Thank you so much for your videos. Watched several of these. Many explained what action and power are but they didn’t explain how the differences mattered for fishing different scenarios. Well done man. You should be a teacher.
Finally someone who can legitimately explain this stuff in a logical concise manner! You have found a new subscriber Good Sir!
Nice informative discussion on the merits of each style of rod. Keep the videos coming they are helping me (a fly fisher) get a grasp on another style of fishing. Thanks
Awesome video man! Very helpful visual aid, there is so much info out there but you simplified it and made it much easier to understand!! A1 job
You taught my wife and I how to spool a spinning reel. I started on spincast, then a bait caster. My wife likes spinning, so I got myself a dock demon to try it. Now I'm in love with spinning! And this video shows me the dock demon is my type!
Very informative, thank you so much. I am having such a hard time finding my 'grownup' or 'graduation from being a newb' rods and reels. Can't afford the big name brands yet but you made the terminology for understanding rods in general a lot easier to understand. 🎣
Never too old to learn. You taught me a few new things with your video. I'll now make a smart purchase on my next rod. Muchas gracias.
This is hands down best rod an reel guide on yt. Great work
Debo is a god send 😭🙌🏽. This is perfect.
Best rod explanation- I’ve watch a dozen. Thanks man!!
Your presentations are very well said. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos for someone like me that is not a well educated angler. I watched your bait caster videos and this one as well, to understand that I need to sub to this channel. Your channel will surely grow. Thanks from Kentucky.
Hey Debo, just found and saw this one. Great presentation and loved the rods on the wall as illustration. Clean & concise. As good a visual as PowerPoint could provide in the boardroom. I retired from a career in sales and you really should be in it professionally, if you're not. The $ can be awesome. You are effectively selling for KastKing already and doing a great job! 👍 *Features & Benefits and why you need it. That's sales in a nutshell.
This video really helped. I have 5.5' rods. All the way to 12' rods. Now I know the best for the fishing type I am doing. Thanks.
So glad I subbed to your channel a while back. I have learned so much as a beginner. Thanks Debo.
thank you.......finally an explanation that makes sense to a person who just starting. U got a subscriber.
Good explanation of rod action. I honestly didn't know about that until recently, and then this vid pops up on my homepage. ✌️😎🎣
Great video, great info. I've watched it a couple times
Best tutorial I’ve seen yet about this subject. You answered all my questions. Subbed.
Awesome, I'm glad the vid helped. Thanks for becoming a #verifiedfeeshinfriend 👊
You are such a great instructor. I need to back up though and learn the parts of the rod. You said something about the "blank" and I couldnt understand what that was. Will look through your video list to see if you have made a vid explaining the parts of the rod. Thank you. I am now subbed to your channel :)
Well done and explained. I have to watch it a few more times and pull my rods out to fully grasp the information but we’ll put together Debo. Thanks again
D
Darryl D thanks my man, greatly appreciate all of your support!
One of the best explanations I've come across. Thanks for sharing 👍
Awesome, hope it helps out man. Have a good week!
Great video brother thanks for making. Just realized there's more to it than putting a worm on a hook....I had the wrong line on the wrong reel on the wrong rod and now I'm finally going to step out out of rookie zone
Don't look at it that way it all. There are a lot of different ways to do it. I made this as a guide to help others. I'm glad this helped clear up some of your questions. Good luck on the water man!👊
Excellent video, this was exactly what I was looking for! SUBSCRIBED!
Thanks for the breakdown, your channel is a goldmine!!
Very nice lightweight rod and I was very happy with it. It’s my new go to trout fishing rod.
Thank you for this explanation. I'm just trying to get back into fishing after 30 years and I'm strictly a bank fisherman. I'm honestly more frustrated than anything else. I feel like I'm spending a fortune and doing it blindly. I'm close to just giving it up entirely.
Just get a medium action 6ft 6in & be happy 😊 👈
Hope you didn't give up buddy, if you still need help or have any questions I would love to try and help
Perfect explanation my friend. I can cast at least 20 yards farther with a Medium power rod than a heavy power in the exact same length. I have to rewatch your videos to remember.
As always great stuff. It’s pretty bewildering with all the choices available. Thanks for breaking it down and not being brand specific (even though you’re a KK guy which is understandable) . Especially appreciate the kayak length info. Keep up the good work!
J
You're very welcome man and thank you for watching. I do use KastKing but I've used a ton of different companies and models over the years. I try to help everyone the best I can! Have a good week!
Power !!! Oh ya ..... dude your videos are really well done 👍🏻 can’t believe more people aren’t subscribed yet . Keep up the work
Hardknox925 thank you very much, that means a lot. Well spread the word to you buddies, we have to get Debo's following growing!
This is one of the most effectively informative fishing videos ever made. I for one, appreciate the thought, time and effort you put into it. Well done. Are you and educator by trade? Hello from Kansas City!
Man wtf now you got me looking at my setup lol on the real I alway use my heavy rods for my top water baits and my jig with braid and medium for my Texas rig but I never had put much thought about my rod just felt right but you made me think about my setup great vid brother keep it up 👍
papis216 Relentlessbassman that's awesome man, I'm glad I have you information to think about. There is NO right answer to fishing, most of it is personal preference. I appreciate you checking out the vid and commenting brother 👊
tremendously helpful and informative. Thanks for the great vid.
Great video. I learned a few things from this one. Keep up the awesome work bro & I'll keep watching
That's what it's all about! Helping fellow feeshin friends. Appreciate you watching my man!
Just starting to get into surf fishing and this video cleared a lot of confusion thanks man!

Appreciate that a lot man. I'll try to keep them going!
Most helpful fishing video ever, now I'm gonna subscribe
Worth the watch. Thanks for the info. I've learned a lot.
Thanks for watching, I'm happy to help!
Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup ruclips.net/user/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.
What a great video. Excellent display of knowledge and applicability
I appreciate those kind words! Thanks for watching and hope it helps folks out!
I like that idea you just said to me because I chat line all the time when I get home or check my fishing pole and fishing rods same as you do so so I can know what I'm doing when I'm using them
Excellent video Debo!!
Very informative Mr. Debo! I think my next rod will be a 7.5'+ extra heavy for frogging/gulf coast/cat fishing, but I don't think that will be for a while.
thanks man, u know what ur talking about! great video man
Well prepared, well presented, well done! Bravo.
Thank you sir, I appreciate that a lot 👊
Best rod video I have seen yet

I appreciate that a lot man👊👊👊
Thanks for explaining this so well...best video I've seen on it.....im trying to get.better with my gear and start using casting rods and reel instead of the basic spinners I've always used....to get started on my budget I was thing of getting 2 set ups and was thinking a 7'2 med/heavy fast action and a 7'2 med/heavy moderate action....would really appreciate any advice if that sounds like a good 2 to start with....thanks!! Just subbed
Wow man, fantastic vid!
Thank you very much for watching man!
you explained it better then the pro i watched, thanked
I'm certainly happy this helped. Thanks for watching man!
Such great info! Thanks a lot
Great info man, thanks!
Excellent breakdown!!!
Levi Palmer thank you cous, appreciate all your support!
great video, just purchased a shimano dc 150,was wondering what kind of rod I was gonna pair it with, this video helped a lot. thanks for the knowledge.
You're welcome man. Good luck with the new combo👊
As a beginner, non native-speaker and not familiar with Oz, LBS and so forth I was having trouble keeping up. However I find that you are making good, descriptive examples of your statements which help me better understand the reasoning behind the choises between composition and so on.
The line will tell you about a bite faster than a rod can. A trick I always used when bass fishing with the soft Walmart special rods as a kid. Hold the rod in front of the reel, let the line rest on a finger and keep the pole pointed at where the line meets the water. That trick helps keep the pond scum out of the spincast as well.
Great vid man thank you
Super helpful! Thx man.
You are the best ! Keep it going man
Ahmad Al-Dossary thanks man 👊 Appreciate you watching!
Great Channel - subbed last night.. Out West With Chris mentioned you.. keep it up..
Yankee Tanker Outdoors I truly appreciate that my friend! Chris is a great dude and very well spoken. Appreciate you coming over to check out my channel!
I fly fish and build fly fishing rods. I'm going to start building casting/ sping rods and did not know anything about them. Thanks for the video very easy to understand. I now feel I have a clue what kind of blank to start with for building a casting rod. The metal cap sounds good, I will have metal caps on the rods I build.
Awesome man, really hope this helps you out. Have a good week!
Sounds good! Keep it up man
hybridtrendz thank you brother, appreciate the support.
As usual Professor Debo schools us on the important stuff rather than just another channel with guys repeating "OMG...OMG...its big one" while they take another sip of their Monster drink. Between Debo and Hat Cam Bass I feel I have a decent handle on bass fishing and the confidence to go and dangle a line without feeling like a tardo if I backlash. And I also don't get sensory overload when I go into Bass Pro to buy some baits. These two guys explain stuff a beginner angler REALLY needs to know to get started fishing with confidence. Dangle on man!
Haha. I was thinking the same exact thing. I just got into bass fishing and been watching tons of videos. These young guys yell 4 pounder before they see it and act crazy and I cant understand half the lingo they use. They also spend the first 10 minutes trying to sell merchandise. Debo is refreshing and a great teacher. I've been learning a lot from him and hes fun to watch fish with randizzle.
Thanks for the tips was wondering between a 6'6 or 7 ft baitcasting rod.. gonna go with the 7.. 🎣
Thanks man, great info
You're welcome and thanks for watching 👊
Great video. Thank you
I feel like i owe you a beer. Or at least a hug or something. Excellent video. Subbed.
I could use a cold brew right about now lol. Thanks for watching and becoming a #verifiedfeeshinfriend 👊
Good info and video! Thanx bro
You're welcome and thanks for watching!
Would be awesome if you also covered pros and cons of 1 piece vs. 2 piece as many 7' and under seem to come in both!
awesome video! i learned a lot!
Awesome man! That is what it's about for me. Glad the vid helped 👊👊👊
I fish from a kayak almost every day and I only use one short rod a Fenn wick 6'6 w/shimano curado for skipping under docks and bushes ect. Most of my rods are between 7' and 7'6" I frog alot n top water alot but every one is different, good video
Yep, those short rods help for skipe. Exactly, just have to find which different rods you like based on preference. Thanks for watching man 👊
Yeah you do a good job on your videos they're fun 2 watch you should get a kayak
The 1 thing you left out here ( I think you did anyways) is line . Mono with more stretch requires a slightly heavier rod to get a hook set where braid with no stretch might require a rod with more give . So type of line is just as important as pound test you’re using
oldie but goodie, thanks!
You mentioned kayak fishermen.. yes! Thank you.
great video, thanks so much, I learnt so much from you. may I know does the gear ratio affect the casting distance? many thanks.
I'm building up my rod arsenal I currently thinking of getting a couple new crankbait rods one medium heavy and a medium
Thanks bro you help out so much!
You're welcome man 👊
very well spoken, your vids are dope
Dom thank you very much man, I really appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
Man you answered all my questions think I'll go with a 6ft. Berkley MH cherrywood rod and a piscifun torent reel 12lb.test thanks
Sounds like a good combo to start with. Thanks for watching man!
Excellent video, Great explanation of choosing what rod to use I fish mostly for Pike with a bait caster what rod would you suggest for making a long cast using 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz lip lures
Look in to uk pike rods mate ten times lighter than what you yanks use big eyes to help casting and rod you will cast 100 years easy even with a ten foot rod
About 3:07 and rod action. If you have two Extra Heavy power rods and want to cast a light lure, and one of them is Extra Fast action and one is Extra Slow action, which would do better with the light lure?
Hey man this vídeo is the Best video in the RUclips about Fishing rods in english. Americans make hard to understand this.
Christiano Costa I'm glad I could help my friend. Tight lines!
Outstanding! Your presentation is well organized, informative, and concise. There is one minor thing, however. Length is misspelled. Oops!
As someone fairly new to really getting into fishing(especially bass fishing), this video was GREAT for me. Thank you for the breakdown. It will help me in selecting rods and lines. Do you have happen to have a video for how the ratios on reels work in conjunction with the lure?
Ryan U thank you very much man, I appreciate your support. I don't but the lower the ratio, the slower the reel. A lot of it is preference. A 6.3 or 7.0 reel are probably the best for someone starting out. You can do most applications on those!
Right, but do I want a 6.3 for cranking vs a 7 for topwater and so on? I saw how the specific rods from kastking can be used for multiple applications in another one of your videos and that is what I'm trying to do. I don't fish enough nor have the money to have 10+ rods right now. I'm looking to get the most out of about 3-4 setups. Again, thanks for all the help.
Ryan U well golly. Twist my arm and I'll do a vid!
Ryan U I know where you're coming from man, we all aren't pros with 20 different setups! Thanks for watching and be on the lookout!
Lol. I'm a novice trying to get like you. Again, I really appreciate the videos
thanks dude ,it so much imfo
Fantastic content 👌 👏 👍
big help, thanx
Really helpful
wasup ma brew,,,got a few q's
i notice the guides on rod are weirdly positioned, one is one angle(either looking at the rings horizontal to the rod or the angle they are bent from the rod) while the other is at another and another is the same as last etc,,wasup with that? and how do i know if this is a defect or not?
also how come these rods (ie light) can barely lift 1/2 lb of dead weight ? i tried lifting a 3.25lb plastic bottle of water and the rod was bending like crazy and by the time i lifted it 1/2 inch the rod broke and the line snapped? how come they are able to pull 8 lbs of fish in the water but not able to lift 1/2 lb? is it bouyance and are they not meant to lift any dead weight?
thanks good straight forward talk
Phillip Imsdahl thanks brother! Hope it helps! Appreciate you taking the time to watch!
I fish alot of boat docks i use a berkly shock rod med heavy 7ft i used these rods and finwicks for years never had a problem with any of them i think they are underrated!!!!!! Caught. All types of fish even musky they priced around 60.00 $
Nice man! All about what you have confidence with. Thanks for watching 👊
Hey great video and explanation.. what type rod should I buy then? I really cant decide on what length and casting weight rod would be best for me.. I fish for decent size pike up to 20lb casting from a lake boat..using lures about 100grams?
Cheers Mate!
