Hi Friends! Juniper Springs was an incredible kayak run! It was definitely challenging, but also peaceful and an amazing escape. Do you have a favorite kayaking runs?
@@ChrissaTravels looks incredible. I was showing some of your videos to my brother and his partner. I would love to kayak in that area. And visit. Beautiful
Constant water temperature of 72°F, plus too early & too cold for a dip? Wouldn't blame ya I'm way to climatized but someone would find the spring water refreshing. Beautiful wild greenery though & looks like you two took your time to take it all in. Just not sure about gators roaming. Good video & thumbs up. P. S. Just noticed channel membership for 8 months; snap, that was fast!
Hey Philthy! I can’t believe it’s been 8 months already! Wow! That really did go by quick! 🤯 We couldn’t be more thankful for your incredible support. We always talk about how lucky we are to have you! Yeah, the water is a bit too chilly for me. I did get plenty wet during the kayaking trip, and I accidentally dropped one of my cameras in the water 🤦🏻♀️. That is what I get for bringing a non-water proof camera on a kayaking trip! We’re going to try and see if we can get it repaired. I was a bit nervous about the gators on this trip…especially since the waterways are really narrow, and we didn’t realize it was mating season! Thankfully, we didn’t see the momma gator! But, we think we did see one of the babies!
About your non-waterproof camera hitting the water maybe let it stand & self dry or bury it in a bed of rice. Still a cleaning by a Pro might be the better option. Good luck.
@@miszced Thank you! ☺️ We did try just letting it sit for about 24 hours, but just not in rice. It still didn’t turn on. It’s one of our main cameras, so I definitely want to get it repaired. I’m just still kicking myself for letting it happen, but I ran into a tree on The run and it slipped out of my lap. 🤦🏻♀️
Well….we’re not experienced so we probably shouldn’t do this one. We would be sure to run into the momma gator & would have fallen into the water doing the limbo 🤣😅
At first I was thinking this looks so beautiful and relaxing....then you mentioned not suitable for beginners and that burst my bubble lol. Then a few seconds later I heard snakes and gators. I told you before you were brave; much calmer than I would be lol. I'm not going to lie though, the rapids look like an adventure and I've been wanting to try whitewater rafting (I don't know why because all I'm going to do is silently scream on the inside all the way down LOL)!
LaShay!!! Yeah….I definitely wouldn’t recommend this one at all for beginners. It was beautiful, but definitely challenging! I was even a little worried about that momma gator…but thankfully, we didn’t see her. I think you would really love Weeki wachee springs or Kelly Park! Those are two I would recommend for you! ☺️🫶🏽
For great Florida scenery and easy paddling try Isle of Capri (due north of Marco Island) to Rookery Bay. When the Suwannee River is high the area between Fanning Springs and Manatee Springs State Parks lets you paddle among huge ancient cypress trees most thru a protected wildlife area. TY for the good presentation on the beautiful Florida outdoors
Hi chrissa! Love the video! Thanks for the inspiration! I live near Ocala and wonder how recently you took this trip? It was really hot today and it looks like you went on a beautiful day and there were no crowds ! Which is mind blowing to me, everytime i go to a spring i wait in a line of cars for hours hoping i get in before they hit capacity! Thanks!
Hi Heather! Thank you so much! I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed the video. We filmed this video on Easter Sunday, so just a few weekends ago. I sometimes get lucky by going on a Sunday morning, but that typically doesn’t help during the summer after Memorial Day.
Thank you! I believe so! You’ll want to call and double check. But, I believe as long as it’s not an inflatable paddle board, you should be okay. I didn’t see anyone on a paddle board while I was there, though.
My wife and I paddled boarded yesterday, and I definitely do not recommend paddle boarding. They recommend taking the fins off cause water is so shallow, and without fins, it is nearly impossible to maneuver your board. Also, at about the 3 mile marker the water gets extremely murky for about a mile and a half and yes you do see gators, and big ones. There is a 7 ft at around the 3 mile marker and a 12 ft a few miles past, I'd say around the 5 mile mark. The rapids will most likely flip you and damage your paddleboard as it it shallow and full of sharp rocks. There has been 1 death from a gator in 07 and another person got dismembered a few years back. You'll see gator tail tracks all along the 5 mile marker sand bars and they are massive!! If you go on a paddleboard please be very weary of your surroundings considering it is a max of 12 ft wide and you could possibly be charged at by a gator. I'm only telling you all this cause both my wife and I literally just completed this trail and we where very afraid considering she was being stocked by a 7 ft gator where the water turns murky on a paddleboard. Of you do the run, please take a kayak instead. Happy trails
Lol…I was worried about that too! I just made sure to go to the bathroom right before I launched and not drink too much that morning. I did start hydrating as I got closer to the end of the run, and I made it just fine! ☺️
We just did this run on Tuesday and nobody at the office told us about the rapids, the logs and limbs everywhere and after 21 years here saw the biggest Alligator we have ever seen, and a 5 footer that ran out to the shore to hiss at us and my husband and I decided we are no longer kayaking in Florida as this place was full of danger and snakes.
I saw a bear there... And lots of gators... Kayak the run then ran back to the putin. Guess that wasn't normal. People in the gatehouse was asking me if i ran back.
I used to go camping at Juniper Springs for years. Great campground but I have to disagree, their kayak/canoe run is not great. It's a 7 mile run with a lot of obstacles, twists and turns. 1/3 of the way the current slows way down and you need to paddle the rest of the way. There are much better places to kayak. My favorites ones close to where I live are Chassahowitzka (The Chaz) and of course Weeki Wachee springs. You can't go wrong with either. I'm an experienced kayaker and angler. Juniper is too much work if you are out for a relaxing paddle.
I hate how they add concrete to the outer layer; they did the same with deleon springs, like it takes away from nature beauty. The one in deleon literally looks like a pool because it has concrete going all the way around.
Well….we’re not experienced so we probably shouldn’t do this one. We would be sure to run into the momma gator & would have fallen into the water doing the limbo 🤣😅
lol….yeah, we consider ourselves as intermediate kayakers and we found it to be pretty challenging. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it for beginners. It was beautiful though! It’s one of our favorites so far!

Excellent video 📹! Missed the mama gator 😊
Thank you!! I’m really glad we didn’t see her. I was a bit worried! I think we saw one of her babies though!
Beautiful just beautiful. Keep up the good work and amazing videos.
Aw…thank you so much! ☺️🫶🏽
Ohhhh so amazing. What a great place and presentation.
Wow.

Beautiful
Looks super fun 😊 but I think my arms would fall off after 3+ hours rowing even at a “slow” pace 😅
lol…it is a very good workout…all of f the dodging and maneuvering! I did feel like my arms were going to fall off! 😂
I’ve kayaked this run a few times over the years with friends and family. Ichetucknee Springs near Gainesville is another pristine run. Great video!

@@ChrissaTravels maybe lessons on navigating a canoe., lol
😂😂 yeah, that too! But in my defense the tree came out of no where! 😆
Is it possible to get off any sooner than the end,? Maybe the 3 mile marker?
Unfortunately, no. There are no other take out points other than the one at the end.
Wow! Beautifull nature. FC from Laos
Awesome glad know the don’t allow inflatables before I drove up there with my inflatable paddle boards!
Fantastic video Chrissa! Looks like a beautiful place! Really fun stuff! Keep up the great work! ❤️😀
