    • @jordandangelo180
      @jordandangelo180 3 года назад

      Yup. Sounds about right. But I visualize myself constantly using it and having so much fun.
      Edit: I bought it and use it all the time. You can use a lot of reverb, which I really would never normally use, but you can play with it because the gift of this pedal besides the ridiculous hi-fi tones, is that doesn’t get in the way of your playing. Also, if you record anything besides guitar, this is the pedal you want for vocals, drums or synths. My favorite are the effect on vocals and drums. It completely transforms vocals but also drum sounds as well.

    Spot on about these sorts of reverbs being transformative instruments in and of themselves. When I was trracking our first ep with my group we were lacking a synth/piano player at the time. I grabbed a big sky, no instructions, found a texture I like, cranked extreme setting and had a go. Ended up with what sounded more like a synth and orchestra than anything guitar related. You really just have to let go and let them do their thing. I sat with the guitar on my lap for most of it with a glass slide. Once you break out of that headspace the possibilities are endless and this isn't even for ambient music necessarily but just sonic soundscapes you could not achieve otherwise

You were about a minute into the Nightsky, Dan, and programming that infinite loop with arpeggio. Honestly never pressed the big red danger button as quickly. Unchuffing believable. Massive respect to Strymon - I've been playing with programmable effects in DAW for years but it's never felt right. That 'hall' algorithm on the CXM is possibly (probably) the best hall-type reverb I have ever heard. I am lucky enough to own some amazing reverb pedals and an Axe FX III. The best reverbs I have used, up to now, have been from plugins. This pedal looks very well thought-out with a perfect feauture set IMO. My £50 Valhalla Room plugin will probably get me close enough for the sake of an £850 saving, but this is the best reverb I have heard in a pedal. Wow.

    Holy cow that Chase Bliss pedal is outstanding! The most amazing thing is that I can see how it could possibly be worth its price tag. Options, functionality and above all: sound. The fidelity sounded a district level up from the others, which is crazy

    I get so much inspiration from your videos that help me with creativity. I actually purchased a Roland Jazz chorus and a strymon nightsky because of your videos. Thanks so much. Great show you guys!

    Thanks for the demos.....I still think the Empress Zoia is hands down the best dsp pedal out right now. I do love the fidelity of the cxm though, but for value, it's the Zoia!!🤙🏾

    The shocking thing about the TomatoVerb was that no matter how wild the sounds were, there was always this crazy realism and fidelity to the sound of the virtual spaces that were being created. Absolutely amazing.

      That’s the way I feel about the Mercury7 and I’m sure this is the next step up. Meris really knows their way around reverb.

      That’s exactly right, it was always grounded in the guitar tone. Exceptional

    Fantastic show! One of my favourites so far. You guys must play together more often. The pedals were inspiring but not nearly as much as seeing you both create and get lost in soundscapes together. Loved it!!!

    Check out Pauline Oliveros and Stuart Dempster for their recordings in the Dan Harpole Cistern Chapel, a 2 mil gallon underground cistern that has 45-sec reverb time.

    Whole show I was saying to myself, please don't let the Chase Bliss be amazing, I'll never afford it. One note into the demo.. I could probably live on rice...

    • @jordandangelo180
      @jordandangelo180 3 года назад

      Rice and a little bit of fish or chicken for protein and you’ll be just fine! Most bodybuilders prepping for shows eat measured cups of rice and a protein so you could get into amazing shape and own the best reverb unit lol btw I bought one myself. It was not easy to spend all that money but it’s one of the only pedals I’ve ever bought that I wasn’t back and forth on or considered selling for something new or different. I sold a few pedals and bought it. Not as hard as most make it seem if you have enough pedals you’re willing to part with.

    Dan,
    I let Dani (Marbin) know about you wanting him on the show. He had me send him the timestamp in the video and seemed thrilled about the idea. I was a bit late sending him the message because of heading to work, but I do think he's keen on the idea, based on his messages. So I'm sure you two can work out something after this pandemic mess is sorted out. I'm not affiliated with him or his band, just a fan. Dani reminds me so much of a cousin of mine. They look a lot alike and both play guitar. If I told Dani I know he'd joke and say something like, "He's a very handsome guy then." Lol.
    Don't know if he contacted you yet, just letting you know I contacted him about your idea.
    Stephen

    I was watching this (not needing a reverb) and when Mick said " Lexicon " I said, Oh No . . . my bank account just got smaller. I own a Big Sky (adore it) but there is Something about the dense, fade-to-nothingness "Tails" on my old Lexicon Rack that is unmatched.
