    Last time i was there a bloke pulled out a nice trout fishing from that same rock. Meanwhile I crawled up and out that cave exit and yeah it was a bit tight.

      Your a better man then me mate, I doubt I walls of made it out that opening.
      Yeah i was there just before the seasonal closure last year and they were pulling trout out left right and centre, water was a lot colder.
      Trout fishing is just not for me I’m thinking. 🤦🏽🤣

    Hey mate, when you’re flicking lures in those streams cast up stream and have the lure going the same direction as the flow. You were going against it, looks un natural for trout. Few casts then move along further 🤙🤙🍻

      Yeah mate. It was all for the content that little clip, I was fishing there for the location ( the cave )
      There was not much in the way of water above me, just rapids.
      Trout fishing isn’t my thing, spent the whole day fishing ( casting I should say ) on the Eucumbene and Murrumbidgee, bugger all water in them, warm temps and heap of green weed. Didn’t get a bite. 🤣

    It’s a great spot Gav. I’ve been there once a few years back and it was chokkers so didn’t get to camp there. Ended up camping back at Coolamon Mountain campground. Froze my nuts off that night! I’m keen to revisit some time so your vid was good inspiration mate! Look forward to seeing the hike video too👍 Cheers mate! Chris

      Hey mate, I reckon it would get cold up there on top of the hill, they have put a by-pass road around the Cooleman Campground now.
      I’ll be back to do the other walk with the caves when it opens after winter for sure.

    I've been telling myself for nearly 40 years to go and visit that spot, but never been there. I have been close by but not to the gorge. Better get my act together before it's too late! Thanks for taking us there and showing the great landscape.

    Awesome Gav, had planned on going to Long Plain for a couple of days fishing at the end of April but the joint was closed for the Brumby cull. Next time then. Look forward to your hike up the gorge.

      I’ll be heading back next year to do the caves walk. Wasn’t much happening in the way of fishing when I was there, water to warm, and to low, heaps of green weed, I fished the Eucumbene, Murrumbidgee and Blue Waterholes, got nothing. 🤣 I call it casting for content these days.
      But a lot of fly fisherman were disappointed in the fishing.

      Yeah, I was kidding myself if I thought I was gunna get out the end of that cave.
      There is another walk up from Clark’s Gorge which takes you to some proper canes, some a few hundred metres long, I’ll have to go back next year and walk that one I reckon.

      Won’t be open to after the seasonal closures now, a lot of the other places around that area that aren’t normally seasonal closures will open up around early August I think? 💭

    Hey mate, another great adventure, I went and stayed at Buckwong Creek after watching your last vid, great campground, beautiful spot, actually saw trout, caught fuck all and lost 5 lures in the trees n bush's, would go again tomorrow, keep em coming mate, hope everything is going well.

      It’s nice spot. Will definitely camp there next year after the closures open up I reckon. I’ve been catching a few of tree fish, but even though the trout have a been eluding me I’d go back and do it again tomorrow also Kevin 👍🏼

      It is, and you should … but it’s a seasonal closure, but is closed early this year for the aerial culling of the brumbies, even though I didn’t see one the whole way from the SMH down Long Plains Rd to the Blue Waterholes.

    Loved the time lapse at the end mate. I always recall when going into a cave, remember the story about Pooh Bear trying to get out of Rabbit's burrow after eating too much honey.......not that I eat a lot of honey.       @aguyandhistroopy l will Gav, looking forward to seeing the walk, have been hearing about Blue Holes for ages and still not got there. Atm doing tracks in around Jamieson with the club, was a fun weekend and saw snow on Snake Edwardes track, it was only 6oC brrrrr but so pretty!

      Sounds good, hope you only driving in the snow, I’m not that keen on camping in it these days, not after working in it for the last few years.

      @aguyandhistroopy No snow at camp, not high enough but nice beside the Jamieson River. I remember how cold it gets up near Jagungal so feel for you out working in it, hope they feed you well! LOL
      Blue Holes is special, how those old timers found these places is a credit to them. Def on bucket list!

      Went there last year and promised I’d go back and do the walk. Now I’ll have to go back and walk the other way to the caves.
      Hope I captured the Clarke Gorge well enough in the next episode?
      Definitely a brilliant part of the world.

      Week before Easter, be around the 26th of March. It closed early this year for the aerial culling of the brumbies on the 6th of April.
      Pretty shit if you drove there and found out that it was closed.

      It’s the most underrated walk in the Snowy Mountains I believe. It’s spectacular. Closed at the moment for aerial culling but normally a seasonal closure from June long weekend.

    Awesome - I've driven to Blue Waterholes from Canberra, it's about a 3 and a half hour drive over the Brindabellas and down Boundary rd and Broken Cart Trail. Always fun, but I can only spend an hour there before going home. I will have to camp around there to properly explore, but the campsite is always chockers. I stood on that same rock...a few feet further and I would have seen the cave! Looking forward to the walk vid!

      You’ll definitely have to go back now and check that little cave out, I’ll be heading back to walk the other way to check out the bigger caves.
      I want to go into Brindabellas, maybe do this at the same time as the caves walk.

      How hardcore is that trail?
      I've thought about heading down to Long Plain again the "traditional" way via Tumut and the Hwy but considered going back via Broken cart and Brindabellas.
      Nav with some lift but no Winch.
      Just don't wanna be that guy who gets himself into strife unprepared or doing more than he can/should

      @@mudgutzadventures436 I did it about a month ago and it wasn't hard as it has been graded in the last year, except if it has rained recently, the mud can catch you out. There are plenty of sharp rocks on Boundary Rd, so air down a little and take it easy. It's a long drive, but I always enjoy it. I have an MR Triton and i do have a winch but would never need to use it. I drove it when I had a D22 Nav and even when rutted, it handled it.

      @@mudgutzadventures436 just need to keep in mind if your looking at taking Long Plains Rd it’s currently closed since the 6th of April for aerial culling. So it’s out of the question at the moment.

    Another good one mate. I have a few questions about your gear haha. What stretcher and swag combo is that ? And what size awning do you have ? Not the 270 the one on the other side of the troopy. And also what’s the foot mat you have next to swag. Sorry for all the questions haha. You have some good gear 👍🏽

      The swag and stretcher are 23 zero. The mat is Mukmat. Not sure on the size of the awning probably 2.5M.
