My grandpa watched the Happy Wanderers show all of the time. Slim reminds me a lot of my grandpa. He loved wearing bolo ties too.

I've read that Producers Laboratories in Southern Californian are the owners/keepers of the Happy Wanderers episodes. I wish they would release them to the public

I can’t find that company. I’d love to track down the archives.

Great memories! My mother (God rest her soul) never missed a show. By FAR, this was her favorite show ever- bar none. And unlike many shows the adults watched, all us kids liked this show too! It was additive; Slim & Henrietta were so charming, they really really seemed like they were family. I cherish those good times! Slim's laugh was like Andy Devine's... so homey and down to earth and real.
God bless the Barnards and the great shows they made!

My mother and father used to watch this and get the maps to take the same outings. It was a great show!

As always with Huell, this was an excellent episode. Really wish they'd make the Happy Wanderer episodes available on disc or streaming.

I was blessed to grow up in SoCal at a wonderful time, the early 1950's. SO many wonderful memories of the 50's and 60's there until I joined the military in the early 70's to serve our wonderful country. SO much has changed, sadly NOT for the better. I recall when KCET first came on the air as part of NET. In my retired, senior years I've learned less is more. My days now are filled with wonderful memories of times past and tending my beloved equine companions...

I vaguely remember the show. And that his what made go searching. My memory was slightly off. The show was Happy Wanderers not Happy Wander or Happy Wanderer

I am looking for a complete and clean recording of "The Happy Wanderer" theme song that was used in the original "The Happy Wanderers" TV show. I've read it was scored by David Dunn. The TV theme is rather different from other recordings of the same anglicized German folk song. The TV theme is the version I remember and love. Any help? Anyone??

Too bad that all these episodes of "The happy wanderers" have been destroyed, youtube would have been a great platform to preserve them, and show 50's sensibilities, what a waste!

He says he has all the shows! They're NOT destroyed. It's sad his opinion is that there's no market today for the shows. I believe they would sell fairly well on DVD- I would buy them, no doubt others as well too!

@@THE-HammerMan If they are not destroyed, he should post them on youtube, limited DVD market, but it still would sell....

I have a CD of the early Bond songs through Octopussy. I used to think "Moonraker" was the most forgettable of the bunch. But if you listen to something enough times....it grows on you. I finally actually tried to "listen" to this song- Dame Shirley Bassey and all-and I got it. It's kind of a low-key, easy-listening Bond love theme. It's actually pretty good.
