    In Bird’s biography DRIVE, he said he saw double the rest of the game against Portland, and had to guess where to shoot. When asked why he played hurt, he always said the same thing: it was time to go to work, no excuses. He owed it to his bosses and the fans. No one thinks that way today. ❤️❤️

He's slowly starts moving in the top 10 the top five and then he's all the sudden Nick to neck with MJ or LeBron, whichever one they have but the very top because if anyone watches enough of Larry Bird, they'll realize he was as good as anybody that ever played

    Absolutely Right.
    Bird vs Magic is the Greatest "Rivalry" in NBA History.
    I remember those Celtics vs Lakers games,and even today nothing gets closer to that "Atmosphere" inside the "Garden" or the "Staples Center".
    It was Really Electricfying.

    When I watch this with you- and I've seen this Mixtape countless times- I'm thinking about what's happening now in hoops. Specifically, Caitlin Clark- a phenom player who's taking everyone else down, grinding out the fundamentals, record- setting, crazy shooting skills. She's bringing the Bird's level of excitement to the women's game, and it's a joy to see. Hell, ANYONE rocking it at this level is exciting and gives you hope for the game. Is Caitlin the female Larry Legend? Time will tell 🙂

Just the frontline. And with DJ and DA, DA who destroyed the league in '88 in 3 pointers! It's still a team game, but somebody has to lead them🍀33! I hope you check back on this and see it, as I'm going to expand on a thought I've had that I shared on another young man's channel, basically that while everyone else paced their game as a series of trots, sprints, and rests. I suspect that led players to get static on offense when they're off the ball, since it's rest time, but not Bird. He paced himself as if each game was a marathon, so he was especially dangerous with his off-ball movement.
    How else could a "slow, chubby White guy" get so many elite Black players saying things like "he wore our asses out"? That's the short version of what I said there, but the new thing is that by playing that way, Larry never gave you any time, so once you fell behind mentally, it's hard to catch up. The cool part of my earlier comment involved "pursuit predation" (look it up, humanity, fuck yeah!), and this is in keeping with that comparison.
    Or to put it a different way, once he had them second-guessing themselves, he never gave them enough time to mentally regroup and stabilize. Massive hidden trait, if it's supportable.

    • @bookman7409
      @bookman7409 6 месяцев назад +1

      Also, while his back was a bad one, his bone spurs might well have done him worse, since those grow inside the Achilles' tendon. Painful as hell because of that, but the location means literally slicing off the heel bone so you can turn it inside-out, and smooth down the bone. Then you presumably insert some bone screws, close the patient up and cast them, and hope for the best.
      That's a severely underrated injury, and I've seen it casually tossed around, like with Eric Berry in KC.

    " On top of all these accomplishments and all these things he does, Larry Bird plays hurt" And that sports fans IS THE DIFFERENCE! That's what separates the MJs and Larry Birds from every modern era player. Sick, in pain, hurt or injured, those guys played all 82 year in and year out. If Lenny Bias had lived Bird would have had 5 or 6 rings. There would be no such thing as the Bad Boy Pistons. No Rockets Repeat either. Jordan might only have 4.

    Red Sox vs. Yankees. when I was a kid it was Magc vs. Bird and the Red Sox vs. The Yankees though honestly... Russel vs. Chamberlin or Russel vs. West then again Celtics and Lakers have always had an intense rivalry same as Yankees and Red Sox.. typing this out makes me realize how spoiled rotten I am as a sports fan in New England I have the two biggest rivalry in sports history plus football GOAT/GOD Tom Brady and the greatest DH to ever play baseball in David Ortiz the greatest defensemen to play hockey in Bobby Orr(wish I could have watched him live.) not too mention the greatest winner in sports Bill Russel or Larry Bird . but yeah I think your original question was rivalries in sports. I can think of three most iconic in sports history Red sox Vs Yankees, Celtics Vs. Lakers, Ali Vs. Frazier, oh and Kobe had Paul Peirce, Peirce just had to wait until he actually had a team built around him about ten years after he came into the league. but that is because Boston is not LA. (harder to get free agents to come here... in all sports... whiich is why the R.S. suck now.... they no pay... but expect me to...)
