    I was there for all of them. Nothing like the games from 1980 to when Bird and Magic retired. Erving, Ewing, Jordan, Bird, Magic, Wilkins, Moncrief, Hakeem, Stockton, Isiah, Malone, Pippen, Dumars, Worthy, McHale, Barkley. It was stacked and nobody left their teams to join up with super teams. You got to root for the same teams every year and the rivalries grew year after year.

    And, Larry is way out of his prime at this point. I’m not saying that to disparage the great Jordan, but to illustrate that even with the litany of injuries Bird had at this point, he was still playing timeless basketball. Also, the shorter Bird’s hair and the longer his shorts are, the older he is, and the greater distance he is from his prime!

    • @joshuasussman4020

      Yes, and Bird was still going to get 10, or more rebounds, whether he outscored his rival, or not. Though I will say that Jordan being a guard made rebounding as many as a great rebounding forward, less likely.

    People who know say Bird had maybe the best touch on the ball of anyone in history. A couple thing you might notice about his shots is 1., they often don't even touch the rim, and 2. many of his shots were rainbow high arching shots compared to most shooters, whereas, Jordan often had almost a line drive shot straight at the basket. But yea, this is one thing that drives me nuts is when I see other RUclipsrs completely disrespect Bird like he would be a bench player in the current era. They seriously have no grasp of how absurdly good a basketball player Larry was. And by the way this game was just nasty, just a classic all time great game. When I remember back to games like this and then see punks classify the era as "plumbers" I just want to slap the shit out of them.

    • @Erroll21Oscar25
      @Erroll21Oscar25 2 года назад +5

      You took the words out of my mouth, Bird was a shooting god, inventing shots, higher arcs, catching and immediately in shoot and soft jump motion, got it all worked out in that genius BBrain - I am lucky I don't follow the "debates" coz it is REAL BAD for your health, and I would end up slappin shit all day too, but I stay away from the filth. The PURITY in many aspects of Bird's play demands of me to refrain from the willful ignorant and haters.

      Jordan had a line drive shot cuz he's staring at the rim in a straight line. Lol. Kidding kinda. Even Bird's misses looked on target though. Crazy. I seen a lot of these games glued to the TV before DVR or anything like that. It was "must see" TV.

    • @nathanc30

      The "plumbers" statement was from the 60s era of the NBA when some players weren't getting paid enough to just play basketball. Never with star players, Not the 70s and on.

    This was the ebb of '"80's" Basketball. For the Celtics, there were often 2 or even 3 great teams they HAD to beat, just to make the NBA Finals. The Sixers with Moses Malone, Dr. J, James Toney, Maurice Cheeks and of course Barkley. The Bulls, and in-between Wilkens, Chuck Person, and of course the Bad Boy Pistons. NBA quickly became must see T.V. Oh and all the while, the Lakers would be cruising through the Western Conference, like a juggernaut hell bent to raise another banner. The best way to describe this timeframe for us NBA fans... A WAR OF ATTRITION!!!! Hanging on every game, every half, every quarter.... Every floater from the lane! There is absolutely no wonder why we raised these contestants to near God like status!!!!

    Travel rules were different back then. They didn’t allow as many steps. Bird out rebounding Jordan? Bird is more consistent in the clutch.

    This is old Larry. So young larry fadeaway was pretty great. Considering their identical career 50% and Jordan had the legs. Bird used it his whole career mj not until 1993 and on. I'd say equal in terms of mid range shooting.

    That was the way the game was played AT THAT TIME. It was played rough. You had to understand the difference. Know that Larry and Magic played by theEra. rules. The rules changed for MJ after the greats retired. No disrespect for MJ at all, just a different era.

    Those young boys don’t know so many games we’re not recorded this was a typical day for Bird. To me MJ is the most physically talented player ever but I would take Larry Legend over him every time. No disrespect but Larry does it all and makes players better and never once did I see him quit or pout. He just got mad and kicked ass.

    There has never been anyone as devastating as Michael, but Bird, in his prime, was damn close. Not only as a player, but as a trash talker who could back it up, with the same amount of swag as Michael. Jordan was a WRECKING MACHINE. The APEX PREDATOR. Jordan...G..O..A..T. All day, all night. The way that I see it...There are great players.. there are legends..Michael is a God.✌
