Guys if you want to save even more money and get more products on stuff like lentils/rice/spices things you’d use in curries basically, go to an Asian store/bazar, so much more cheaper and you’ll get x5 more

I was horrified in my bank statement that I spent $1000+ in a month for just my daughter and I. Binge watching your videos. I love to cook and I’m good with leftovers.

Love your videos, my whole family are now using the term "shop from your cupboards". My big store cupboard ingredient is anchovies. They melt into sauces and add a real depth of flavour, especially useful in pasta sauces. Depending on where you live, you might also try going to an Asian supermarket if you can find one for rice. We eat rice every day (using a rice cooker which is cheap and very easy to clean), and we can buy enormous bags that last months. It works out much cheaper.

Try visiting an Asian food store you can buy rice beans pulses and spices in bulk way cheaper than supermarkets. I recently bought 20kg good quality basmati rice for £30. I split this with a relative 🤩

Great video Amy very informative. I think a good pantry and freezer is a real game changer. If for what every reason you are unable to food shop you have peace of mind you can put meals on the table. I was a carer for my late husband for a few years and there were days when he was not well enough to leave alone. This saved me the stress of having nothing to make a meal for us with.

Also if you find any canned items with dents in it, ask for a discounted price on those items when you’re at the tills as they usually give it because they aren’t allowed to sell canned items with dents in them

Nice view of your pantry. I haven't found ham cubes here in our area in the US. I will keep checking. I didn't know they existed until today. Thank you for sharing your information. 🙂

Goya makes ham flavored seasoning in packet form. I found mine at a local ethnic market. Hope this helps!

8:45 According to Jack Monroe you can substitute red wine in recipes with black tea!

I have tried that and use it every time I don't have the stock pots in. It's not quite the same but a great tip and definitely gets close.

You can buy a huge bottle of kikkoman soy sauce on Amazon which I think is a lot cheaper than the little bottles you get from the supermarket it seems to be better quality as well. Great video thanks

@@AmyRuth you’re welcome!!!! I shop at Tesco all the time, and I have a family of 5, we keep to a strict £30 a week budget all the time, and this includes everything. It’s difficult but everyone is used to it now. I batch cook all meals and have a freezer full of meals. It’s a lot cheaper to do it that way, and if there’s offers on things I use all the time I will stock up. One time there were 10 packages of 5% fat minced beef down to 20p in Morrison’s, I bought all 10 and got 5kg of lean minced beef for £2.
The tuna pasta bake recipe is a budget-friendly flavour packed dish that I bet you’ll love! Let me know if you try it!’ Xx
