It's just like Pat Riley said once: "If I needed someone to take a shot to win the game, I'd take Jordan. If I needed someone to take a shot to save my life, I'd pick Larry Bird!"
There is no one I’d rather give the ball to when the game is on the line than to Larry Bird! Larry bird was the best clutch player in the game the best all-around player period!!
I was a teenager back then. All tv broadcasts were in black and white, but Bird stirred up interest in pro basketball again. I was always glued to my seat. I'm 73 and appreciate your opinion.
The reason people love him so much is because of his heart. "If you get paid to go to work, you go to work."- Larry Bird On the subject of his father going to work construction with his foot practically falling off from a break or sprain..who knows, the man couldn't afford a doctor's visit.
Larrys so honest and humble how can ya not love the guy, as crazy good as he knew he was he easily could have bragged all day long and few people would have been offended by it. But inside im guessing Larry also got many of his accolades and self satisfaction on the court and from the memories that go with it all. Larry was a man of action that spoke louder than words and im sure the feelings he got when he pulled yet another green rabbit out of an invisible hat to win a game and the entire Boston Garden would be chanting his name will be with him forever. I cant imagine having a career like Larrys to look back on-- so many amazing moments in time when he won championships, made the impossible plays, made the amazing shots, trash talked every one from players to rookies & coaches and calling countless shots then making them - its just too much to contemplate.
@@eggboundanddown9851 I dunno man, we're on the same page here, huge Bird fan and loved that he was arrogant. It's not trash talk if he was calling shots and backing it up? Maybe I'm just being pedantic haha. But he wasn't humble, he knew was the best, he was gracious off the court but on the court he was an arrogant machine haha
Pat Riley (Lakers Coach) once said that if he had to choose who he would have take a last second shot to win a game his answer was Jordan. But who he would take to take a last second shot to save his life that would be Bird! Truth!
LT I'm just an old Kentucky Hillbilly but I've got a love for the game that's installed in Kentucky people from the time we start talking, Larry Bird is my hero from every angle, I even like hearing him in interviews because he's a genius of the game. I appreciate your reactions & the way you do them better than anyone else I've seen on here brother. Keep up the good work & much to you my friend.
The best thing about all these Larry Bird videos blowing up is seeing Laker fans getting respect for the competition. It's easy to get raised into hating the competition but knowing how great they were really only adds to your own teams greatness. If your team is the best but only play against scrubs, that's not a good thing. Watching your team topple giants is the best thing there is. I had the luxury of *not* being a basketball fan, meaning I really had no stakes in the game and could just admire greatness regardless of what shirt they had. Which is why my all time greatest players ever, all sharing the no1 spot, are from three different teams. Jordan, Magic and Bird. These were the guys who had me glued to the TV despite me not even really having an interest in the game. I was (and still am) a Hockey guy. When they say Larry and Magic saved the NBA and that Jordan elevated it to a new high, they're not lying. They alone *MADE* me a fan. Larry and Magics story is one of the best in sports history and I absolutely love them both which makes me so sad when I see Laker or Boston fans not appriciate their rivalry. Neither of them would've been half as impressive if they didn't have each other.
Game on the line Larry Bird is the greatest it’s ever been. Pat Riley said it best when he said if the game‘s on the line I want Michael Jordan to take the shot. If my life is on the line I want Larry Bird to take the shot
Don’t matter if his team is inbounding the ball or if the other team is inbounding the ball with three seconds left Larry will still win it for you, and he has actually done it before, that’s why I gotta go with Larry the ultimate clutch player when the game was on the line
Omg that's awesome!!! Can I use that??!! I relate to larry bird because I'm insanely competitive. I play to win not give up. I had a brother 6 years older than i and Larry had 3 brothers so you're always competing. Isn't he the best
LT, I have watched many, many reactions to this mix tape and you are the ONLY one who notices "that look"!! I love it. I think that your observations are spot on and I really enjoy watching and listening to your reactions. Keep it up!
Bird is taking the last shot. Pat Riley has the best quote he said “if I have 1 shot to win a game I’m taking Michael Jordan. If I have 1 shot for my life I’m taking Larry Bird.”
look at his shoes in the early 90s. Because he had two heel surgeries he was wearing Frankenstein shoes and looked hobbled, but he was still playing at an elite level!! Dude was a freak at overcoming injury.
I’m glad you froze the screen on Larry’s face in those 2 shots. I thought the same thing first time I saw it. I call it “Eye of the Tiger”…cheesy I know but if you saw Rocky movies, you know what I’m talking about.
I love his and Magic's relationship. I know what Magic means when he says he wishes he had that, that killer mentality Bird has, where you just tell someone straight up when you don't like them. I wish I could summon that sometimes too. I'm more like Magic, we're too nice for our own good lol
Such a no BS guy. I think I like that about him even as much as his amazing years in basketball. Just a standup no nonesense back to the basics dude. Thats a country boy right there.
I enjoy listening to your commentary. You obviously don’t see color. I’m white and I don’t see color either. This world needs more of that! You are an intelligent young man and I respect your way of explaining Larry’s talents. Cudo’s to your basketball knowledge! Keep up the great reactions! Have you watched “ A courtship of rivals?”
I can't get enough Larry Bird videos I played against his brother in middle school and our whole team was in awe. He wasn't quite the player Larry was but it was a cool memory.
I love the way that sneaky ass Bill Laimbeer came sneaking around trying to get him shake hands and thinking bird wouldn't notice but Larry never even acknowledged that he existed. Lmao
Larry Bird always ☘️ Pat Riley the coach of the Lakers said if I had to pick someone to shoot the ball to win the game I'd pick MJ but if had to someone to shoot a shot
LT, that was a great video. For anyone who doesn’t know Larry Bird, you learned something in this video. I just feel Larry is the greatest. Keep those videos coming.
When Larry said that the team had guys who could come forward & make big plays, I always wondered if he didn’t mean Danny Ainge…Danny was a sniper too.
I am old and from LA. I was a Lakers and Dodgers boy. Moved to Boston as Larry started with the Celtics. He was just the best, gotta give credit where do. Moved back home before Larry retired, he was still amazing. I have seen a lot of videos of Black young men talk about Larry and show respect for his game. I was a gymnist, short white boy. I was never into basketball; but, I know great when i see it. Kareem, Wilt, Magic, Dr J, Kobe and Larry Legend. Three of my players are black men from the Lakers, only one white f'ing Celtic, Larry Bird. Hated him beating my boys from LA; but, the man was a GOAT and respected the town he played in. Boston is very loyal to their teams. I was working at KMart selling paint and a baseball player for the Red Sox came in. It was Carl Yastrzemski, another GOAT. He couldn't walk half way in the store without being mobbed. I never even saw him, just saw the crowd. LA and Boston both agree, we don't want NY to win anything.
Btw: this video (ruclips.net/video/s-Hf-3XvAyk/видео.html ) lists 21 buzzer beaters & game winners. Of the 21 listed, 18 were WINS. If the game is on the line, I take Larry EVERY TIME.
About who I'd like to take a last shot between Curry and Bird, I'd have to agree with what McHale said in an interview: "I'll take tall skilled over small skilled every day", it's way easier to prevent a 6' dude from shooting, rather than a 6'10" dude :)
Larry’s taking the shot for me… Nooooo question! Love your reactions. They’re thoughtful and I think you’re getting close to loving and respecting Larry Bird almost as much as I do… Ha ha Ha! Thanks for brightening my day!

Larry over all them! No question!!! He's THE finisher!

Larry joe the best small forward ever to lace em up brother! FACTS!!!!!!
Larry Legend 🐐 everytime
Larry got the last shot!!! Not because he CAN do it, but because he has done it...AGAIN AND AGAIN,!
That killer look when he came back he had broken cheek bone
Larry Legend 🐐

Larry J Bird takes the last shot over anyone
Pat Riley said it best. With the game on the line, M.J, but with my life on the line Larry Legend. Look up that interview
I have been looking for the true source of that quote from Pat Riley but so far I have come up empty-handed. I would love to find it.
