Yeah, Firefox takes an INSANE amount of time to load. An inexcusably long time, I think. That's why I switched to Chrome... Anyway, yeah, SSDs not only load the OS faster...a LOT faster...but they make the entire OS more responsive and enjoyable to use. And for laptops, they also use quite a bit less energy than a traditional HDD, allowing your battery to last longer. Prices have come WAAY down, too in recent years.
One more upgrade that would make this a viable modern machine would be an Nvidia Geforce 710. They are pretty cheap and take very little power. They have modern ports and will do any sort of streaming you could throw at it.
I can't consider Core2Duo CPU's as "old" pc's... any dual or quad core pc should be faster for current PC daily tasks WITH any modern SSD as "mandatory" update. However HD video streaming could stress cpu to top.
@@EgyComanda as long as you know what you are doing yes (most old pcs dont hava a extra sata port so you have to replace it and im not talking how to reinstall windows in a yt commant)
Definitely worth this upgrade - now you could buy a 250GB SSD for 40-50 USD and you will have a good computer. And if you change the operation system to some good Linux (for Windows users you will like Elementary OS or Zorin OS distros) - here is your new 1000$ computer.
To be fair on the boot speed test the windows install should be fresh and new on the old HDD.... windows always slows down as time passes. I had an old PC with win 7 that was getting slow so I slapped Ubuntu on it and it booted and ran at least 40%faster then it had been and used way less memory. Unlike windows I have never had a slow down as time passes on any of the three computers I’ve loaded with Linux.
when u sell a laptop with a core2duo and 4gb ddr2 ram with an SSD and someone sends you a message saying they can get an i5 for 150 and yours is 120. yes but what will you be using it for? they say....facebook and stuff, watching videos. well the i5 isnt really being used to its full potential is it. there are some sheep shoppers who religiously feel that newer is better. i5 cpus and above are only applicable if your using powerful software.

I might upgrade to a 120gb ssd in the future if I find any good deals (around 20 euro) Also win7 is SUPER SLOW compared to win10, you will see even faster times if you upgrade.

I still prefer HDD. Because many say an SSD cannot last beyond certain life limit. HDD even if started to fail, will give plenty of time to backup, just should have patience. But failed SSD means all data is gone forever, unless you have a paid cloud storage with enough space. You can repair an SSD at service centers, but such service centers are still rare and controller of failed SSD that has to be replaced is hard to find, depending on brands

It makes a lot of difference. Now the computer runs better than my $300 laptop. For general browsing, Facebook and email. The E8400 still does its job. I also put a mini gt630 graphics card in it for low rez gaming, and it works great. It can run Tomb Raider at 1080p 30fps. And the ssd was only $70, and getting cheaper each month.
fylipdan OK. I agree, the overall config of this PC still does the job quite good. But why you put in there such big and expensive SSD (e.g. instead of putting it on concrete gaming rig). For this class PC, the 60GB ssd from Aliexpress will be still sufficient and fast like yours. and it costs $30 instead of $100. :)
i've try install ssd to an old pc with e8400 too with os win 8 still run very fast,,even still faster than core i7 new laptop with regular harddrive
