Hey everyone! Just got out for a 3 day canoe camp with 4 other chaps and 2 naughty dogs.
Introducing the newest addition to the channel, Sprout the 1 year old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. He still can't swim, he can't behave himself around open food, he likes to hump people... but man is he cute!
Johnny invited us to join he and his 2 brothers as well as our friend Dave. The three brothers were on a 5 day trip, Dave and I joined for 2 of those nights.
It may get a bit confusing as the names of the gents are: Johnny, Chris, David (brothers) and Dave and Myself (Kris). Hopefully it isn't too distracting and you enjoy the video!
There is one editing mistake (i've started using Adobe Rush instead of iMovie), almost at the end the caption for the name of the lake shows "Little Eel Pond", but it is Admiral Lake (which I actually say on camera).
Thanks again to Johnny, Chris and David for the invite!

Not sure how I would have coped with that wind but good going fellas! Great to see Sprout enjoying his first trip, can’t wait to see him in more coffee fuelled adventures!

Thanks Fella! He got yelled at quite a bit on the first two days because he is a little food thief but I think he is starting to get a bit better!

Most times the cameras never seem to catch what waves/rough water feels like - in this vid you did great! That paddle in looked crazy, so if it looked like that from our sofa then it truly must have been a nail-biter, canoe-scratcher…. Weather looks perfect! Looking forward to ep 2

Yes indeed, it did capture something of what it was like! I was happy when I reviewed the footage and it didnt make a liar out of me 😉. My canoe may need a sand down and gel coat this winter. 👍

Great trip Chris, it'd be pretty neat if you could get a matching shirt and then just you, the canoe, your pantaloons could be one! Definitely a choppy water wntrance to Salmon River Lake! And Sprouts such a cute little devil!

The pants turned out to be great, regardless of the banana colour! Trust me, I wanted something dark but as Christian said, the lighter color is perfect for spotting the ticks.
After meeting Johnny's brothers, I dont know where he gets his mischievous streak 🤣

Looks like fun out there! Welcome to the 2 dogs club! Your life is not your own 🤣 ... I got some summer weight fjallraven-ish pants from decathlon for $55 regular price! Couldn't believe it! I'm a forestry clearing saw operator and my pants take a serious beating so I wanted something I could afford to replace, but I cannot believe the quality of these pants for the price.

Yes, the dogs for the most part were fairly easy, but really had to watch Sprout around the food. Even Tilly started to pick up his bad manners! I will have to check those pants out.. my biggest problem is that almost anything is too hot. The FJ's were 130 on sale... I don't make enough money to afford that and kinda regretted the frivolity. If they last a long time, it will be ok I guess. My others are still going (but I also only spent $90 on those). Thanks for watching as always!

@@thecoffeefuelledwoodsman the only pants that I don't get hot in would be my Patagonia Terrebonne joggers, they're paper thin and baggy, but man did I have to pay for those! The good thing is they'll repair them for no charge. Everything else is hot, I even found the Outdoor Research Ferrosi pants that people love to be too hot for me.

@@CanadianSledDog I have two pair of the Ferrosi... one are zip offs and that is the only reason I can wear them on trips as I always zip them off by 10am at the latest lol

    That was some sketchy water!

Indeed it was. The temperature and proximity to shore lessened the risk, but I don't think the kevlar boat would have survived being thrown onto one of those rocks! I may have set a camp up on the portage for the first night had I gone solo and didn't need to meet anyone :)
