    Intake upgrade defo not the most important but I think it's generally the first mod people do because of how easy to do. As soon as it gets more technical, like down pipe & tuning, most people go to a shop and cost go up pretty quick.

    this is sick. I just got an a3 sline quattro and I’m looking to not just mod but keep the performance as well and I like that you kept that component as I daily it. Appreciate it. Thank you.

    bilstein B6 struts shocks with 1 inch neuspeed lowering springs made a good combo. Yeah, it could be lower, but it's a daily driver, so you dont want it very low. In my opinion, cheapest & most effective initial suspension upgrade. Quality components, better than stock handling, & still a very nice comfy ride for not too much money.

    I only changed to an aftermarket intake because the stock engine cover/intake cracked up & was always a pain in the ass to install/remove. But it functioned very well, & I think it was better at "cold air" intake than these aftermarket "upgrades".

    6:27. Passed emissions. Stock tune with arm downpipe. Grab a o2 sensor spacer (preferably the 90 degree variant) for ten bucks.lets you use a racing cat down pipe with stock tune

    Hey, I'm definitely considering a 06 Audi A3 or some other vws with this motor (all manuals) for the early motors from around 06-08 how reliable are they? I can do a downpipe and tune but I don't want to lose too much reliability. I've had friends have bad experiences with these motors, but they had severely neglected examples.

    Good tips, ill try to follow this route on my 09 Base 8P, probably start with the DV+ then suspension for future proofing the car, one thing i noticed when i got my 8p, it has a custom exhaust but the air intake box is straight up gone, well the main multi peice box at the front of the engine bay. Is it bad to drive the car with it missing?

    I always like watching these for the upgrades the 2.0 can do. Just I don’t want my atlas lower taller would be cool.

    Genuine question here, I’ve only changed my intercooler and air intake, Eibach lowering springs and some spacers.
    due to add adownpipe with a remap stage 2 but what would you say is worth changing that’s most important in the engine components? ATM I have camshaft or sensor code showing and the car on idle route how slightly gasps but doesn’t cut out just slightly loses idle power ? Why is this? Also how important is coil packs upgrade from plugs ?
    Name me 3 items I need to change/add next in order please I wanna build a beast.

    when you do the DV+ do you recommend doing the newer style diverter valve too?

    • @ThatGuyTyy
      @ThatGuyTyy  3 года назад

      There a few different revisions, you will need the newest one that DOESNT have the cage around it, as the cage prevents the DV+ from fitting as I believe the cage can’t be removed

    I found a 90 degree bend o2 spacer facing towards from engine removes EML on catless downpipe. I tried to fit my gfb dv and couldn’t get the top Allen key bolt off after 2 hours work and gave up 🤣

    • @ThatGuyTyy
      @ThatGuyTyy  3 года назад

      I feel you, the older this car gets, the harder it is to take stuff apart, just gotta make sure you lube up the bolts before you un-do them, the DV bolts shouldn't be that tight tho

    • @bh251cc
      @bh251cc Год назад +1

      you simply need a longer allen key.
      long fingers actually help with this mod, which isn’t the norm.

    Solid info man! Completely agree! I never heard the divertor valve but now I'm definitely gonna do more research and definitely get one installed. What brand do you recommend? I too have an a3 quattro. Another big recommend I'd throw out would be and upgraded intercooler. What brand do you recommend for the dsg tune as well it's tricky for me being in Germany and not knowing much German so I have to order parts/tunes

    • @ThatGuyTyy
      @ThatGuyTyy  3 года назад +1

      GFB makes the DV+, I have a CTS intercooler but there are tons of good options for Intercoolers, I am also tuned by Malone for my DSG and ECU!

    Where do u buy your performance part in Canada bro? Can you give me a good site or a good store ?
    Thank-you

    • @ThatGuyTyy
      @ThatGuyTyy  3 года назад

      A lot of the stuff I have purchased for my car has been locally off of people that already have purchased parts. CTS is local to me here in Vancouver, so I get their stuff locally from them. A good parts website to use for canada wide stuff is WCT performance, however their prices are a little bit high. Other than that, I mainly ship stuff to my PO box in the states and then go and pick it up.

    no air intake? no performance coils? id probably be agreeing with the diverter but in conjunction with cold air and better spark, its a no brainer and reasonably cheap and can be done by anyone

    • @ThatGuyTyy
      @ThatGuyTyy  2 года назад

      Air intake gives zero performance gain other than cool noises, factory air boxes arguably have better air temps. Performance coils? Do you mean suspension or do you mean coil packs. Coils packs are definitely needed once going stage 2, complete stock, no. Coil overs definitely aren’t a top 3 either as you can achieve great handling with springs/ sway bar for how these cars are set up.

      @@ThatGuyTyy ignition coils

    • @ThatGuyTyy
      @ThatGuyTyy  2 года назад

      Ignition coils aren’t needed till you reach stage, the factory coil packs are proven to provide enough power until a significant increase in spark delivery is needed, I have personally popped a coil before, but that was only after being stage 2+ for more than 4 months..

    • @joeashnaidoo5077
      @joeashnaidoo5077 Год назад

      1stly there is no evidence to prove that R8 coilpacks give a better spark than stock, I have k04 064 with forge actuator and no probs with spark. 2ndly the intake/cold air induction makes a day and night difference. Go get a infrared thermometer or log intake and engine tepms without the cold air intake and with it on. You will see a massive drop in temperature. Cooler engine =healthier engine and cooler engine = reliable power increases! Oh and btw look at the factory intake, sits on top of the tapped cover and also serves as an engine cover trapping all the heat on and around the engine.
