with a blank look on his face. I saw June and Jeong Jeong which means they’re really following the original story and bringing in side characters. AND THE MUSIC when Aang went into the Avatar State ❤ can’t wait to watch this.

This. This right here. We don’t want live action remakes from our childhood shows and movies to have their own special changes and spins. We want them to see our nostalgic childhood come to life. The story is already written so they can focus on choreography, acting and special effect. So excited!
Edit: I don’t mind small changes that show the creativity of the director and the team, but don’t change key elements that make these original shows/movies what they are. At that point you may as well just make an entirely different movie with no connection to the original.

i don’t really think this is as much for “we” as it is for people who are children today. That said, there is no reason to fix what isn’t broken. The original was a masterpiece and an adaptation would do well to follow its lead.

@@burnermansam7588 yep. I’ve seen a screenshot of Azula with a bow and arrow from this season already, people think she’s in the blue spirit episode with the archers? She’s been appearing on posters and stuff when she wasn’t even in season 1 until the end of it talking to Ozai so that’s a change that might be happening. Feel like she worked better as a focus antagonist after season 1 because we already had Zuko and Zhao, so kinda worried it’s gonna dilute them if she’s already playing a significant role. We’ll have to see.

Aang was coded quite young for the show Anyway, so the age discrepancy works. Beyond that, this gives them the chance to show him Truly grow as the series goes on without him aging out too much.
HUGE kudos to the VFX artists who worked on this show. The visual effects look really cool and I especially love all the different creatures!
