Lock pounds can throw up some interesting finds. A WW2 motorcycle and sidecar combo got pulled out of the pound at Thorne lock on the Keadby and South Yorkshire on one occasion!

My Nan found a load of windlass' on their canal boat journey when magnet fishing years ago. When I tried I kept getting the magnet stuck to the armco. But then I was only 11 at the time.
Last year while turning the Hargreaves at Atherstone we picked up two magnets and loads of rope, took a LOT of shifting off the hull. Showing the importance of holding onto the rope.

Guys, I love the gentle life that boating offers, Lizbeth understands this, maybe Robbie does too… personally, I’m tired of depressing boating channels that do nothing but whinge, moan and complain.
‘We were threatened on the towpath’… ‘we are broke’, ‘my boat is leaking’ and the whopper for me, ‘boat life sucks’.
I have been on board 9 years, have had my ‘fair share’ of problems, but I refuse to knock out videos that make boat life look anything other than what it is… amazing.
Please stop it with the misery, you may be putting people considering living aboard or boating off the life, thankfully in this video we get it, and what better place to slice it up, Atherstone, a perfect example of the life, shared by two talented people …

I’m behind a few videos, but you were saying that you had back issues during the 6 hour live stream. I’ve found that when I get a little dehyrated, my disc issues flare up. So, I make it a point to drink 72 ounces of water spread out between midnight & 10 pm. If I do this, my back is 100%. I’ll also drink a little extra water on evenings when I have some beer or whisky. Maybe this will help you?
Fun fact: when I turn on closed captioning (Xbox youtube app), when you’re not speaking, it says [Laughter] for the sound of the Lister.

Have you ever been magnet fishing - and if so what did you find?!
Not done it purely for fun, usually to retrieve lost objects from the boat! Biggest successful recovery? My drilldriver when it rolled off the roof. (tip of the week: don't leave any tool on your roof unless it floats!)
Best results were below Napton bottom lock where I retrieved a few windlasses. It's the first lock that new hirers encounter. Best experience was at Stoke Bruerne when I was walking along dragging the magnet along the edge. As a woman passed us, my friend said 'he's trying to teach his dog to swim!'
No never, but I lost a bottle opener/ slash corkscrew in the canal near Atherstone 🤣🤣🤣
